Larry_LCFC Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 To be fair to the bloke, he runs his socks off and has a great leap on him in the air.
dmayne7 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I could show you a goal from mark de vries which is 'world class'....but does that mean he is a world class player? No. Time and time again during a match he will give the ball away cheaply, run straight into an opponent, smash the ball harmlessly wide (at least 5-6 times a match). Yes he works fairly hard, but i just feel that we need more from him. For example, after watching watford today, Deeney despite not having his best game won a lot of second balls and recognised he was out of form and decided to just play second fiddle to forrestieri. I personally would much rather have a physical player up top instead of nuge. I could show you a howler from Cristiano Ronaldo which is 'embarrassing'... but does that mean he is the worst footballer in the world? No. 1 swallow doesn't make a summer.
Grewks Posted 8 February 2014 Author Posted 8 February 2014 Anybody who wouldn't take Ings over Nugent has lost it! or austin, rhodes or mccormack. And after today, despite his diving antics - forrestieri. Pace, trickery and even barged wasilewski off the ball a few times.
Stadt Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 "Nugent's cannot be a man with the ball at his feet."
ARTY_FOX Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 So we've had one draw and now people are again questioning Nugent again. I don't deny he misses some. If he took every chance he'd be playing for a good Prem club. What Nugent gives you is team-work. He's a great chaser down and links play well with the other striker. Im happy to have him here and to be honest always have been. Whats the phrase? You have to be be there to miss em? Nugent is a very intelligent player imo. This.
iamafox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 GTF - because i fail to see the point of him now Schlupp - young....but does he have the potential to become what we need? No in my opinion. Nuge - cash in whilst we can, there is a reason average clubs got rid as they also believed he was average. I disagree with that. He's scored goals at every club he's played for. Reason why Bury got rid was because he scored goals at a lower level and was ready to make the step up. Same with why Preston sold him to Pompey.
iamafox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Anybody who wouldn't take Ings over Nugent has lost it! I would only take Ings over someone like Waghorn or Schlupp.
oohaahmustafa Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 He proved it again today. The amount of times this season he has struck a ball which has gone out of play for a throw is incredible, and today he missed a glorious chance which knocky was in a better position to take. Not that the penalties don't count, but if you take them away, what has he done? a lucky deflection against derby, poor defending against leeds etc etc. He would only be on about 3 for the season. For me he wasted far too many chances. Surely a windup?
Bert Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 "Nugent's cannot be a man with the ball at his feet." You're not allowed to being things up from the past to support Nugent, sorry.
StanSP Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 or austin, rhodes or mccormack. And after today, despite his diving antics - forrestieri. Pace, trickery and even barged wasilewski off the ball a few times. lol No.
Stadt Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 You're not allowed to being things up from the past to support Nugent, sorry. I'm not even that keen in Nuge which goes to show how ridiculous the claim is.

sylofox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Vardy was far better than nuge against derby. It amazes me how stats block people's judgement. Does 'lack' mean zero? No. The fact he 'lacks' technical ability implies that he has some. It amazes me how you say fvck all when we are winning then come out with this shite. Either grow up or fvck off and support the trees. The club nor the player needs support like yours. This rates as bad as the plank that said the other day if we lose today Dyer should be dropped. So before we kicked off Dyer was at fault if we lost.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 The OP is either clueless or attention-seeking or some unpleasant combination thereof. Our 9 game winning streak, for example: 1. QPR 0 - 1 Leicester - Nugent assist for Vardy's goal. 2. Leicester 1 - 0 Reading - Nugent scores the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. 3. Leicester 5 - 3 Bolton - Missed a penalty (after nodding the ball down for Vardy in the first place) and didn't score but nobody can say he didn't work very hard during that game and he probably deserved a goal. 4. Milwall 1 - 3 Leicester - Nugent's run takes defender away for Knocky's goal and he scores the second goal after good anticipation. 5. Leicester 4 - 1 Derby - Nugent scored two and assisted the other two. Clever one-two with De Laet for the first, bit of luck with the second but he had to be in the right place anyway, confident penalty for the third and a perfect ball in for Vardy to finish it off. 6. Leeds 0 - 1 Leicester - Nugent scores the only goal of the game (again) with a very clever and opportunistic striker's finish. Possibly my favourite goal of the season so far especially given the dominance by Leeds in the first half. 7. Leicester 2 - 0 Boro - Nugent battles for a lost cause and keeps the ball in for Vardy's goal. Missed a penalty but once again worked very hard. 8. Birmingham 1 - 2 Leicester - Yet another assist by Nugent for an opening goal, quality pass into Dyer. He also took up a horrifically inconvenient position for the second goal leaving Vardy with one average defender to beat (which he did very well). 9. Bournemouth 0 - 1 Leicester - Worked his socks off again and put Vardy in at least once. Didn't get a goal but arguably deserved one. Perhaps could have done better from Vardy's ball in early on but it was Nuge who set the chance up in the first place with a fantastic pass. Honourable mention for Ipswich 1 - 2 Leicester earlier in the season when he got 2 beautiful goals to turn the game around. And in the games where he gets no assists or goals he works absolutely tirelessly. He drops deep a lot more these days and gets other people involved in the game and doesn't mind tracking back. Anybody who says this guy should be dropped is clueless. People who moan about his "missed chances" don't even consider that he makes half-chances out of nothing sometimes. The chance at the end of the game today, for example; he was trying to chest it down with his back to goal and turn on the spot within a second and came very close to scoring. That wouldn't even be a half-chance for most strikers in the league. 11 unbeaten and he has been very important in that run.
stb1996 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 lol No. I actually thought he was their best player, at least when he wasn't on the floor. He's good at running at the defence, but I agree that we don't want him as he plays a bit too deep, pushing us into a 4-4-1-1 rather than the 4-4-2 with nugent just behind rather than as an attacking midfielder
Sharpe's Fox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Nugent is different from our other strikers due to the fact he is the only one who can effectively play off the main striker. Can't see Wood or Vardy with the vision or technical ability to grab the assists, play in the through balls or help out the midfield when we don't have possession as they are both number 9's. GTF can do this but not for 90 minutes.
Fox92 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 It's not often I get really annoyed in life, but ffs this consistent slagging of Nugent is fvcking annoying and unwarranted (and that's swearing).

Father Ted Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 "Nugent's cannot be a man with the ball at his feet." This is what annoys me about Nugent! He looks totally a different player to that wondergoal. Almost as if he's not as quick or skillful anymore. We will never see him do that in a Leicester shirt, it seems almost as if he's not the final product as a striker, seeing as he was predominantly a winger in his earlier days.

He hasn't done anything like this in a city shirt. He is bang average.

Because he does look as if he has regressed somewhat.
Fox92 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I despair, I really do. The position we are in and people start picking fault with our top scorer. It could only happen here. For years, well since Dickov, we've wanted a player that can score at least 15 goals at this level and now we have one certain people constantly criticise him.
