Bolton Post Match Thread 5 - 3

If we play as well in the 2nd half of the season as we did the first half, we'll end the season on 96 points.

I'll settle for 85!!!

That's how we like our football

Dyer MOTM today, tore them to pieces. Our defending was really pathetic for the 3 goals but some of our play on the ball was a joy to watch.

I worry for us if we get injuries but 4 points clear is a great boost. It's the kind of lead that's ours to throw away, 3 points should be the expectation at Millwall but it would be typical of us to struggle there. Vardy will be a big loss.

Nugent played much better today but the penalty once again proves that he isn't a man to be trusted in a pressure situation.

What I didn't get about today was why Beckford was getting a load of stick when Mills wasn't. Some people are just a bit clueless, anyone who paid attention that season will remember that Beckford was shit whereas Mills was shit and a total bellend. He was by far the bigger w*nker. And why the own goal wasn't given to him I'm not sure when it clearly came off him, not Ream.....

Great match.

Neither, it's cause Gally will probably get a hefty promotion bonus if we go up.

Tanks for clearing that up :)

Defence was atrocious in the first half, there's no getting away from that.

But what a great game! Before Bolton scored we were magnificent and the second half we controlled from start to finish. Fantastic performances from Drinkwater (again), James and Dyer.

One of the strangest games I've ever seen. We were in so much control for the majority of the game but let in 3 of the softest goals you'll ever see.

Going forward we were a joy to watch. Vardy, Dyer and Nuge seem to have a great understanding of each other.

10 points from those 4 games really has got me thinking this could be our season. A lot of hard work still to do but there's no harm dreaming :)

Can somebody share what they thought about the Zat Knight/Jamie Vardy incident? I honestly thought that Knight had his hand round his throat! If true it is an absolute disgrace that he got away with that!

I agree Liam, after the initial head to head bollox, knight seemed to grab vardy around the throat. It was this that seemed to result in the linesman flagging. A booking a piece seemed about right though. A Bolton free kick for the re-start definitely didn't.

He did. God knows what went on between ref and Lino there. If the Lino told the ref he grabbed him round the throat then the ref has made an inexplicable decision. If the Lino hasn't told him that then he's a blind fool.

Either way Knight should have been sent off.

ok defending not the best in the 1st half fully agree but city never let go of ther goal and just kept going sign of a strong team and just look at the league table 4 pts clear well done the lads today

I have just said that on the way home.

And once again i'll hold my hands up happily and admit to being very wrong after suggesting he'd be better suited to League 1. Very happy to say that i'm wrong.

It was his technique that I questioned but when you play with that much determination, aggression and have that much pace it almost doesn't matter. His work-rate is unbelievable.

When we got the penalty today my brother-in-law (Liverpool fan) text me 'how the fvck do you lot get so many pens?' and I replied 'Jamie Vardy'. The guys won just about all of those pens. Nuge must love him.

A very strange game, first half at least.Boltons first goal looked a fluke to me then we allowed Beckford too much room.To concede immediately after Knocky's equaliser was poor too.

Second half our superiority told but until GTF scored I did not feel the 3 points were ours.

A rollercoaster of a game, despite our apparent superiority.

What a match and what a performance. Still perplexed with how we conceded 3 goals in the 1st half, that was the only time when Bolton were dangerous. But we were the better team throughout and credit to our players for keeping their heads up and showing the determination we needed to win the game.

Dyer played one of his best games in a Leicester shirt and I've criticised him in the past for playing poor final balls and not being able to hit the target but today, he showed his true quality. Lovely cross for Knockaert's headed goal and scoring from a brilliant run, I'm very pleased for him.

Bolton were very lucky to have finished the game with 11 men, Knight should have been sent off for grabbing Vardy's neck but only got a yellow. And I thought Lonergan should have been off as well for fouling Vardy and denying him a goalscoring opportunity but didn't even get booked!

We won nevertheless and are sitting pretty at the top of the league. Not getting carried away but fingers crossed that 2014 will be a year for us to enjoy and remember!

Nice to see this quote from Dougie Freedman:

"The plan was working in the first half and I felt it was an end-to-end game.

"That's the only way you can play against Leicester and we scored three fantastic goals. I was a bit disappointed in the manner of their goals because I think they were a little bit soft.

"But they are a million miles away the best team in this division so to defend against them for 90 minutes is very difficult."

Posted in the Vardy suspension thread too. Granted it's only a still shot so is always going to look worse than it was, but I'm not sure why this is only a yellow.

Great comments from Freedman - always nice when an opposing manager is gracious in defeat.

That's because he's a decent bloke and can take losing. Unlike Adkins.

Adkins - "We were the better team after the lights went out" did some **** knock his glasses off too?!

Haha. He's a nob.

Does anyone else notice that Drinkwater is always reluctant to pass to Knocky?

And that tw&t at Forest, Bert, who is so obnoxious. Great result and a team that is millions times better than anyone else in the league. Well said Dougie!

Yes, been thinking that for a few weeks to be honest.
