Rincewind Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 There are jobs. You just have to scrap for them and hope the other candidates are worse than you. You can also do the jobs nobody else wants at a wage nobody wants and hours nobody wants and conditions nobody else wants. Perfect time for those jobs. Or you could get a job by word of mouth or recommendation. It's a dog eat dog world. Good luck to anyone searching..

Oh stop ****ing moaning.I'd love to earn 30k a year working 8-4 Monday to Friday, but I don't, I earn £19k working anytime from 8-8 and every other Saturday, you ain't gonna walk into a job that's fantastic money and fantastic hours. That's life, get over it you bitter old man !

I sent my CV off to 1 company for example yesterday and got them ringing me today wanting an interview. Normally slag off the Government but fair play to the Tories, I've not got a post grad job yet but its looking very promising.

Uncle Albert Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Lamby and work? Good job I wasn't on here last night, would of been another ban.

Not just put of work people either.
Jimothy Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Lamby and work? Good job I wasn't on here last night, would of been another ban. I'm surprised I've not been banned, I'm always giving him grief. It was one of my posts that got deleted, and it's not for the first either.
Strokes Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 I dont know why lamby gets such a hard time. He works for pig scraps in a very expensive city and claims a little to top up, yet seems to quite enjoy himself. Sure he is ignorant, charmless and lacking in a bit of intelligence but we all have our faults. I would let him buy me a pint.
separator Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 I will do anything mate. I left the army 2. Years ago and since then done factory work and a bit of sales. I'm not fussy what I do I just don't want to be out of work. There are a few employment agencies online that specialize in ex-forces recruitment. Though I don't know how better/worse they are than the others. Best of luck.
FoxLAD Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Try going with Maloy & Flynn recruitment agency. They've always been very good with finding me work when i lived in Leicester.

I wouldn't normally let him bother me but he came out with an ignorant, nasty post towards the OP after the guy had lost his job.Bang out of order.Although I told him in a few choice words one with an F and one with a C! lots tried to help him get a job including me last year and it took US to push him. When he got it I congratulated him and still gave him advice. Then twice he gave me shite,Im old enough to be his dad and I rarely get riled but he managed it.
Bayfox Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 I would let him buy me a pint. Tomorrows your chance

Rincewind Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 ffs - exactly the sort of attitude that we can do without Sorry it was never meant to come across that way. If you have loads of degrees and experience then obviously it will be easier. If you have youth on your side it will be easier. If you have health on your side it will be easier. That is a fact of life. I am not moaning or bitter about it. My working days have ended. It just depends on the kind of job you are willing to do. It is not an employees market ATM. The employers dictate the terms. Is it wrong to say that? Anyway I say again to the OP good luck. He is determined and motivated enough to impress any employer and will go far with that attitude.
ADK Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 I'm out of work as well. I think if you have experience then you should be able to find a job.
Wrighty22 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Sorry guys if there's already a thread on this. I lost m job today and was wondering if any of yo guys no any jobs available. Any help would be so much appreciated... Cheers I'd advise you to look at the larger companies in the area to see if they offer graduate positions. They provide on the job training and qualifications. I know recently Hansons were recruiting.
broughtonblue Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 If you are not fussy what you do then be pro active, print your cv off and post through all businesses on local industrial estates etc. they appreciate the fact that you have actually gone out of your way to look for work rather than just firing cv's off from your computer. Good luck!
MPH Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 As an aside, I know one guy who was impressed that someone actually took the time to personally drop in the resume instead of mail it in that he was the one he gave a job to. That personal touch is still appreciated

Rincewind Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Huh thats victimising lazy people, not cool. I emailed mine. didn't have to leave my armchair. ( If you apply online they ask you to send your CV at the same time.
The People's Hero Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Whether you believe you can get a job or you believe you can't, you're right.
