Oh yeah I forgot the World Cup matches are decided on who "looks better".

Results matter more and the result when we played the best team ever in Euro 2012 was 0-0. Whether they looked good bad or damn right sensational they still didn't beat us.

So either you can look at the performance and see Italy are clearly better than us, or you can look at the facts and see Italy are better than us (plus, they  beat Germany, a side we lost 4-1 to.)

For the millionth time I get they're probably a bit better than us but that clearly didn't matter in our last meeting when WE DREW 0-0.

I don't think we would have matched Italy's showing at the Confederation's cup.

I think we are at a similar level but Italy are the better side mainly because of their defence.

Mexico and Japan arent Montenegro and Poland. Poland won 1 game in the group other than against San Marino and we were stewing to beat them to even get to the world cup.

 

Montenegro have taken points off us twice at their ground in recent times and Moldova stuffed 5 past them!

 

And to be honest, the much maligned FIFA rankings arent really much wrong are they. Pretty much all the top 32 or so ranked teams give or take one or two are at the World Cup so the rankings are basically not far wrong, and the rankings have Italy 7th and England 13th.

 

So the evidence that Italy are better than England is pretty much irrefutable.

That much better than us though their qualification process was the same as ours, we scored 12 more goals, conceded 5 less and I would argue our group was a tough qualification campaign.. Yet they were unlucky not go into pot 1?

Euro 2012 will be 2 years ago come the Wolrd Cup, they schooled us but couldn't score a goal? Absolute schooling that is! Yet what happened to them in the Final? Lost 4-0.

Italy were a force many years ago, right now? They're the same as us.

I notice you aren't arguing that only Cole and Gerrard are the only players who would be able to easily get in their side though, meaning of the 9 positions made up between Goal keeper and midfield we only have 2 players better/on a level with them, they're the better side atm, not a massive amount in it and they aren't a particularly strong Italian side but our international team is cringeworthy atm.

 

As I say they have a habbit of not turning up on match day one though so perhaps we can get a result.

Japan won the Asia Cup to get into the Confederations Cup, it had nothing to do with a world cup showing so if youre going to call me an "absolute moron" at least get your facts right so you dont look like the moron yourself.

Italy's qualifying group was that bad the runners up didn't even get a play off place because they didn't accumulate enough points.. Italy had exactly the same results as us yet finished six points clear but we were in the easy group..

So you're saying Japan are better competition for Italy and the other teams in the Confederations Cup because they won the Asia Cup? You're getting worse.. Don't justify Japan being in that competition and try and make them out to be a good side because of winning the Asia Cup.

Yeah I know I'm not saying that, or at least I'm not trying to. All I'm saying is that they were much better than us in 2012, they did outplay us and outpass us, but we drew 0-0. So to be writing us off or saying there's no chance for us at the World Cup because we play them again is silly. We've every chance they "outplay" us and batter us 0-0 again. 

 

There's every chance we'll outplay Costa Rica and batter them 0-0, that's football and not really the arguement. The point being made is they are the better side, and therefore will be more likely to win.
