Stewards & the police are the kind of people that ruin football. We've been waiting ten years. Ten years! And they call in the riot squad to stop our celebrations after all we've been thru. I was there at stoke 2008. This club is a facking joke. No other team wud do that to our own fans. Its a disgrace. Kevin Barclay & co shud b ashamed of themselves

People on here do talk a lot of crap.

Pitch invasions happen. Mostly they are spur of the moment affairs like Watford vs us last year. The idea of planning one in advance though is the most ridiculous thing I've heard - let's take what is an outpouring of emotion in a stressful moment and instead treat it like some planned thing. Get a grip. You can't plan pitch invasions.

I'd quite like to take my young daughter to the last game to see us life the trophy and have the lap of honour (I saw the last lap of honour upon promotion to the Prem with no pitch invasion). If a thousand idiots I have no interest in watching prancing about stupidly wreck my daughter's chance to see those magic monents I'll me much less than impressed.

If you're so childish and devoid of intelligence that running about like a prat is your best method of enjoyment then go into town and act like a prat there.

It was an absolute disgrace.

Let's have some perspective here: people wanted to walk down some steps, step over an advertising hoarding and walk on some grass.

Does that really warrant 60 police lining two sides of the stadium in riot gear and on overtime?!

How about the club spends that money on free travel to Huddersfield for the fans or a free pint for everyone versus Doncaster as a thank you for all the support they've had from us over the years?!

Who cares what you think of a pitch invasion whether it's tinpot, co-ordinated or embarassing. The way the club approached tonight was disgraceful.

The way the police were stroking their big black batons as if they were their cocks was seriously embarrassing, and it was the one thing tonight that made me seriously angry.

What disappointed me the most was the stewards who gave everything they had to stop people getting on at the bottom of L1. Admittedly my view wasn't great but looked more dangerous forcing people into an enclosed area than letting them spill out into a line of police.

Never seen so many police though. More than at game vs Forest.

I was getting crushed by them and serious injuries could have happened. I hope they're really happy with themselves tonight the absolute jobsworths. Oh and special mention to LCFC: READING, HULL, CARDIFF, to name a few all celebrated with pitch invasions and they were monumentous moments for their clubs, not a single copper in site, us, how do we celebrate, yeah, let's get 100 coppers to round the pitch. What a waste of council tax and LCFC to blame just as much.

i second that. Im hoping to take my 7 and 3 year old to the celebrations v doncaster. I dont fancy people charging down stairways and rows of seats when my young ones are with me

Its a good job.

On the pitch after losing 4-1?

****ing tinpot.

I'll celebrate the end to the last 10 years however I want thankyou very much.

Can we end this 'tinpot' shite? It's honestly just a word that describes "anything I don't like". **** off.

Just a tad over the top. Tried to speak to a policeman about it and he threatened to arrest me for calling him a "copper" . Unbelievable!

Wow... you really don't get it do you?!

Stopping it is not about a lap of honour or presenting the tropy or not. Stopping the pitch invasion is about setting up the Sky Bet podium, with the Sky Bet ribboned trophy, with the Sky Bet champagne and the Sky Bet 'We are Champions flag' whilst the Sky Bet directors watch from the Sky Bet box they have for the day. It's all corporate bullcrap and the thought of it being ruined terrifies the league who have taken the sponsorship money. If the league gets terrified, the club gets terrified.

When Aguerro scored against QPR there was a pitch invasion. I think there might have been two even. Did Barclays get the huff and cancel the presentation?! Did they fvck!

Everyone cleared off and the podium was set up for Kompany and co to lift the Barclays Premier League.

Were there one versus Doncaster this is all that would happen. Even if everyone refused to leave the pitch they'd still do it from the director's box so everyone's a winner eventually.

A pitch invasion isn't going to rob your daughter of her precious little moment.

Whilst I agree with parts of your comment as pitch invasions occur as a spur of the moment situation you have gone way over the top with your reply.

You are basically implying that everyone that wishes to go into the pitch to celebrate with the players may aswell be a 'thing' that goes beating up who they choose in town at 4am on a Friday night. Get off ya high horse and get a grip yourself on reality and what was once a great working class mans game that is declining big time

Am I right in thinking the club get fined if there's a pitch invasion?

I bet the fine would be less than the policing costs.

Some of the rubbish I'm hearing in here...

'It would ruin the pitch for when we play QPR..'

'It's illegal'

I must admit the police parading out did annoy me a little. But the cringe worthy shit be posted on here tonight is twice as bad. It's not a divine right to have a pitch invasion, and after a 4-1 defeat? Starting to think fans came out of the woodwork to "walk down some steps, step over an advertisement hoarding and walk on some grass", which I must say sounds incredibly pathetic.

Or they would be forced to close a section of the ground the next game?

I do hate police. They wonder why half the population don't like or trust them and people no longer "have respect for the force". It's because they buzz for situations like tonight where they might get the opportunity to get the batons out and make a few rough and ready arrests just incase any football fans decide to "get naughty and act like hooligans". So pathetic the lot of them.

the club cant allow illegal activity you utter moron, got a lot of growing up to do kid. probably in your stone island jacket with nothing else to live for

And it's their fault you got crushed? Really mate? You saw the line of stewards and the line of equipped police and thought you were going to stroll on to the pitch? No-one forced you to try and get on, you knew from the announcements and the double line of people that they didn't want you nor would they let you, yet it's their fault you were in a crush of idiots?

Really cannot believe we're promoted and everyone is squabbling about running onto the pitch. Honestly. If we'd got the point we needed tonight go for it, I'd have been disappointed if the club tried to stop everyone. But pre-planned, three days after going up and losing 4-1, it's the kind of thing everyone on here would be calling teams out for. Imagine the stick we'd be giving Forest if they'd gone onto the pitch after a 4-1 loss to celebrate the promotion they knew they'd secured on Saturday. You wouldn't be able to move for it.

I do wonder what you would all have done having got on. It's obvious the players or staff weren't going to come out and salute you, run onto the pitch and.... well then what, few high fives for being on there, then walk around thinking 'well this isn't as good as I thought it would be,' which wouldn't be a surprise considering we secured promotion three days ago and there's absolutely no spontaneity whatsoever. Run on when we've secured the title, that's more understandable than going on just because you have a vague excuse to try to.

You really think the club are going to let a few thousand fans trample over a pitch that is worth in excess of six figures and costs a tidy sum to maintain? They didn't let the universities play varsity on it this year because they wanted to keep it good so 2000 pairs of trainers weren't exactly going to be welcome.

Spoke to a copper mate this fixture and remaining home games are rated as A class fixtures which is the highest level for disorder ie high risk of a pitch invasion which is a offence hence them being in the ground at the end but the amount of officers on duty was normal

Posted

My problem with it was the sheer numbers of police. They didn't turn up because we were losing 4-1. They would have been there regardless of the score. It's not even about wanting to invade the pitch or not - I wasn't particularly in the mood after the way the game went and seeing 25,000 of our fans sitting in silence all game - it's the massive line of coppers that the club have forked out for. Just looked pathetic and unnecessary to me. If it's anything to do with protecting the surface then fine. If they're there for Doncaster as well, then jesus christ.

People crying over the fact that they couldn't get on a pitch crying out loud get a grip. Maybe there police presence was a bit ott but given the fact we got battered COULD have meant a player getting whacked or whatever. If the people getting on the pitch means we dont get a presentation or a lap of honour then you only have yourselves to blame I for one will be in the stands cheering the lads on and hopefully seeing the trophy at the end of the season
