ealingfox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Plenty of teams parked the bus at the KP earlier in the season, and the result was the same every time. 2-1. Watford was a freak result because of that incredibly jammy first goal. If they didn't get that enormous slice of luck it would have been business as usual.
Itsthejoeker Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 If they hadn't scored they wouldn't have parked the bus.
Stadt Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Teams can park the bus all they like but eventually it becomes a matter if attrition. In most cases teams aren't as dangerous as Watford are whilst parking the bus, they sat so deep but still had Foristieri and Deeney up top do it was difficult than average, they made our mistakes cost us.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 God, there is some absolute rubbish on this thread! Back to the Nugent bashing! If I had any hair I'd be pulling it out, actually I might have a go at my pubes! Idiots wanting a to change a successful formation to one that has been proven not to work for us And how many damn teams have successfully "parked the bus" when playing us this season anyway?! Get a grip! Rant over, going to stick my head in the fridge now!
Sharpe's Fox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Put Mahrez on for a striker and get him, Lloyd and Knocky to all play on the left at once.
Kitchandro Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 It's not that we're not creating chances against Watford we had 18 attempts on goal but only 3 were on target as well as 10 corners so better more composed finishing would go a long way to turning potential draws and losses into wins. Attempts are not chances though. Look at the highlights, I think there was probably 2 clear cut ones in the whole match until the last 10 minutes. Nugent missed 2 sitters in the second half but I can't really think of any other proper chances. It is difficult, but what you don't want to do is make it easy for them to win the ball back. If you can keep the ball and the pressure, defender can be forced into mistakes. We have players who can come off the bench and make a difference in an attacking sense. Other than that we just have to keep doing what we do best. As Drinky showed though, there's nothing wrong with shooting from range now and again.

Well the 2 sitters are exactly the sort of chances to which i was referring.
Kent Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 As I understand it, other than a counter attack the most effective way is to spread the play quickly, switching it from one side to the other at pace to stretch the opposition defence and force them not to sit deep and compact. We seem to be pretty apt at scoring goals anyway so I don't see it as much of an issue?
steveherbe Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Howard up top, with Fryatt getting on the knock downs - or am I too late for this thread?
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 I want to know why the OP is worried about a non existent problem???
ozvaldo Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Would you start with this formation or is it a formation to change to in game if we cannot break teams down? I'd probably change to this if we are really struggling to break a team down.
