AlphaMaleFox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 One thing's for sure: their drummer is more skillful than our Jobber.
Dan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Wigan's fans really surprised me. I thought they were as good a home support as I've seen this season. We were OK. About a 6 out of 10.

ScouseFox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Obviously nothing on Saturday but still enough of a group around where I was (once id moved because everyone by my allocated ticket sat down!!) singing a decent range of songs through most the 90. I know all the die hard heroes say the game shouldn't affect the atmosphere but it does, like it or not, and we were outplayed last night and frustrating to watch, which never helps an atmosphere. After our second until going home we were good, as you'd expect.
MC Prussian Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 It didn't sound too bad on the radio, but who'd expect us to turn up for three successive away games in the Northwest and the Wigan one on a Tuesday with 3'000+ fans each? Eats away a lot of cash - not everyone can afford that. Wigan on a Tuesday is just not that attractive. And unlike last Saturday, the game was much more open and we on the verge of a defeat. No wonder people tend to go quiet. With Burnley, the club had added some incentives to travel and more people were able to attend on a Saturday, anyway.
Soup Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I suppose you would have had to have been there! What struck me last night was how few people sing When You're Smiling??? Tried to start it last night and there couldn't have been more than 20 people singing it, then someone started the Melbourne chant and 100's of people joined it. WYS should be belted out with so much passion, do that many people seriously not know the words to it?? Totally agree about WYS,love this song so much.I think there's a few reasons why it's never really got going. These are just my opinions but-1-Still do it too fast. 2-We don't sing it,we chant it and that doesn't do this song justice.Think about Liverpool singing You'll never walk alone,it's got melody and makes people wanna join in. A tiny tweek here and there and it simply could be stunning. Shoot me down but that's just what I feel.
Voll Blau Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 YOU......... TWATS Woke up with that in my head this morning. I suppose you would have had to have been there! Tried to start it last night and there couldn't have been more than 20 people singing it, then someone started the Melbourne chant and 100's of people joined it. Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Atmosphere felt crap again last night, certainly felt it from near the pitch anyway. Maybe the sound just didn't travel down very well. I thought the party would carry on from Burnley (possibly the best atmosphere I've ever been involved in). Not moaning, just an observation.
Monsell1976 Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 YOU......... TWATS that was funny, that ooh ahh chant has to be the campest chant in the country
Unabomber Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 that was funny, that ooh ahh chant has to be the campest chant in the country I could hear that all night on the radio, I was wondering wtf they were doing.
lestajigs Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Hope the atmosphere is mental on Friday and tuesday
dogadug Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 On twitter virtually every Wigan fan is complementing our team and the atmosphere in our end last night, even though we've been better. Makes a nice change.
Banks Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Not even joking about, but I've been in home ends before where I've had to sit with opposing fans as Leicester fans have sold out the allocation and I haven't been able to get a ticket, and when we are vocal, we are very very loud. Burnley was brilliant on Saturday, and at times last night we were incredibly noisy towards the end of the match.
dogadug Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Agreed, I thought the atmosphere was good, but obviously not going to hit the heights of saturday
ramadaone Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 YOU......... TWATS Our remix version was so much better than their original ... Fair play to them though they were as loud as any home fans I have heard this season
Carl the Llama Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Anybody going to explain this twats thing or are we making this an at the game love-in sort of thing?
Unabomber Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Anybody going to explain this twats thing or are we making this an at the game love-in sort of thing?I think it's because Wigan fans go "OO AHH" and I assume Leicester fans said you twats instead. I wasn't there though so just an assumption.

lcfcliam Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 For any of those asking about the you twats chant this is what we we're singing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WxTWBE9u6A&feature=youtu.be
Monsell1976 Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Great effort from the fans tonight, good atmosphere, the lcfc song went on for a while, so did the put your big pole in, and stand up for your champions was good. Good noise all night, and constant singing for the best part of the match, even when things weren't going our own way. Good time to be a city fan, and proud of the atmosphere tonight, well done all.
Kitchandro Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Thought it was poor. It certainly wasn't 'on the brink of promotion' stuff on my side of the ground.
dogadug Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Why do people continue with the phone lights? Save it for a concert, not a football match
AlphaMaleFox Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Ring of Fire in L1/K1 was mint, 1-1 and continuous chanting under Wednesdays pressure
Grewks Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Great effort from the fans tonight, good atmosphere, the lcfc song went on for a while, so did the put your big pole in, and stand up for your champions was good. Good noise all night, and constant singing for the best part of the match, even when things weren't going our own way. Good time to be a city fan, and proud of the atmosphere tonight, well done all. It was poor. The problem is, yes it was a 'good atmosphere' compared to normal, and it was a 'great effort' compared to normal, but again it is just so so poor. Are the acoustics really the problem? I remember going to the play-offs at cardiff, a newer stadium than ours with a similar design and presumably similar acoustics, and the volume was far greater than all our home games at the KP put together. The visual aspect was also different, you could see all around the ground fans with their arms aloft, just like the away fans at our place after scoring a goal. Whereas at our ground, apart from L1 nowhere else seems interested at all. No chanting, and especially no standing even for a single chant. For me the problem isn't acoustics, it is simply the demographic which attend our games. As i can only attend week games (work on saturdays) no matter where i sit (L1 excluded) the average age of the supporter is over 30. Many of which are with a single friend, a partner, or young child/children under 16. To attract a more vocal crowd, it must be more appealing for the 'student' age group to attend, and at the minute, it isn't.
