Lineker's Left Foot Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 They have parachute payments though don't they bless em??
Stan Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 "It was well known back in the summer there were problems at leicester with further proof being half the first team is out of contract in june with the owners refusing to offer new ones. Me thinks it is promotion or bust this season, with the owners likely to pull out if you don't go up. Still a long way to go yet ;-)" As opposed to the 15 QPR players out of contract in June.
lancyclaret Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I'd love to see QPR slip up in the play-offs but surely it must worry Leicester fans when Lloyd Dyer voices concerns over players' contracts. I was surprised to see his quotes in today's Sun, saying "A one-year extension has been mentioned but I get the impression they (the club) are not bothered." I thought everyone (the board and players) were supposed tom be singing from the same hymn sheet?
blue army 1988 Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Just browsed the thread on their forum and it seems their a little hipocritical. were in bags of debt, when were not, yet they are. were trying to win the league by splashing the cash. Thats how they failed to stay in the premiership. They start a thread on their forum about us out of the blue, their our main title rivels yet theres people on their who say they dont care about us. Baffles me!

KFS Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 They are, Lloyd Dyer isn't the type to speak to the media let alone kick up a fuss. There's an assault on Leicester from the media recently, and it's bloody annoying. With all due respect, we're getting on with it. If Dyche was in this position it'd be the reason behind losing. The only people that seem to really care about this is the media and opposing fans.

TJB-fox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Glad we shat all over their so called fortress, ****ing idiots
lancyclaret Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Don't think Lloyd Dyer has ever spoken to the media so it's unlikely he's said that It is a "direct" quote from Dyer:).....no professional journalist would risk misquoting a player or make things up in case he/she got sued. It could cost the paper a lot of money if Dyer complained he was misquoted. I will confidently say that I am sure Dyer spoke to the journalist who quoted him accurately. Some players are bound to feel unsettled if they don't know where they will be playing in August and don't know how much they will be earning. Konchesky has taken a pay cut because he is now a veteran and realises he almost certainly won't get a better offer.

So you know for certain whatever 'quote' wasn't taken in any way out of context in the bastion of journalistic virtue that is The Sun? Must be nice to just be spoon fed media and soak it up at face value.

Absolutely this, complete epitome of the idea of spoon feeding.Sociologists would have a field day with this attitude if we were discussing political affairs. Lloyd has spoken to the media about 4 times over 4 years, virtually each time confessing his love for the club. This would be completely out of character, and since the media are masturbating furiously over the thought of 11 players walking out if the King Power, I'm highly sceptical of this. A Burnley fan claiming a position of authority to speak about Lloyds feelings, yeah I'm not losing any sleep over this one.

Whilst I don't dispute what was said, there is no context to the quote nor any date attached to this quote. The point I'm making is when he says 'they' he could have been referring to the other out of contract player's as the quote may not necessarily be firsthand and the Sun reporter has assumed Lloyd meant the club. Also this quote could well have been made in the summer when we were not in a position to offer any contracts. I'd be very surprised if given the season Lloyd has had the club didn't see a contract offer as a priority especially seeing as Konchesky and Morgan have accepted deals. I have no doubt in my mind that if Lloyd was offered a deal he'd sign in an instant as he loves the club and is Leicester through and through. Even during the dark days when he was struggling to make the squad he never kicked up a fuss and just got on with things like a good professional. Not only that but he is also very close to the management team so make what you want of that particular article.
lancyclaret Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 What has the Sun journalist got to gain by misquoting Dyer or making up the quote? He/she would be risking the sack/financial penalty or even both if his editor discovered the story was untrue. I am speaking from experience having worked on national newspapers (not the Sun) and Birmingham evening/morning papers for more than 30 years. I got the address of a police drugs raid carelessly but innocently wrong when I was trainee in the 1970s and it cost the paper a relative fortune to persuade the doctor (GP) who lived at that address not to sue.

I'll type it out for you from this morning's copy of The Sun:). Lloyd Dyer last night SLAMMED Leicester for their treatment of players over new deals. The Foxes midfielder is one of 11 stars whose contracts are due to run out at the Championship leaders. Dyer, 31, said: "A one-year extension has been mentioned but I get the impression they are not bothered. "I love the club and want to stay for the rest of my career." Lloyd Dyer
lgfualol Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I can't imagine Lloyd being like that. Just take the one year mate.

Jace Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Why is it so hard to believe that the players whose contacts are about to run out this summer and not been given discussion yet about renewing are not happy by this?
MrSpaM Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Wow, I'd be embarrassed to be a QPR fan after reading some of that.
lancyclaret Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Nugent will take a pay cut for the privilege of playing PL football again after he got a taste for it with Pompey and Burnley.

Lloyd Dyer If what you've taken from that 'article' is that Lloyd's unhappy and might leave instead of realising it's simply 2 innocuous comments(the 2nd of which reaffirming how happy he is here) tacked onto the end a sensationalist string of drivel, then you've learned very little from your time working with papers.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 They have as many shit talkers on there as we do on here. Not sure why people are getting worked up over it, when it's obvious they're not knowledgeable about our club.
