Haydos Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 It genuinely was better back then. There was a large group of knowledgeable posters and lively, informed discussion in the lcfc forum. Threads in here (gen chat) sometimes really took off also. Perhaps they were just more innocent, carefree times. It maybe helped that expectation from the team was almost zero. I miss Thracian's genuine enthusiasm for players coming through - a McKay, a gradel, a porter, a tommy tejan-sie. Etc. Why do a few of the old guard feel the need to convince newer posters of that on a repeated basis though? It's like childish showing off. 95% of you don't mention it but you for example bring it up every few weeks it seems.
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I didn't bring it up. It's being discussed in this thread. It's my opinion. I see it from another perspective that some of the newer members are really needlessly defensive over it. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

I see it from another perspective that some of the newer members are really needlessly defensive over it. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Well if it wasn't brought up people wouldn't be defensive let alone overly defensive. I think what irks people is that some seem to lump anyone from post 2008 in one basket, which might be why some get a bit mardy about it. For every KingFox or cityfanlee there's a MattP or Captain Pancake Face. I've been posting since around 2009 and I've noticed parts of the forum getting worse. More and more posters starting the same thread over and over, or starting a new thread when there's blatantly one already there one the subject at the top of the page. But that's what mods are for, to clear it up. I've noticed more and more people trying to be overly controversial, whether in the lcfc forum or general chat, but you just ignore them and don't feed them. Anyway I'm not looking to argue with you again, that's all water under the bridge, but I think we should all just enjoy the rich variety of posters we have on here and stop reminiscing of times gone by.
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Agree completely. Things change. You adapt and make your choices. If this place was that bad, I wouldn't come here. To be fair, I asked to be banned from lcfc section since otherwise I never stop correcting idiots. We have a better class of idiot over here in gen chat.
Rincewind Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Don't forget you were a lot younger back then TPH. Carefree single revolution ally and no family or money worries and always ready to joke around with others. Now you are a maturer older man with responsibilities. The old good old days are in the past.Welcome to the new good old days.

I'm tempted to ask to be banned from the lcfc forum too, which is ironic as Leicester is what brought us all here in the first place. I rarely post in there now anyway, it's not good for stress levels!
Rincewind Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I don't post much in the football section mostly match days so am not involved in the handbag fights that go on or know who the worst shit stirrers are. As I do not go to the games I do not feel comfortable posting opinions of games players or manager tactics. I just enjoy watching and not interested in the finer details of the game. Real life takes priority and life is too short to get worked up over football.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 January 2014 Posted 21 January 2014 You're joking right? How about people who simply just don't know about the forum and then one day stumble across it? Clearly they aren't proper fans. I never thought thought to look for an online forum because I always talked to friends and family. Having been a member of the forum for a while doesn't make someone a 'proper football fan'. Maybe they just have less off line friends. Ridiculous post. Not really, the members base nearly doubled as soon as we got better, would be a mighty big coincidence if that was down to all those people just stumbling upon the site in 2010. Although if you want to talk about ridiculous posts, I never said you weren't a proper football fan if you weren't registered on here in 2008, I said this place was mainly made up of proper football fans, not that this place was an exclusive club and all proper Leicester supporting fans were registered here on Foxestalk. Obviously there were plenty of clued up fans who used another site or non at all. Disappointing from you thought you had a bit more about you than that, i.e you could read and understand. Classic case of the inferiority complex some have on here, I am merely telling it how it is.

Webbo Posted 21 January 2014 Posted 21 January 2014 With the growth of the internet, it was always going to happen regardless of team performance. Absolutely, I joined this forum less than a week after I got broadband and I'd guess that's true for a lot of people.

But don't worry, every now and again I am sure we'll have a disagreement. I also like to drink and post, so they are not always the most thought through! As others have said internet usage has continued to grow and so will people joining. Agreed, as the number increases we'll have more people who don't have the foggiest what they are going on about! I will freely admit I joined when Sven started. Yes, it was due to being in the news more which definitely rejuvenated my interest in the club. I also had a rather boring job so I surfed more and I was stateside and craving news from Leicester. Anyway, the internet is not the best place for nuanced argument, so I'll stick by my original interpretation of your post

Zingari Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Much like being Leicester fan.. i didnt choose it.. it was thrust upon me... I dont know what i did to deserve it "some people are born Leicester fans , some become Leicester fans , others have Leicester fanaticism thrust upon them". (Craig Shakespeare)

The Horse's Mouth Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 How has this **** not been closed anyway?
ADK Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Germany has a law against it, not sure if you go to prison or just get fined.
MC Prussian Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Thread of the Year, it's had everything. Not enough "banter".
ADK Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_against_Holocaust_denial Geniuenly shocked at some of the view points in here, I know there are a few stupid people on here but this is taking the piss. Yeah, just Germany Actually surprised by how many countries are willing to lock people up for holding an unpopular opinion.
