Jimothy Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I can finally stop liking Charlton, Just what I was thinking
LanguedocFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Absolutely stupid decision by owners who know fvck all about the history and heritage of the club, or about the attitude of their fans. They were looking likely candidates for relegation before - they are absolutely certainties for it now. And I doubt they will get promoted next year. Bring him back here where he will be respected, trusted and given all the support he needs. Only one Chrissy Powell.

billyn88 Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I think Nige is now the longest serving Championship manager as a result...
StanSP Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 So much for the contract negotiations Lamby was harping on about .
goose2010 Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 There is now only 8 managers in the Football League who have been in a job for 3 years or more. That's absolutely crazy! Why change a manager this late in the season? crazy stuff.
MPH Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I saw rumblings that this was going to happen on twitter. Someone said that staying in the FA Cup was the only thing keeping him in a job and that his replacement had already been selected...
65RosesFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Amazing how things can change in 4 weeks, from a thread created of us praising him, then to being harshly sacked this morning. They've had a cup run, minus QF which I'm sure they'll want to forget. Yes they are bottom of the league but they are only 4 points off safety with 3 games in hand over Barnsley and Yeovil and 4 over the rest. I wish him well and hopes he finds another club, hopefully in Championship soon. And now they've got rid of him and he's being replaced with another Foreign Manager with no English Football Experience I hope Charlton get relegated! Good luck Chris Powell!
johnny the fox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Damn shame..but you can't build a team with both hands tied behind your back..
Corky Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 And to think some wanted him here to replace NP last season.... I wish him well, got a lot of time for him but not sure how far he can go in management.
Jace Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Unbelievable Jeff, bring him back here I say top bloke
bluesbrothers Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I wholeheartedly agree in now wanting them to crash and burn. Awful, awful time to sack him, and replace him with yet another foreign manager. I'll eat my desk and the hat on it if he galvanises the squad to safety now. Hope he gets another job soon.
FrankieADZ Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 One teams loss is going to be another's gain here I think.
MrSpaM Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 What exactly are they hoping sacking their manager at this point of the season is going to achieve?!? They've basically just signed their relegation
bobbysmith Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Without provoking a race debate, it is hard to believe there are only two working black managers across the english leagues. Good luck to guy, still early days in his management career really.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Not fair on Chrissy P if this is true IMO Class man, class act, true gent Just because he's black and a true gent doesn't mean it wasn't fair, they're in the relegation zone after all.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Amazed by what I'm reading here to be honest. Done a dreadful job this season and from what I have seen of them against us and Sheff Utd they were a complete mess, no excuse for being below Yeovil on his wage bill and deserved to go. Like Corky he doesnt surprise me as someone cut out for management.
Daggers Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Shame for the bloke, he desserves much better from a club and a chairman. Anyone with sense ought to snap him up, there's no one in the game as popular as Powell. Huge respect for the man and as a professional.

Vicki Vixen Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Sad story. It says a lot about the man when the team are in the drop zone and the vast majority of fans are still backing him. Charlton have a good crop of young English players who probably won't get the same opportunities to progress under a foreign manager. Other than Brighton and Man City, the only team to beat us this season and fully deserve it.
foxfanazer Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Other than Brighton and Man City, the only team to beat us this season and fully deserve it.sheff wed, Doncaster and forest and one more (can't remember)
Vicki Vixen Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 sheff wed, Doncaster and forest and one more (can't remember) I think we deserved to at least draw those games. Just my opinion though.
kingfox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Seems Charlton are going to be the new Watford. Standard Liege Reserves they will be known as sooner or later. Didn't realise they were bottom until yesterday, games in hand though, and they only beat QPR a couple weeks back. TBH though, it's not really surprising, I thought he was going to go weeks ago. Nice guy, decent manager, I'm sure he will be back in management in no time.
