conLAD logan Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 the team i'd like to see if we reach the premier league: (4-3-3) Kasper de laet/trippier morgan moore cresswell drinkwater/james Cork cleverly/good cm from relegated team Knockaert/mahrez nugent/ings/mccormack vardy (jay rod role) (a few players like ings and mccormack could play on the wings just like vardy could play upfront) with this team i think we'd stay up and it'd cost from 10-15 million which i think is reasonable with the money we supposedly have. although i'm sure pearson will probably look abroad for a few signings instead of the championship like the french league and pick up another bargain
conLAD logan Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 oh and rickie lambert is a good shout to (they don't seem to pleased with him currently other on saintsweb)
volpeazzurro Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Too many signings can de-stabalise and fail to gel and I think we have the basis of a good pacy team that could just do with a few thoughtful additions. GK - If Caspar stays we need a good back-up LB - Konchesky may well just be found out but great back-up. Cresswell is the name many put forward but I don't pretend to know too much about him. Though pacy, just don't think Schlupp is a left back. CB - I believe Liam will rise to the challenge in the Championship alongside an experienced CB to his left. Although fairly solid in the Championship, I think Morgan will struggle in the Premiership (will perhaps get slated for even suggesting this). Against Man City, (and many teams now have pacy midfields and strikers), he looked cumbersome, slow and out of his depth. Good back-up. Whilst there is no chance he'd come here and although quite aged now, if John Terry was discarded by Chelsea he'd fit the bill nicely despite his off field persona. M - One nasty holding midfielder to compliment our excellent midfield on the few games we need one. S - Its goals that keep teams up and even in the Championship we seem to need 10 chances to put 1 away. There's no such luxury in the Premiership. Vardy will create havoc and be a pest still, Wood has an eye for goal and is worth a place on the bench as something different. Nugent perhaps a 1 year contract but can't personally see him making any impact and would be on the bench for me. We need a Yakubu or Philips box type player but doesn't everyone!
foxfanazer Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Seb Larsson or Chris Brunt would be decent
Stadt Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Seb Larsson or Chris Brunt would be decentIt'd be nice to have someone that can actually score free kicks.
foxfanazer Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 It'd be nice to have someone that can actually score free kicks.Knocky is decent to be fair. Besides we only get penalties
80footgiraffe Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 My signing recommendations in my forum were woeful so here's who I'd take: Ings Crouch Joel/ Al habsi (if kasper leaves) Ben foster if wb go down James Milner (big money mive) Possibly micah richards on loan
Stadt Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Knocky is decent to be fair. Besides we only get penalties Not consistent enough, he's only scored the one, I think? With somebody like Larsson you'd know there's a good chance it's going to be banged in the top corner.
Soar Fox Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Some of the names in here...!!! Apart from James Milner and possibly Micah Richards, what names have been mentioned that are unrealistic?

NewburyFox Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Rickie Lambert is unrealistic. It's not that unrealistic. Southampton will spend money on a striker again this summer, lambert is getting on and won't be a regular there and we will have money to spend.

Tielemans63 Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a couple of additions from Ligue 1. No idea who but it seems a market that Nige & co are interested in exploiting as it represents far better value than the English market.
foxfanazer Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Didn't he get one last season when we lost to Burton Albion?I can't remember to be honest mate
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 If Burnley don't go up then Ings is a must. That is providing we manage to go up...
purpleronnie Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 If Burnley don't go up then Ings is a must. That is providing we manage to go up... I'm sure they'll be pretty stiff competition for him if Burnley don't go up.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I'm sure they'll be pretty stiff competition for him if Burnley don't go up. Hope we would actually try to sign him though. You can just tell he is going to go on and be a really good Premiership striker. Can't see him staying if Burnley don't go up (I hope they do go up though)
KFS Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Cleverly (loan) I think he'd be open to a return. Cresswell Left winger Quality striker Experienced CB
Dan Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Would need a few signings but not too many. I'd hate us to go down the QPR/Palace route in pretty much signing a whole new squad.

I don't think it would come to that. Pearson's set up is different to other managers in that his young squad will look to make the step up, we'd just need to add to this squad, not overhaul it.
