The Guvnor Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I listen to talksport most day's can't understand all the hate for Durham, he has been very complimentary about Leicester. He is provocative because this is his style to promote discussion, he has the daily Arsenal dig to which Arsenal fans always bite. if you don't like him don't listen.
Gerard Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 He's a professional WUM, you have to take what he says with a large pinch of salt.
Dames Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Besides the tripe he's written about Vardy during the match I think he's spot on. Hodgson will 100% take a front 4 of Rooney, Kane, Sturridge and Welbeck as long as they are fit/half fit regardless of form, the same will apply to Jack Wilshere. This isn't because of Vardy this is because of Hodgson's obsession with 'Big Club' players (Jesse Lingard probably has a better chance of making the Euros squad because of this) mixed in with some slight loyalty to what players did a few years ago. Its a sad state of things but at least if it happens we won't have to worry about Vardy or Drinkys knees blowing up in the summer like Owen in 06.
Dan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I think they have to prove they can play Hodgson's way, Vardy so far hasn't for England, Drinkwater hasn't had a chance, it does look like he will get his chance though. If you think of some of the most talented players, players like Le Tissier or Ibrahimovich or Berbatov who are brilliant but lazy and will not chase lost causes all day like Vardy, or fantastic goal scorers like Defoe, Yakubu or Austin who contribute little else other than goals. I wouldn't swap any of them for Vardy, not because Vardy is a better player, or a better goal scorer, but because he is better suited to our game. The fact that England's game is turgid, boring and painful to watch is one thing and hopefully something Hodgson looks to change to utilise the pace of our forwards, but if Hodgson has a way of playing and Vardy and Drinkwater can't adapt to play that way then there is no point picking them. The only way England will win anything is as a team and they need the players that fit that team, and not a CF stuck out on the left, or a man with Vardy's pace being used to hold the ball up and bring the attacking trio behind into play. Good post, can't argue with that. The problem in my eyes is I think Hodgson's got it in his head that we're a lot better than we actually are. Could you see him producing a formation and team to really trouble a top side like Leicester can? I'm not seeing it sadly and it's for that reason I think we'll do the usual.
Captain... Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Good post, can't argue with that. Don't disagree there, beating dross in the qualifiers playing terrible boring football is irrelevant to a tournament when we will come up against better teams and we don't have a game plan to beat better teams we are only able to beat teams that are worse than us because we have no inventiveness creative flair or any real drive or pace. You can play that kind of football when you are the best in the world and have outstanding individual talent, Barcelona/Spain because success with that formation is based on being better players from 1-11 and just playing the other team to death. To do what we (Leicester) have done this season is not allow other teams to do that too us and to work as a cohesive unit of 11 players to be better than the sum of our parts. The truth is take one player out of our team and we are weaker as a team and they are weaker as an individual. England play terrible boring football, for that reason I can understand Hodgson picking lots of United players, because they also play terrible boring football, and no players from Leicester, Palace or West Ham as we like to have a go and don't value possession over things like goals. I also expect them to be as successful at this tournament as United are at the moment.
neiltheblue Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 There are several things worth noting about the said Mr Durham 1 He looks like the runt of Jim Davison's litter. 2 He is a Sabatarian Christian so he believes in fairies and needs Sunday off to do it. 3 He is quoted as saying that Tony Blair is our greatest ever Prime Minister. 4 When Arsenal fans threw bananas at Adebayor he defended them saying he often took fruit to football matches!?!
filbertstreet Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 his brother county is a bit shit as well
Tuna Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Sorry lads, couldn't find a censored image. Hope you're not eating.
FoxFossil Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 England have no chance at the Euro's - who is going to score other than Citizen Kane if Vardy doesn't play. Who is providing CM leadership, drive and pace? Seriously beginning to wonder if Foxes would beat 'em....
