SpoonFox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Since Liam Moore got injured I really don't feel confident in our defence. Although I think Wasilewski is a good squad player, I wouldn't say he'd be in my starting XI. For me, he lacks pace and tends to throw his arms around potentially getting himself booked or even sent off. Personally I'd be giving Miguel (if fit) a run out against Forest. Also on a side note, lloyd dyer hasn't been on fire since Birmingham IMO. Maybe he's being marked out of the game, frustrated at the contract situation or just in need of a rest. Maybe Mahrez to start against Forest too?
lcfcjw16 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wasyl elbows people on purpose like he did to kermogant against bournemouth, he likes to injure people and he said when he first signed that he'll really hurt someone against forest the first time, he went mad trying to break someones legs and got booked early so he couldnt. And he's scored loads of goals for poland and anderlecht for a reason nearly scored yes today. Ill give dyer another chance against forest
foxfanazer Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 On Dyer, I'd say teams seem to be doubling up on him to nullify his threat. Also our recent games have seen some harah weather conditions which has made it difficult for Lloyd to play his natural game.

Ill give dyer another chance against forest Given what happened to him in Belgium, I very much doubt he's trying to break some legs. He's a hard ****er who's a very good and experienced defender, his only problem is pace which given his age is hardly surprising. Of course he'll start against Forest.

westernpark Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wasilweski was solid yesterday, just lacks pace. Perhaps if he was a young, local lad he would be getting more praise.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Threads like this are amazing. Wasil is the sort of defender we've not had in years. He is not massively quick off the mark but he is scared of nobody and does not withdraw from challenges. He was winning headers yesterday against Watford that he had no right to even get to. He doesn't care if there's someone between the ball and him. And the "elbow" on Kermo was nothing of the sort. Hardly even touched him. He uses his arms a lot and often isn't the best at hiding it, but I don't mind having someone who intimidates opposition strikers. He's a proper footballer. There was one part especially in the Watford game where he showed his nous too. 2 on 2 at the back and instead of getting sucked in by the Watford runner he took up a position to anticipate the pass. We could have been in big trouble if it weren't for him using his experience there.
bluesbrothers Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Second that Was has been solid. The past 3 games before Watford have seen one goal conceded, and he was not at fault for either goal yesterday. Unlucky not to score himself, too.
Leicester Lass Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Throw Miguel in at Forest? Absolutely not. What about Miquel instead?
connorlcfc Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 i like was i think hes a good cover for defence but dyer well dont think he cares anymore but him and konchesky are awful together on the left side, fair enough dyer may be well marked but its never stopped him running at defenders but the past 4/5 games he has been terrible i would much rather have mahrez in instead hes a lot better than dyer technically and his vision is amazing. dyer seems to have given up since we offered him the new contract which he didnt accept. imo he wouldnt even be on the bench atm
Dickov22 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wasilewsk was at fault for yesterday's first goal- didn't track Deeney. Ball watching. Otherwise he had a solid game against two decent forwards.
DanTheFox07 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Didn't moore tweet yesterday that hopefully he will be playing again? Maybe he has to have a scan on his rib's to make sure he is alright first? we do need him back in the team but Don't wanna rush the lad!
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Was isn't one of our best two centre halves but he's more than adequate cover. He's done the job since he came in imo. Even if Dyer had done something wrong since the Birmingham game (which he hasn't) that was 2 games ago. Hardly a trend developing. I don't understand how we get so many critical/negative threads on here when we're so many points clear at the top of the table and the best side we've had in over a decade. Are people never happy?
C-man Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 'Dyer hasn't been on fire since Birmingham' what, two games? Played on one dodgy pitch and another against a team that defended so deep he had absolutely no chance to use his pace? Come off it, he has to start against Forest.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wasyl didn't play bad yesterday? Morgan certainly put is in more danger with his bad touches and missing the ball
Danno Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Don't like Wasyl at all, he's always out of position and i've seen buses turn quicker.
SpoonFox Posted 9 February 2014 Author Posted 9 February 2014 All I'm saying is that I can see weaknesses in our side at the mo. I'm loving being top of the league but refuse to get too excited until it's a done deal especially after how we imploded last season. As it stands, we're guaranteed nothing.
DennisNedry Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I'd still keep Dyer as a starter. However maybe bringing on Mahrez at around 65-70 minutes if Dyer hasn't been very effective.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Thought Wasyl played well yesterday, his distribution is fantastic.
Bettsj2 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Not sure how the first goal can be attributed to Was? Deeney was on RDL and Morgans side so not Was's job to track him and the movement for the header in fairness was excellent. It was just one of those goals. I do see peoples concerns about Was but lets be fair, you need time to forge partnerships so it's never going to look as solid as Moore and Wes.
AKCJ Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I thought Was was our best defender yesterday. Bullied Deeney in the air and his distribution was class. He might not be the quickest but he reads the game really well.
EnglishOxide Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Was is solid. Moore wasnt exactly in top form before his injury. As far as im concerned Was now stays in the team until he has a stinker or gets injured. If Moore comes in straight away when he is fit then Pearson risks unrest in the squad, considering that the 'cover' is doing the job required.
LCCFox96 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I thought both centre halfs were solid yesterday. Bar forrestierii being allowed to cruise through for the opener they didn't really make many mistakes. A combination of de laet being careless and James slow too close down cost us the second. Morgan and wasilewski dealt with everything else well enough imo. What wasyl lacks in pace he brings in experience, good tackling and being a hard bastard - just the ticket for a strong championship defence. This season whether it's Morgan/Moore or Morgan/Wasyl or even Miquel when fit Morgan has a partner able to help him stand up the more physical opponents. Deeney, Grabban, kermorgant (wasyl gave him a right battering) Pogrebnyak are players recently played who use their physicality but have been kept at bay by our centre backs. They are doing a good job this year tbh. I thought Was was our best defender yesterday. Bullied Deeney in the air and his distribution was class. He might not be the quickest but he reads the game really well. Agree with this 100%
