jonthefox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Really original that....... There's some miserable buggers on here.I thought that was quite funny.
Kitchandro Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Its just another bog standard copied chant from Leeds, that nobody can be arsed to personalise to Jamie Vardy. Its not exactly hard to change the words to something which we can then call our own. Frustrates me that most clubs have songs unique to them, and yet one of our size needs to nick the crap ones from everyone else. We will never have a decent, intimidating atmosphere when half the time we are singing the same stuff as the away fans. What has copying songs got to do with not having an intimidating atmosphere? I've never heard Leeds sing that so it makes no difference to me. Maybe you should just forget Leeds fans sang it and appreciate it as it is?
AndWhat? Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 There's some miserable buggers on here.I thought that was quite funny. I actually like it as well. I was just pointing out Larry's hypocrisy.
Kitchandro Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Oh so its even more unoriginal then. Brilliant. Its just like "we love you" - every club we sing it against rips the shit out of us because of it. Literally every tinpot league 1/2 club sing it and now its our main chant - the championship leaders. Makes us look so small time when we cant create our own unique chants. When Your Smiling would be brilliant if people stopped trying to race through it and actually sang it with some passion. Can't we sing WYS and WYL and this Jamie Vardy song? I thought variety of chants is what you wanted? And if so, are you annoyed about the Vardy chant or are you really just annoyed because we don't sing the traditional songs like WYS enough?
Kitchandro Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 one of the best moments of the game was when a bloke kept shouting 'MARK THE WINGS' a group of us had a right laugh for about 10 minutes... 'were Leicester city, we'll mark who we want' were leicester city, we dont mark the wings' 'get your wings our for the lads' love that kind of spontaneity Oh WINGS. I kept thinking, why do they keep singing about minge?
Exeter Fox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 So much song snobbery in here. The vast majority of songs that aren't completely cringe worthy (mauled by the tigers I'm looking at you) will sound decent if sung loudly. I'd love more unique and historic chants I.e. WYS to be sung more often. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't sing songs just because other teams do, or have done.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Oh WINGS. I kept thinking, why do they keep singing about minge? GOLD.
Corky Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Why don't we just sing lots of songs? Sure, some will be crap but if we keep trying new and different things then at least we can pick and choose. Also, at the risk of being hypocritical, can we cut the Sloop John B stuff down abit? It's fine for Liam Moore, it's his own song, but let's stick to the normal "We are top of the league" whilst we reside there.
KFS Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO... MOMO SYLLA You want a classic chant you fvckers? Get your teeth into that cracker
C-man Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO... MOMO SYLLA You want a classic chant you fvckers? Get your teeth into that cracker I was thinking about this earlier actually when I heard Chelsea singing the tune for Eden Hazard. Seems like the Yaya/Kolo version is taking all the credit when I remember singing it in 2005 for our boy Momo!
SystonFox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 How does the yolo / kaya toure chant go? I've seen the wankfest on twitter but I'm not aware of if. Also the HANDBALL thing is mega shit, Yanited fans do it and they are cvnts
Larry_LCFC Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 I actually like it as well. I was just pointing out Larry's hypocrisy. Think you need to look up these big words your using in a dictionary because you clearly don't understand the meaning of them. Can't we sing WYS and WYL and this Jamie Vardy song? I thought variety of chants is what you wanted? And if so, are you annoyed about the Vardy chant or are you really just annoyed because we don't sing the traditional songs like WYS enough? But how long are we going to cling on to WLY? Its nowhere near as loud as it used to be purely because I think people are bored of it. WYS could be a bit of a club anthem if people actually slowed it down and sang it properly. Something that other clubs only associate with us like Marching on together for Leeds. I would be perfectly happy singing the generic chants that everyone else sings, if we actually had some unique stuff to sing aswell that makes us stand out. Every club in the PL has its own songs/chants. At the minute, all we are singing is stuff nicked from everyone else.

At this rate we will have no songs. It's a good laugh to take the p*ss out of the opposition fans claiming handball for nothing! Absolutely harmless and certainly not "mega shit

Larry_LCFC Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 If you like Leeds fans so much why don't you go to their games? Always thought you were a decent poster Wookie, but what a ridiculous comment to make . It is well known that Leeds have some of the best vocal support, hence why I used them as an example. I could have used Man United, Chelsea, West Ham. They all have their own songs. Even forest does with Mull of Kintyre. Shall I go and support them aswell? I just want a better atmosphere and some new decent chants that we can build on. No need to be a dick.

After reading your input in this thread and the sitting at away days thread, I can guarantee if every fan we had was like you we would have the worst atmosphere in the country. Far from those amazing Leeds fans you seem to love so much.

Try and offer something constructive about our atmosphere rather than throwing pathetic insults around.
EnglishOxide Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Im on Larrys side here. We seem to catch onto the latest fad (poznan, wly) and it gets shitter and shitter for 6 months. That is what tinpot shithole clubs like Reading and Watford do. You dont see Palace, Leeds, Forest, Derby and Wednesday coming to our place and singing the same songs as each other do you? Thats the point. We've got the Melbourne chant. We have WYS and L.C.F.C and thats it, but the latter two rarely get an airing. Its a shame Allez Les Bleus didnt catch on a couple of games ago as the thickos in L1 couldn't understand a couple of slow paced French words. To be honest our best trait is on opposition goal kicks. Calling the GK shit is old fashioned yet brilliantly cutting, traditional and simple.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO-MOMO MOMO... MOMO SYLLA You want a classic chant you fvckers? Get your teeth into that cracker We were chanting IWAN, IWAN IWAN, IWAN IWAN, IWAN, IWAM ROBERTS 20 years ago...
AndWhat? Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Saying the Melbourne chant is original to us is almost as much bullshit as saying WLY is palaces song.

Calling the GK shit is old fashioned yet brilliantly cutting, traditional and simple. I agree partially but I don't think a mix is too bad. It's embarrassing when the majority of things that catch on are nicked off Palace/Celtic after they've verified them for us as acceptable but there's no point letting it get in the way every now and then, Saturday was very decent. It could've been better but it was an improvement. Stoke fans giving a serious mixed review. A lot saying we were excellent and a lot saying we were absolutely terrible.

Again, isn't that about not singing songs you do want, rather than singing ones you don't like? If enough people wanted to sing our traditional songs it wouldn't matter how much of the other shit we sang.

Maybe our fans just are too thick and classless to have a unique songbook that actually sounds good.
