United fans finding out what its like to be "like everyone else".

Man Utd got lucky. Some people make out like they've won title after title spending no money.

How is what they have done and what Man City done any different, really? The only difference is Man Utd are naturally a bi club and will reap the benefits of the modern era easier.

They're all the same to me, it's all based on money. Chelsea and Man Utd both have tossers for fans, that's why I like to see them both lose.

So back to your earlier comment about it being cringeworthy to want them to lose, that's bollocks. They have a couple of cvntish fanbases and I hate some of the players on both teams. That's far more significant than rich owners being in control of them, which is really not the fault of any fanbase, is it?

I don't think Chelsea deserve to be hated because they have Abramovich, they deserve to be hated because they support Abramovich's hire and fire policy, they're impatient, hugely ignorant about most football matters, and worship players like John Terry.

United it's similar. Hate their fans, hate their players, hated Fergie as a bloke.

Man Utd produced a lot of their title winning team. Man City got lucky with a sugar daddy.

The timing was right for Man Utd but they are nowhere near a bigger 'offender' than Man City, or Chelsea.

I said that supporting 'schemes' like Abramovich & the Man City Arab as a neutral is cringeworthy. I as a neutral cannot bring myself to support what the likes of Chelsea as a club do - yet people do it because it might stop the biggest and most successful club winning anything.

Arsenal top this year. There's a lot I don't like about them too but I'd certainly rather them than Chelsea or Man City.

Was listening to 5live earlier and totally agreed with what they were saying. Moyes walked into a tough job. United need a new midfield, as well as players like Ferdinand replacing now... The £27million he spent on Fellaini was ridiculous imo, but Ferguson has left him with an 'average' squad (using that term loose again). Compare that to the solid base that Moyes left Martinez at Everton.

He had a hard job to do from the off because the squad was full of average players. Agree that he didn't handle it well. It reached almost desperation towards the end of the summer and then he went and blew £27mil on Fellaini. Absolutely terrible signing.

Yes it's not an amazing squad, but should it be four points behind Newcastle, who were 16th last season, have brought in one loan player and have Joe Kinnear running things?

Moyes was an insanely overrated manager before taking the post, I knew it would end in tears. I don't understand the thought process of giving Moyes the biggest job in the country, it's truly laughable.

I agree 100%.

I'm in a minority I'm sure in that I used to quite like Man U, not Ferguson or their fans, but respected their continued success as a team. I found it hard to believe that they gave Moyes the job, almost arrogant actually, that they thought they would continue to be successfull with him in charge. And whilst I don't blame Moyes for accepting the job, I'm still confused as to how he ever thought he was good enough to carry on the job.

Oh no chance. Newcastle have really surprised me this season, I said they'd go down. I've never once said Moyes has done a good job - because he hasn't.

I don't think Fergie would've won it this year. This Arsenal side is the best side I've seen in the PL in years. Ozil, Flamini and the form of Ramsey/Giroud has made the difference from a good side to an excellent one.

Newcastle were absolutely ruined by injuries last season as well as the extra europa league fixtures. They're like Burnley, they have a very good first 11, but when you start to scratch beneath the surface there's not much above championship quality there.

Think theres been a deterioration of Ferdinand and Vidic as a partnership and that will need to be rectified certainly.

They need midfield quality in there too.

Dont think Moyes helped himself by bringing in his own staff so quickly. A large adaptation period is bound to be needed at such a big club and to have had existing staff there to have helped him initially would have been a big help IMO

Anyone think United's time 'is over'?

I've always said football moves in a circle and they were talking about this on 5live... I found it interesting that they said how Liverpool were the best team and are not now, just like Huddersfield were many years before under the great Chapman. You know, United have dominated the PL era and is it time for another team now?

Rafael made something like 28 appearances for them in the Premier League last season and 40 appearances overall. Man Utd needed Paul Scholes coming out of retirement! Yeah, I'd definitely say they had some average players getting lots of minutes last season. Is it any wonder than no English team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season when that Man Utd squad was far and away the best team in its league?

Every contender in the PL at least reinforced their squad last summer; most improved their squads significantly. Meanwhile, Man Utd spent insane money on Fellaini.

The Premier League last year was the weakest it's ever been for me. Man City actually regressed after spending, Chelsea were a mess, Arsenal disappointed like most years, Spurs choked.

Man Utd won the title so comfortably last year because of how weak the division was, not because of them being overly brilliant. Their attack is still one of the best in the league but their midfield is slightly above average for me, as is their defence.

I'd argue it was largely backed up by the fact not a single Premier League side got further than bloody Galatasaray in Europe last year.
