Leicester City’s Barclays Under-21 Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Monday (3 February) will now be played at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry (kick-off 7pm).
All pre-purchased tickets for the match will be valid for use at the Ricoh Arena, while supporters will also be able to pay for admission on the night, priced £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions. The Ricoh Arena will charge for car parking at £1 for LCFC Season Ticket Holders, on the production of a Season Card, and £3 for non-Season Ticket Holders.

Ahead of a busy run of first team fixtures – which, after Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, will see three out of the next four Sky Bet Championship fixtures played at home – and in view of current weather conditions, the Club acted on advice to relocate the match in order to protect the playing surface at King Power Stadium.

In selecting an alternative venue, the Club gave careful consideration to both the requirements of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League and the facilities necessary to ensure the game goes ahead in view of short-term weather forecasts. Of the available venues in close proximity, it was decided that the Ricoh Arena provided the best possible solution on both counts.

Steve Beaglehole’s Under-21 Development side have been in fine form of late – beating Shrewsbury Town at the Ricoh Arena on Wednesday afternoon in the Final Third Development League and winning their last Premier League encounter at West Bromwich Albion. Monday’s meeting with the Red Devils is likely to be one of their biggest tests of the season, with the current champions of England boasting some of the best young talent from around the world.

Barclays Under-21 Premier League rules also permit the involvement of up to three overage outfield players plus an overage goalkeeper, meaning both clubs could call on the experience of established first team professionals in need of match minutes – a rule that has allowed the likes of Chris Wood, Riyad Mahrez and Matty James to pick up game time during the current campaign.

Supporters attending Monday night’s game can pay for admission on the night, priced £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions. Admission will be in the Lloyds Pharmacy Stand through turnstiles 44-45.

Car parking, charged by the Ricoh Arena, will be priced £1 for LCFC Season Ticket Holders, on the production of a Season Card, and £3 for non-Season Ticket Holders.

Keeping our pitch fresh over a very wet winter period?

Yes...

I seriously think the owners should buy the Ricoh.  Host Reserve Games and make there money back by hosting upto is it 12 concerts a year and another 12 at the king power when plans come to fruiton.  That's 24 concerts probably making atleast £250,000 per concert which amasses too £6m per season!

In theory, a good idea. But it'd be out of use more often than not - could consider corporate events etc there as well though I suppose

the corporate events are already lookef after because lime venues hold the ricoh contract for and theyre massively busy... the ground isnt for sale anyway because the council want to lease it for match days but are happy with what they make from all other events through lime venues and concerts etc... according to a contact who works there

We could also bring more revenue in by hiring it out to the Coventry Cobblers on Saturday afternoons. Think they would be happy to go back home in our second stadium.

Haha gonna make the most of winding Cov fans up with this.

We're taking the piss, we're taking the piss, we're Leicester City we're taking the piss.

Don't worry Cov fans, we'll look after 'your' home ground/stadium whilst you can't afford to pay the rent.

They're out of it for 5 years at least.

Council and club are at loggerheads and neither will back down. That's why they're gonna play at Northampton til their new stadium gets built in Nuneaton.

I was pissed off about this as I wanted to go, but I understand the pitch comes first.

Could they not have used a local non league ground?

no they couldnt . we have to have so many games played at a certain level to keep within fa guidelines for our prem status , hence the ricoh . nothing anyone could do about it . sensible to keep our pitch fresh . theres a link for you to watch it

Fair enough.

Work that one out, having to rent a large empty stadium just to meet guidelines.

The mischievous side of me is quite enjoying the fact that we can afford for our kids to be playing in a stadium that's out of reach for Coventry's finances.

I know they say that 'he who laughs last laughs longest,' but we're really taking that to extremes this season!
