Soup Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Not trendy enough mate. You're only really a martyr if it's for a prescribed period when all the other cool cats are doing it. True.We really are a pied piper nation ain't we.
Bayfox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Fair play to you mate. I considered doing it but to be honest the thought of derby next friday without being able to have a beer with the lads meant I didnt think I could do it full justice. so my aim for the next year is to cut down on the sheer number of nights out! But good for you if you can say your genuinely going to go a whole month with no drink whatever the circumstances. A mate of mine is doing it and has raised roughly 12 pound a day so far. So whatever the reasons behind it if he can raise 300 or 400 notes by the end of the month then I wont knock it.
Tincy Posted 8 January 2014 Author Posted 8 January 2014 Managed to raise £20 so far, just another £20 and I've hit my target.
Rincewind Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 There is a beer fest at the Kings Head later this month so I'l; opt out of abstaining but if I can I;ll donate something. It is a good cause.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 By that logic, I'm seeking sponsorship to continue to drink this January. Something which is entirely self serving anyway ( just like not drinking). Why anyone would sponsor someone's lifestyle choice I have no idea. Think you've hit the nail on the head here Let's all stop doing stupid shit and making twats out of ourself and donate a reasonable amount to charity every year, cut out the middle man. Most importantly no one has to stop drinking, sobriety is far too boring.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Does my year round dryathlon count? No, if you were to start again for a month, you may qualify for a wetathon. You have to spend the whole month plastered though.
The People's Hero Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Think you've hit the nail on the head here Let's all stop doing stupid shit and making twats out of ourself and donate a reasonable amount to charity every year, cut out the middle man. Most importantly no one has to stop drinking, sobriety is far too boring. Indeed mate. I pretty much exclusively tell it like it is now. Much to the consternation of the homogenous, boring FT populace as a whole.
Dan Posted 9 January 2014 Posted 9 January 2014 I've not done this but honestly think I'd have no trouble if I tried. Never been overly arsed by drinking (although I still do it every now and then).
Tincy Posted 10 January 2014 Author Posted 10 January 2014 Going to be tough tonight not drinking, but I'm determined to do this!
Tincy Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 Still not had a drink, was really tough Friday night but managed to resist temptation
FoxesAreBlue Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I buckled. I'll survive, wasn't doing it for money anyway.
goose2010 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Was talking to my mates about doing this and the conclusion was it would be more impressive to drink 31 days solid that to not drink for 31 days. Good luck to those who are doing it only 16 days to go!
Tincy Posted 17 January 2014 Author Posted 17 January 2014 I'm finding it very difficult, but determined to do it!
JonnyBoy Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 People who consider this difficult clearly have no worries in life or have alcohol dependency. Fighting cancer for example or bereavement are difficult, not having a swig for 31 days really is a first world problem.
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I'm so far 18 days in to a wetathlon, having drank every day (and on no day am I talking a cursory single beer). I've enjoyed every evening. Not so much the mornings.
Carl the Llama Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I'm so far 18 days in to a wetathlon, having drank every day (and on no day am I talking a cursory single beer). I've enjoyed every evening. Not so much the mornings. I'm doing a similar thing except with cannabis. I can't remember if I've enjoyed it or not.
Tincy Posted 19 January 2014 Author Posted 19 January 2014 I crumbled, got absolutely shit faced yesterday
Soar Fox Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I crumbled, got absolutely shit faced yesterday So what you going to do with the money you've raised? If you haven't got the will power to see something through for 31 days you shouldn't start at all.
indierich06 Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I crumbled, got absolutely shit faced yesterday FFS, seriously? I was sticking up for you earlier in this thread and you couldn't even last the whole month? What a ****ing waste of time. Hope you give back anything you've 'raised'.
DennisNedry Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 Drunkards, the lot of you I can count on 2 hands the amount of times I drank alcohol in 2013!
Unabomber Posted 19 January 2014 Posted 19 January 2014 I crumbled, got absolutely shit faced yesterday Wow. Imagine if you had been attempting something that actually required any effort.
