Am I the only one who thinks that he is lightweight, can't tackle, can't take men on and goes missing? He may have the touch of Gary Taylor Fletcher but every time I've seen him play he's just come across as a whiny little bitch who does fcuk all. I think he's still in Drinkwater's pocket from August.

He's a bit lightweight, but he certainly doesn't do nothing. He has a very good touch and keeps the ball very well.

He'll have the kiss of death though because he's young, English and wanted by top flight clubs.

I think technically he is very good, but he hasn't got the ability to dictate games like Drinkwater and James imo. He is seriously overrated though, and some of the figures that were being branded around for him are ridiculous.

Still growing in terms of physique and experience. I'd like to see where he is in a few years before making too rash a judgement.

Similar to what I was going to say, he's still very young.

He'll make progress but he's nowhere near ready for Premier League football or, it would appear, top end Championship football just yet.

Very overrated. Doesn't score many, doesn't really tackle, just gets the ball and passes it sideways. Would rather have Drinkwater that Hughes.

Definitely, Drinkwater was peerless last night.

Abit like a skinny white dyer of the last seasons!!

He's still very young lets not forget

I think any Premier League club who invested in him would need to be aware he's a long term purchase, as would Hughes himself.

He'd have to be prepared to 'make do' with the odd League Cup run out or possibly a loan or two for the first couple of years, he has the potential to be a very good player but he's a long way from the finished article.

He should get signed by Swansea and then he should get loaned to Espanyol or someone like that.

The poor twat is anemic & would probably get asked for ID if buying cigarettes........but he's only 18.

I can't stand Derby & are my least favourite team, so find it very difficult to give any of their players any praise, but there can't be many better 18 year olds around playing regular football.

There is interest from some big clubs - so I would say he must have shown genuine signs of ability sometimes........even if I haven't seen what the fuss is about myself.  He has a long way to go in his development, both physically & technically.

There were times last night that I thought he might have believed all the hype & it had maybe gone to his head - whining & throwing a tantrum here & there when things weren't going his way.  Typical teenager behaviour.

Average player and had an abysmal attitude last night, shoulders slumped, poor effort and was whining all night long. Maybe one day he might be as good as Jay Spearing or someone.

You would think he would be used to losing having played so many games for derby.

I think it is in Bounce by Matthew Syed that there is an interesting passage where the author talks about how a disproportionately high number of footballers have blond hair because when looking at a crowded pitch, and sometimes looking at hundreds of young players a day, scouts' eyes are drawn to those players that stand out physically, and blond hair is a great example of something which makes people stand out.

I definitely think there is something of that going on with Hughes. Clearly we haven't seen the best of him against us, but I must have seen him play 5 times now and he's yet to have a decent game.
