NathanC93 Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Its just another bog standard copied chant from Leeds, that nobody can be arsed to personalise to Jamie Vardy. Its not exactly hard to change the words to something which we can then call our own. Frustrates me that most clubs have songs unique to them, and yet one of our size needs to nick the crap ones from everyone else. We will never have a decent, intimidating atmosphere when half the time we are singing the same stuff as the away fans. Jesus Christ, your comments in this thread... have you just lost a family member or something? Go and have a beer, get laid and come back in a bit when you're not just boring and morbid. All I can say is that fvck I don't share my away games with you!

I don't see how wanting our own original chants that mean something to leicester instead of nicking everyone elses makes me boring. If you kids are happy singing chavvy shit about Jamie Vardy and "We love you" like everyone else in the country, go ahead.

Larry_LCFC Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Believe it or not almost every other club sings the same songs and the ones that are different are 'nicked' from other clubs.Guess its just the sign of the times. Gone have the filbert street days.

Pipe down with the kids shite, your profile says you're 24 so hardly a veteran from the glory days are you? Doesn't sound like you're someone who tries to join in or create atmosphere so why slate those who are singing along at every given opportunity?
Foxes1 Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Bring back the old songs like 'You've not seen nothing like the mighty string' or 'You've not seen nothing like the mighty Finn' or 'Lenny Lenny Glover Lenny Glover on the wing' or 'It was one of those goals that you'll never forget a cross from our Len and the balls in the net One of those goals that you see now and then And the Spion Kop knows that they'll see it again' or that all time classic 'Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo' complete with the jumping up and down
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 You can't help change the atmosphere even if you want to. Anyone doing anything but sitting in silence in the West Stand is frowned upon and even in the Kop they'll be some mother complaining about a mild expletive or two corrupting the ears of her supposedly angelic little Johnnie. Then you've got strategically-played music competing with the fans, stewards ready to pounce on anyone looking vaguelly animated, a great gap between rival fans designed to sanitise any potential rivalry and so on. Many "older" fans have already dismounted from their "high horses" and have taken to grazing quietly at home with the radio because it's just as exciting, a lot cheaper and much less hassle...hence our crowds that rarely nudge much over 22,000 nowadays, even with us top of the table. Mind you, by the time Soulsby's finished fouling every available on-street parking place, high horses and bicyles might be the favoured form of transport all over again! Of course football has a very different demographic to 20/30 years ago. But the reason the younger lot don't know many of the old songs is because they don't get aired anymore. I hear the occasional WYS, Molly Malone, but that's about it. If everyone just leaves the responsibility for starting chants to other people you are going to get the same old songs churned out over and over. I do agree with your point however that football clubs as a whole do everything possible to dilute any sort of atmosphere. Just seems rather petty to complain about the atmosphere 'not being the same' because it never will be now Filbo is gone. There will always be some like minded fans wanting to make noise around you (unless you're in the prawn sandwich area) just takes a few blokes together to get it going.
Stadt Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 The old people complaining about the old songs not being sung are the same old people not singing the old songs.
GingerrrFox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Bring back the old songs like 'You've not seen nothing like the mighty string' or 'You've not seen nothing like the mighty Finn' or 'Lenny Lenny Glover Lenny Glover on the wing' or 'It was one of those goals that you'll never forget a cross from our Len and the balls in the net One of those goals that you see now and then And the Spion Kop knows that they'll see it again' or that all time classic 'Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo,Gibbo' complete with the jumping up and down Why? The old times are gone. I'm not big into atmosphere discussion because it's not why I enjoy football but surely in the modern era we should be creating songs for our players now rather than old ones.
Berlinfox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 There seems to be an incredible amount of nostalgia on this forum about how great the atmosphere was at football in the past. You would expect this great atmosphere to have been reflected in huge crowds (compared to the 'mere' 22,000 who show up to enjoy the flat experience of modern football at the KP). Well, I have just been checking the records and I see that in the four seasons that Leicester were in the old Division One in the mid-80s the average attendance was: 1983-84 - 14,923 1984-85 - 14,530 1985-86 - 11,792 1986-87 - 11,697 There was clearly something about going to football matches thirty years ago that was a lot less attractive than it is today and it certainly wasn't the ticket prices. My recollection of the 'atmosphere' at football matches thirty years ago is that was a very unpleasant aspect to it with an underlying threat of violence and a pervasive racism. This 'atmophere' clearly drove many, many people away from the game.
Out Foxed Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Why? The old times are gone. I'm not big into atmosphere discussion because it's not why I enjoy football but surely in the modern era we should be creating songs for our players now rather than old ones. nah...
Narborough_fox Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 May as well bin 'by far the greatest team', 'Molly Malone', 'wings of an eagle', 'Iwan is a Welshman' if we are singing factual songs only. And 'Don't sell Knockaert' for that matter, because, and I'm only guessing, we most probably won't riot if we do indeed sell him.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 MARK THE WINGS Who the blazes was shouting that through the entire first half yesterday!?
Munshi Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Who the blazes was shouting that through the entire first half yesterday!? A guy on the left of me was shouting it. 'CITY GET INTO EM AND MARK THE WINGS,MARK THE WINGS'
JonnyBoy Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 one of the best moments of the game was when a bloke kept shouting 'MARK THE WINGS' a group of us had a right laugh for about 10 minutes... 'were Leicester city, we'll mark who we want' were leicester city, we dont mark the wings' 'get your wings our for the lads' love that kind of spontaneity

Stoke fans were trying to claim for everything
AndWhat? Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Thought our whole stand shouting handball every time they touched the ball was pretty funny. Stoke fans were trying to claim for everything Really original that.......
Larry_LCFC Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Really original that....... It was something spontaneous that lasted a minute to take the piss out of the opposition fans and shut them up, which it did. Hardly the same thing is it?

JonnyBoy Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 'Nigel, Mark your wings, Nigel Nigel mark your wings' was brilliant. probably about 10 of us but was a right laugh. better than what was happening on the pitch! the little things
Corky Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Our fans were at their best this season at Watford, spontaneous and quite witty too.
BrummieFOX Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Our fans were at their best this season at Watford, spontaneous and quite witty too.Yea we were good that day. When that bit of rubbish blew onto the pitch, "That's from your building site, that's from your building site...". .
