Leaving before the final whistle?

The ones I can't understand are those that park in the club car park who leave early, every game as you come out the kop there are loads of people already in their cars queuing but are not allowed out by the stewards till the roads are clear, bizarre!

We sometimes leave a few minutes early and that's because my mates mum usually drives (no we're not 15) and she likes to beat the traffic on certain days for whatever reason.

But we don't leave if there's been 12 corners in the last minute and everyone's on their feet waiting for a last minute goal or anything like that, and I doubt many other people would either?

It's obvious a lot of people feel strongly about this but I really don't think it's as big of a deal as what everyone seems to be making out.

I left a few minutes early at the Leeds game, to miss the traffic so I could get to my teams County Cup Quater Final (in Leeds). Ended up missing Nuge's goal, and my place in the starting 11... what a t**t I felt. How could I have missed a last minute winner, against Leeds at Elland Rd, being from Leeds and every one of my mates being Leeds fans, in a game where we probably deserved to draw at best.

Some people show up 5 mins late so you have to get out of their way so they can find their seat. Theyre usually obese or thick.

Then those who go downstairs at half time early to beat a queue to get a pint of watered down crap lager while watching a TV screen (when paying for a ****ing ticket to watch it for real not Jeff Stelling)

Then youre shifted again after half time by twats oblivious that half time has always lasted 15 mins.

And then people leave before the end, without care for missing a part of the game where a large proportion of goals are scored.

I bet life is wonderful in your utopia land. Jesus mate get a life. let people do what they want for gawds sake. Believe this or not it aint all about the football. Some people go to enjoy the crack, meet up with mates and have a few drinks even if it be at half time for a few watered down crap lager!

Sorry but 'everyone has their reasons for leaving early' ? Like what?

Like having young children that do not like the crush when leaving, so leaving a minute or so earl makes a huge difference to them.

Your stupid if you leave before the final whistle. I have been to hundreds of football matches and never ever left before the final whistle and never will. Football is so unpredictable, what if Man City fans left 5 minutes early against QPR that season etc. I can't tell you how many goals or late drama I would have missed if I left early.

I dont think man people would leave early in that situation, but if you are 3-0 up against a piss poor Ipswich, it is much different!

Thats where we differ, it is all about the 90mins, everything else is a by product. Do you not think its selfish making everyone move just so you can have a beer?

It irritates me when people are up and down all match. People should be able to sit still for two 45 minute halves. However, I don't mind if people want to go a few minutes before the final whistle. Waiting until the final whistle would probably add an extra 30 minutes onto my trip home by the time you have fought through the crowds walking away and then got through the much heavier traffic. Don't understand this thread in the slightest, and the people who want to berate others without knowing their circumstances are just cvnts in my eyes.

I'm not sure why you'd be sad enough to care, to be honest. People pay their money and do what they like. I don't leave early but I don't care that others do. I'm sure they have their reasons. I'm there to watch the game, not the people who attend.

Precisely. Why does it bother others, because other than having to stand up for 5 seconds it has nothing to do with anyone else what so ever.

I'm sure nobody just thinks, I only fancy watching 87mins today. There will obviously be a reason for them leaving early. To call someone 'stupid' because they might have something else going on in their life on a Saturday, god forbid. Not everyone lives round the corner, some travel 100s of miles for home games.

I just don't get that. There's no crush ever when getting out of the ground. I have gone regularly with young children for years, all areas of ground, there is zero 'crush' which would affect a child leaving the ground. We are usually in K block, other fans are helpful and considerate in not crowding my child, chatting to him, asking him for his score prediction, allowing him in front of them on the steps etc. Really don't understand! LCFC fans are generally very nice and don't tend to scare children!

Having said that, my child actually likes football, doesn't go to the toilet in the middle of the game, doesn't take electronics to 'entertain' him (the football is the entertainment) doesn't kick people's chairs, get up and down etc etc. So maybe people are nicer to him on the way out? ;)

What pisses me off is some go to leave, but then decide to stand up against the railing bit & block myself and others view, if your going just fook off.

Do it myself sometimes; everyone has there reasons for leaving early, personally i dont mind if they do or not, can think of more annoying things about LCFC "fans" and all that....kinda like the ones suddenly appearing now we are doing well being 1.

Agree with this.

Lots of people living different lives with different things to do all of the time, outside of football we probably don't have an awful lot in common but we all share one single value which is to see our football club doing as well as it possibly can do.

I am fortunate enough to be a Priority One Season Ticket Holder and get to almost all of the away games but because others can't should I view them as lesser supporters or not as committed - of course not it is all down to everyone's circumstances.

However I do agree with Frankies point regarding the overall interest in our football club. The stadium appears to be getting fuller for home games and tickets for away games are getting snapped up quicker than at the beginning of the season. That, I suppose,  will be down to a shift in an individuals priorities if they foresee a good day out beckoning because of the form we have been producing. Rest assured if today's result isn't the expected one then those with the very highest expectations will be the most vocal.

Live and let live I say.

It's not for me but if you want to then it doesn't bother me. Some people are getting very angry.

That said, the cinema analogy is a bit rubbish. If cinema' shelf 20000+ people who were all going to leave at the same time I'm pretty sure more people would leave early

The last 4 years I sat half way up in SK2,used to leave early occasionally even when we we're winning.Fans sat in silence did my head in,spoilt even good wins like the 6 - 0 last season, might of left a couple of mins early for that.I follow City for me,if I'm in a shit mood for whatever reason I'm off.

Nah you are wrong it can effect a lot of people on the row, then those behind when they all stand up. They then congregate on the stairs blocking folks view, its selfish and a piss take... You can't care that much if you leave your seat at anytime during the game.

Congratulations on being the biggest bestest fan ever.

people pay the money, THEY CAN LEAVE WHEN THEY WANT TO!!!!! DOESNT EFFECT YOU IN ANY WAY

I reckon this seasons gonna stand me about 3k,that's without beer.

Wow thats clever. Not at all, just conscious of those around me being able to enjoy the game.

In my opinion, if people leave before the full time whistle and leave before a vital goal then quite frankly they deserve to miss out on that big moment.

Nothing to begrudge them, they have a free choice to leave before the game. Have sympathy for people who have to catch a train/have other commitments, etc. but I have none for people who walk out if we are 2-0 with 10 mins to play...

Was on a lads weekend to Manchester years ago and went to Man City v Fulham. Fulham went 3-1 after 65 minutes and about 50% of the Man City 'fans' around me left before they had even kicked off again! Always vowed I would never do the same.
