DennisNedry Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I wouldn't swap him for any other striker in the Championship, even with McCormack, Rhodes, Ings or Austin. Nugent on his day is just as good as those players. I like Nuge but I'd take all 4 of those over him.
Grewks Posted 8 February 2014 Author Posted 8 February 2014 It could only happen here. For years, well since Dickov, we've wanted a player that can score at least 15 goals at this level and now we have one certain people constantly criticise him. 8 goals in open play. Let's say that vardy is our pen taker... is 8 goals really enough for nuge?
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 8 goals in open play. Let's say that vardy is our pen taker... is 8 goals really enough for nuge? Would you also be slating Vardy for missed chances, of which he has also had many this season already? He only has 2 more from open play than Nugent and there is no guarantee that he would have put away the number of penalties Nugent has. Both of them have contributed a lot this season. If they put every chance in the back of the net and had 100% pass success they wouldn't be playing for us.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Blimey! Fox 92 is even swearing! I know why.. this thread makes you wanna swear.
Charl91 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Penalties are not the same as scoring regular goals Now that's out of the way, I disagree with this thread. I do think Nugent has missed a lot more sitters than he should have this season, but he does work well with the rest of the team most of the time, and is a valuable asset. He's not at his best this season though, I must admit. But I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him.
foxfanazer Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Leicester fail to win!!!!!!! Quick lets criticise a player! Pathetic
Bilbo Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 8 goals in open play. Let's say that vardy is our pen taker... is 8 goals really enough for nuge? Forget the debate about Nugent, the real question is why do you feel the need to create a topic like this? We are top of the league and Nugent has played a big part in achieving this. You're the sort of person who would win the lottery and then start moaning that your Gold shoes are hurting you. Just enjoy what has so far been a great season and chill the fook out.
lgfualol Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Scapegoat of the week again. 11 games unbeaten, all of which Nuge has started and mostly finished. Got 4 goals and 4 assists last month.
Dickov22 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Nominated for player of the month. Too scorer Loads of assists We draw and he doesn't score= scapegoat. Lets hope he doesn't ever read this forum. It's embarrassing the way he is criticised.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Vardy was far better than nuge against derby. It amazes me how stats block people's judgement. Does 'lack' mean zero? No. The fact he 'lacks' technical ability implies that he has some. No it doesn't. When I say that you lack common sense it's because I feel there is an inherent absence of it, not an inherent presence.
CityBoyOf95 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I know the two strikers have different roles up front but, Vardy puts Nugent to shame with the amount of effort he puts in. He chases every ball to rush the defence and does it well. i've watched Nugent throughtout this season and he seems a different player than last year! Take away the penalty's and it's just not good enough! He's missing a lot of important chances, especially at home! I'm a Nugent fan but I feel he has to gain his place back! If Woods fit enough, play him against Forest!!! THOUGHTS?
AndWhat? Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 These threads about Nugent are getting boring now. I hope he doesn't read this forum.
ARTY_FOX Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Do people really think he contributes nothing?? he was just nominated for player of the month, you dont get nominated for being "a weak link" and plays a vital role in are team.
StanSP Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Like I said to the others, DO ONE. 'I'm a Nugent fan'. Yeah fvcking as if.

Vardinhio Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Nuge has plenty of technical ability, what an embarassing thread.
jmono84 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 He's a top player who beens really good past few games... He defo had an off day tho and should have done better with his chances... He will kno this... 1 poor game in every 6-7 in consistantly good IMO
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Another thread slating Nugent? There are already 2 made today. If this isn't a wind-up thread (which it could be), I'll c&p my response from one of those regarding our winning run: 1. QPR 0 - 1 Leicester - Nugent assist for Vardy's goal. 2. Leicester 1 - 0 Reading - Nugent scores the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. 3. Leicester 5 - 3 Bolton - Missed a penalty (after nodding the ball down for Vardy in the first place) and didn't score but nobody can say he didn't work very hard during that game and he probably deserved a goal. 4. Milwall 1 - 3 Leicester - Nugent's run takes defender away for Knocky's goal and he scores the second goal after good anticipation. 5. Leicester 4 - 1 Derby - Nugent scored two and assisted the other two. Clever one-two with De Laet for the first, bit of luck with the second but he had to be in the right place anyway, confident penalty for the third and a perfect ball in for Vardy to finish it off. 6. Leeds 0 - 1 Leicester - Nugent scores the only goal of the game (again) with a very clever and opportunistic striker's finish. Possibly my favourite goal of the season so far especially given the dominance by Leeds in the first half. 7. Leicester 2 - 0 Boro - Nugent battles for a lost cause and keeps the ball in for Vardy's goal. Missed a penalty but once again worked very hard. 8. Birmingham 1 - 2 Leicester - Yet another assist by Nugent for an opening goal, quality pass into Dyer. He also took up a horrifically inconvenient position for the second goal leaving Vardy with one average defender to beat (which he did very well). 9. Bournemouth 0 - 1 Leicester - Worked his socks off again and put Vardy in at least once. Didn't get a goal but arguably deserved one. Perhaps could have done better from Vardy's ball in early on but it was Nuge who set the chance up in the first place with a fantastic pass. Honourable mention for Ipswich 1 - 2 Leicester earlier in the season when he got 2 beautiful goals to turn the game around. And in the games where he gets no assists or goals he works absolutely tirelessly. He drops deep a lot more these days and gets other people involved in the game and doesn't mind tracking back. Anybody who says this guy should be dropped is clueless. People who moan about his "missed chances" don't even consider that he makes half-chances out of nothing sometimes. The chance at the end of the game today, for example; he was trying to chest it down with his back to goal and turn on the spot within a second and came very close to scoring. That wouldn't even be a half-chance for most strikers in the league. 11 unbeaten and he has been very important in that run.
