C-man Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 First of all, I just want to say how unbelievably happy I am with today's, and this season's(!) events and I am sorry to bring this up now but wanted to before I forgot.... Was it just me or did it seem to everyone else that more people than usual left before FT last night? It was just utterly bewildering to me in light of today's potential, and as it turned out eventual scenarios that people wouldn't want to clap off a team that had all but secured promotion. Fair play to those who stayed to savour every moment and give Mahrez and then Knocky the cheers they deserved.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 This. it hardly affects anyone else. I sit on the aisle row in B3 so there is only one way out of the row, the regulars all seem to stay till the end for the players And this isn't a stab at "plastic fans" but…. it is ALWAYS the one game harrys thats float over from the Tigers who get up and down to get a drink half way through each half, at the end of the first half and 5 mins before the end of the game. And i feel quite within my rights to say to them "FOR FCUK SAKE!" It does affect everyone else!
Livid Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I don't really give a damn if people leave early or not. If we're two or more goals down and playing particularly poorly with 5 or 10 minutes to go then yes I will usually leave. If there is a chance of a turnaround i'll stay I've not yet had a time where we have come back to get anything. What I did realise is that our fan base has changed. Maybe it's the fact that the teens/twenty something support we have coming through are a Premier League Sky Sports generation. They seem to be the ones in meltdown about plastic fans and pitch invasions. It just seems to be who is the most loyalist of all. I have an immediate bond with anyone who supports the city, if you go every week or once a decade I don't care. I've never heard the loyal supporter's chant used to castigate our own until Tuesday night and I'm not sure I like what that says about 'us'.

Bayfox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Ain't we discussed this topic before? I personally on a 3pm day, i have to leave around 16:46 as my train back to Nunny leaves at 17:16 and takes around half an hour to walk to the station. That's the main reason why i leave early transport, plus sometimes mainly away games it takes forever to leave! QPR this season wasn't the longest I've ever waited to leave a ground, it took nearly 15 minutes after the final whistle to get out of the ground! On the final day of the season don't worry i'll be there to clap them off the pitch and watch them lift the cup! Mate you need to get some exercise. It takes 20mins tops to get station. Our train goes at 17.23 and we make that when we choose too.
TheRutlandfox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I would never leave early for anything other than transport issues or another engagement but can understand if that is the case Sometimes I take my youngest who copes badly with crowds and will only go if we take the train which on a Saturday which means leaving at just gone quarter to five to get to the station for quarter past, and leaving before full time. I hate walking out before the final whistle, normally such as the Brighton game, me and the eldest are the among the last standing in SK3 on row JJ. It is either leave early with him or he doesn't come. fortunately he doesn't want to come over that often unlike his much older sibling I remember the FA cup game in 2000 against the Arsenal at Filbo, when many left at 0-0 before full time god knows why We went on and took the game into extra time and won on pens!! with Peggy replacing Tim Flowers in goal Sublime If it is because you cant face watching a loss or draw, then I am not sympathetic. The players still deserve some respect at the end whatever the result They are all our team squad
Istilllovefilbert Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 "You" pay your money, "you" make your choice! If people wanna leave at half time, **** em, that's up to them. Why people get so upset? Does it really matter?
john ridley Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 l left early on Tuesday because they were playing shit , pure and simple .I don't have to justify myself to anyone either ,especially when we were getting 6/700 under pleat and I stayed to watch that , this bollocks about "plastic"fans was never around then ,as the above posters have said whether you go every week or once a season it still counts that you ARE a city fan .
Unabomber Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I never leave early as if I did I would have to wait for my lift home.
Stevie Synex Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I left early on Tuesday because it was game over ..... But I will be at Reading, Bolton & Huddersfield. Does that make me plastic?

Bluecityfox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Back in the pleat days we loved it when the gates got up to 14000/15000 mark.what has changed our opinion? I'd love 30000 every week but be amazed if they stick with us for the whole season.

FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Not full on plastic no. Maybe bakelite...
Bert Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 Makes me chuckle when people go to beat the traffic. Just find it a bit strange! Fair enough if you have to catch the last bus or train available but I would never leave a game early to get him 15 minutes earlier or just because we're not winning.
PAULCFC Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 I left early on Tuesday night....just after GTF scored. But i've been sat at the end of the row in SK2 for the past 10 seasons,so didn't upset anyone!

Bluetintedspecs Posted 12 April 2014 Posted 12 April 2014 It's not the idea that it effects others. It's just WHY?? You pay a lot of money, as has been said, you wouldn't leave a movie, 5-10 mins early. I'll give you a reason, on a Tuesday night match during term times my son , who travels from Sheffield Uni for every home match HAS to leave early to ensure he gets his train back. Neither of us would chose to leave early, but where are seats are at back of SK3, if you don't it bottlenecks and you're stuck for a good 10/15 mins. So it's not just about a bit of traffic, there are genuine reasons too. Those circumstances aside we applaud the ladsoff every game! Tarring everyone with the same brush is short sighted and sanctimonious imo.
CORNFOX68 Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 I left after brighton scored there fourth goal, i have the choice get to car before final whistle and get home anything up to an hour earlier, as it was i got back home [st ives cornwall] at 3.10 in the morning.i would like to add i normally park outside the road shutting zone and leave on final whistle, i hope i am forgiven just this once. i think people who take there seats 10 mins after ko and then leave 10 mins before half time, then repeat in second half are far more annoying.
Gforce19 Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 The only time I have ever left early in 30 odd years of following city was at Ipswich away we had already conceded 4 goals and I left with 20 mins to go thinking I would get the hell put of Ipswich ASAP , as I left the stadium I heard 2 cheers , thinking we had scored twice I ran to my car to switch the radio on to find we had conceded 2 more!!!!!! Still can't quite understand how quiet the Ipswich goal celebration was to make me think it was us that has scored. Any way back to Tuesday I think if the players hadn't played like they were still pissed from celebrating promotion more would have stayed. Hard earned money paid to watch a half hearted hungover team that were clearly not with it mentally and physically made some people feel let down and if they walked out that is their choice. I stayed until the end because I wanted to applaud the team for the season in general but I felt very let down by the team with how we performed and felt like they hadn't respected Brighton enough or respected the fact that for normal people paying to watch the team the least we expect is the team to give it a go which on Tuesday we did not do .
theessexfox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 A lot of people needed to beat the traffic after Brighton scored their fourth - why not applaud the players who've secured us promotion, in spite of one poor performance?
