Zingari Posted 27 November 2013 Posted 27 November 2013 Agree, but you don't get supposedly reputable BBC documentaries saying those things, do you? While clearly we do get supposedly reputable BBC documentaries devaluing the idea of hard work and vilifying the success of businesses. Based on that I'd say we're swinging too far in the other direction. Yes there might be some truth in that Vigilance is the burden of our democratic society , and we need to be constantly reminded of that I've finished my daily quota of fine claret now, so good night
The Horse's Mouth Posted 27 November 2013 Posted 27 November 2013 Ofcourse it's a shit job, it's a job in a warehouse for Amazon. What do you expect?
Adster Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 What just about the say what The Horses Mouth said. Some of the rules are terrible but all in all it's a standard warehouse job you can acquire through an agency with little or no qualifications. The points thing in my opinion is ridiculous as some of the time you can help being ill. So going by the video if you're ill three days in a row you get fired? Joke if true
Rincewind Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Reasons you can be dismissed working shift hours
The People's Hero Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I would guess that most people with actual skills aren't working for amazon? Should have worked harder at school?
Webbo Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Why are the countries with supposedly so many hard working people still in the shit and are the poorest ? 40 years of fairness and equality under communism.
ADK Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I would guess that most people with actual skills aren't working for amazon? Should have worked harder at school? Not everyone is gifted with intelligence.
leicsmac Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 40 years of fairness and equality under communism. I wasn't aware that pretty much the entirety of Africa had been under communist government for 40 years. Nor that most of Scandinavia and Canada had been entirely capitalist and free market for the 40 years too. ;-)
Zingari Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 40 years of fairness and equality under communism. we've taken poorer people with years of fairness and equality from our own "commonwealth" too.
Rincewind Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 of low intellegence do them I would guess that most people with actual skills aren't working for amazon? Should have worked harder at school? Students do these kind of jobs to pay towards their fees. Are they unintellegent? People made redundant and unable to find work in their field of expertise do this kind of work rather than claim JSA. Are they unintellegent? There are many people of various interlects doing menial low paid work for many reasons. It is generalisation and unfair to assume only people of low intellegence do this kind of work. Because of the current job market and low production industry a lot of workers have little choice as to what job they do.
Dr The Singh Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 The immigrants who would do this job would never complain, infact ask for overtime at normal rate!!!!!
Parafox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 The last time someone called me an idiot for no reason I got banned, so I think I'll leave this angry little man alone It wasn't for "no reason". And why would someone calling you an idiot get you banned. Maybe it was something in your response?

I thought we were talking about Romanians?
Zingari Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I thought we were talking about Romanians? We were , but you seemed to imply that Romania was poor because of communism and workers came here to escape the years of poor government that had led to this situation. But i was just pointing that other countries were poor too that weren't communist and workers from those countries wanted to come here too. But i think we've wandered off at a tangent
Guest Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 All I can offer is when I briefly glanced up at the News Channel report on it last night, the shot of someone carrying the scanner down an aisle of stock made me think how long it'd been since I'd watched Ghostbusters
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 They have employed 15,000 temporary workers for Xmas, and want to retain 2,500 of them afterwards. This is probably why they have set tough targets, looking at those with a good record. I worked in a photographic paper mill for nineteen years doing continuous rotating shifts, The work was bloody hot, very physical, and soul destroying. Joining the police afterwards was a piece of cake by comparison In this day and age you get "owt for nowt". Amazon workers please note.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I'm actually an eccentric millionaire, I go painting and decorating every day as a hobby. Community service more like
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 so they are poor countries because they have to work for their money and not having a welfare state has kept them poor ? i didn't say they were , i was responding to a post implying they were I do believe that was what the man said.
Zingari Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, is testing unmanned drones to deliver goods to customers, Chief Executive Jeff Bezos says. The drones, called Octocopters, could deliver packages weighing up to 2.3kg to customers within 30 minutes of them placing the order, he said. However, he added that it could take up to five years for the service to start. The US Federal Aviation Administration is yet to approve the use of unmanned drones for civilian purposes. "I know this looks like science fiction, but it's not," Mr Bezos told CBS television's 60 Minutes programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25180906

Zingari Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 pfft as long as I get my blu-ray of the wrath of khan within the hour I dont care if some peasant gets mangled by a drone Yes , people should learn to be less selfish
Danizen Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 pfft as long as I get my blu-ray of the wrath of khan within the hour I dont care if some peasant gets mangled by a droneI'd take a knock on the head from one of these drones if I get a free Star Trek Blu-Ray out of it.
Zingari Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 I'd take a knock on the head from one of these drones if I get a free Star Trek Blu-Ray out of it. you'd probably be seeing stars for a few days anyway
