Chrissy Powell Sacked.

Just because he's black and a true gent doesn't mean it wasn't fair, they're in the relegation zone after all.

What the **** has his skin colour got to do with anything?

Amazed by what I'm reading here to be honest.

Done a dreadful job this season and from what I have seen of them against us and Sheff Utd they were a complete mess, no excuse for being below Yeovil on his wage bill and deserved to go.

Like Corky he doesnt surprise me as someone cut out for management.

Can't believe what I'm reading here to be honest either. He got Charlton up from League One when they were in an absolute state, completely overhauled the squad on a budget of next to nothing and took them from a midtable League One side, to Champions. He's brought through several young players who are now fixtures in the first team, and other players he has brought in for next to nothing have been sold on for profits by the club. He took them to 8th in the Championship last season and despite having games cancelled and a new board selling his best players from under him and no guarentee of new contracts for himself or his best players at the end of this season, he managed to take his team to an FA Cup quarter final this season.

He's done all this with practically zero support from the old and new boards, had his best players sold at a moment's notice and been forced to play Standard Liege rejects by this bizarre new owner. That's not even taking into account the facilities, which are so bad that the club has had to cancel several matches and now finds itself with four games in hand. I wouldn't even think that their wage bill is even that much higher than a club like Yeovil, such is the lack of budget he's had over the past few seasons. A few wins on the spin and they would have been midtable, easily.

I'm sure I read somewhere at the weekend that QPR were eyeing him up as a successor to 'Arry.

Bloody shocking, at least wait til the end of the season then see what position we're in then. Roland is just trigger happy tbh, what a c*nt.

He was given a contract which he signed and gave to Roland, then he got it back unsigned with "you're sacked" on it.

 Cool story.

I feel for him because it's clear that the new owner wants complete control - hence why CP is gone and some no-mark from Belgium is coming in to be a Yes man. Pisses me off that the FA just let these wankers buy clubs and then completely disrespect them and the fans - see Hull, Cardiff, Charlton, Blackburn etc etc

If we were in the relegation zone and he was our manager I wonder how many on here would be calling for his head?

This is the life of a football manager, I'm sure Chrissy P knew this was likely to happen sooner or later.

Fact or rumor ?

Let's see, he got them promoted from league 1 and then got a top half finish last season. Don't think he's done very well this year but he has had things go against him. Don't think it's quite the travesty people are making out but also think he will have a decent managerial career.

I guess this owner was probably waiting for an excuse to sack him.

I don't think Powell would have stuck around too long anyway - like Dyche with us I don't think he would have liked being told to have in the squad and who to play.

Just reckon this guy won't get the respect of the players and support of the fans...

At least Zola knew about English football..

Is that true!!?

Hasn't done well this season. Don't really get the uproar at the decision, sure he's a nice guy but it's not outrageous to sack a manger in his position.

Might not have done it myself but I'd be considering it very strongly.

Struggling to see how it wasn't deserved, shocking side, bottom of the League and the last little bit of hope the club had this season in the FA Cup they performed woefully against Sheffield United in the Clubs biggest game in years.

I knew as soon as I heard the news that Sky Sports News would be reporting that Hughton is now the only black manager managing in the top four divisions. Embarrassing really that Sky feel the need to report this.

Lets put the fact that we love him to one side

How is this a surprise? If anything its a surprise its taken so long. Theyre an awful team who are almost certainly going down, and frankly does the FA cup run even matter? they werent going to win it and it doesnt give league points. Its not a surprise decision.

It's not a surprise. People wanted Nige sacked last season after our dreadful run, even though we were still top 7. If we were bottom of the league, people would want the manager sacked.

They'll go down and they deserve it for being another club jumping on the foreign manager bandwagon.

I really do think there's more to it than him though Matt. Took Charlton up (with even more points in L1 than we got), got them up to 9th last year only a few points behind us - notice it's all gone wrong for him this season when his best players have been sold and replaced with youth players/Standard Liege reserves.

I'm not saying he's done a great job this season by any means but I think the problem is their owners. No co-incidence at all that it's all gone pear shaped now that they've shown up.

That man is an absolute joke. Get over yourself and your pathetic loser theories you moron.
