Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The real question is, are the police here for every home game from now on? QPR and Donny without a doubt, massive police presence. I literally cannot wait for the QPR game, gonna be amazing, even though they will be resigned to the p offs by then.
Dan Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Agree they have done all they can to steralize it, BUT I think its obvious they wont be able to stop it at a sell out against doncaster with 32,500 fans bombing on... Just could not believe how many people were ringing in, tweeting, Facebooking, and on here screaming and shouting at the club, after a 4-1 loss on a tuesday night against brighton when we won promotion 4 days previous... + I had to give my ticket away as I couldnt get to the match in time in the end! IT WILL HAPPEN AT DONNY. Until then our fans need to give it a rest Not sure if anyone saw the pitch the day after stoke got promoted? Fans had absolutely ruined the surface... Idiots were digging up pieces of bloody turf to take home.... No way would Leicester let that happen with home games to go.... Oh come on. The police presence was what I'd expect of River v Boca. It was absolutely ridiculous. Who is going to start an invasion when you're absolute nailed on for an arrest/ban? There won't be one against Doncaster because as usual they will try and dictate it all, preventing fans actually getting on and being amongst it. They will take the same measures as last night. I agree that the manner of the game and the awful result made a pitch invasion far less likely, but that changes nothing. The same crap would've happened if we'd won 5-0. I've been called paranoid, laughed at for claiming the club are against atmosphere/spontaneousness (is that even a word?) but I can safely say with any common sense that last nights events will see the end of that. Something has got to change at this club because it's a joke.
CosbehFox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I personally found it bordering on disrespectful. It was full on riot police - are we collectively as fans animals?
Babylon Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 There is a game on the pitch tonight, so I can understand the club not wanting people on it. But a line of stewards could have dealt with that last night and not half of Leicester's police force. I personally found it bordering on disrespectful. It was full on riot police - are we collectively as fans animals? I had no intention of going on the pitch, but the sight of that lot coming out made me want to out of sheer disobedience.
AndWhat? Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 When L/K were trying to push past the stewards the police didn't look like they cared. It is so obvious that the club requested them to be there. Just ****s me off that our club would have had to pay for those riot police to stand there looking bored, just to intimidate us into not trying to get onto the pitch. Bully boy tactics again from Barclay. What a complete waste of money to try and stop a load of people running around on a bit of grass!
hackneyfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The club & plod do read these sites. We learnt that on Bentleys years ago so never name pubs nowadays. Plod turned up at a pre game drink at Charlton years ago expecting a bunch of thugs and found a bunch of old blokes having a beer and a chat. If you start organising a pitch invasion on here I'm really not sure what else you expect to happen.
MC Prussian Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Disgraceful, of I end up with hundreds of coppers again dictating what I do at my home ground which they never ****ing turn up too most of this year then I'm rioting! Haha ***** **** off club aswell they really do hate us, it's like making Austen Clark coach fans pay to park at the KP because they're not using fox ravel, they don't give 2 shits about fans, money money money arse holes Apart from the fact that you don't own the ground. The club does. And so you adhere to their politics when buying a matchday ticket. A pitch invasion on the last day of the season should be permitted, though.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The heavy police presence was a disgrace, completely out of proportion to what might've happened. There is a game on the pitch tonight, so I can understand the club not wanting people on it. But a line of stewards could have dealt with that last night and not half of Leicester's police force. I had no intention of going on the pitch, but the sight of that lot coming out made me want to out of sheer disobedience. Spot on.

If you start organising a pitch invasion on here I'm really not sure what else you expect to happen. Do you think the police really care about pitch invasions? I would bet money that if the club hadn't have requested them, there would have been a very small police presence at the game.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I personally found it bordering on disrespectful. It was full on riot police - are we collectively as fans animals? Dunno what to think about this, remember when the fences went up at Filbert St? , I used to stand in the members area, all nice and friendly in there, then we found ourselves watching the game through a fence! I know we cannot compare then and now but fans have always been treated pretty poorly. The minority then and now spoil it for the majority.
beemeroo Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I'd rather you vagabonds didn't trample our lovely turf when we still have home games to play and a title to win.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 All this talk reminded me of that steward at the front of L1 with his rolled up sleeves and pre ding-dong warmup routine, had me in stitches Little moments like that are what I cherish on shite times watching City such as 80 minutes of last night
Alf Bentley Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 There is a game on the pitch tonight, so I can understand the club not wanting people on it. But a line of stewards could have dealt with that last night and not half of Leicester's police force. I had no intention of going on the pitch, but the sight of that lot coming out made me want to out of sheer disobedience. +1 A healthy antagonism towards the unjustified imposition of authority. As a (relatively) mild-mannered, unfit middle-aged bloke, I had no intention whatsoever of going on the pitch, but felt a strong urge to do so, when I saw the arrival of the "thick blue line". If people around me on the Kop had started going on, I'd have probably joined in...and ruptured myself on the advertising hoardings! Just shows how stupid and counter-productive an excessive police presence is. Whoever ordered that police presence is responsible for provoking the antagonism.

Ruptured on the advertising hoardings Laughter aside, great post. If they antagonise the fans they should expect a reaction. QPR and Donny will be very interesting.
jimmeh Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Why on earth would you plan going onto the pitch. It's something that would happen in the moment.
ealingfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Anyone who wanted to go on the pitch after THAT game should be fvcking thankful that the Club stopped them. Would have looked unbelievably embarrassing and tinpot. With the title still to secure, why on earth was last night the moment? I'm giving the authorities the benefit of the doubt, and going with the story that Top rang up the feds after their 2nd. "Yeah, it's me. You'd better get down here before half 9, I'm not having anyone on the pitch after this shit. Didn't they see the Watford fans last season? God"
Babylon Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Would have looked unbelievably embarrassing and tinpot. With our continued attempts at light shows, claps at x minutes and now and okey cokey song we are beyond that already.
bobbysmith Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Has anyone in this thread ever seen equipped riot police before? i think you know the answer to that joe
Fox Ulike Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 A planned pitch invasion 4 days AFTER promotion after losing 4-1 yes lets moan about the club not letting fans do something ILLEGAL Embarrassing. Why waste the pitch invasion now when we can save it for when we win the league (hopefully). Also a pitch invasion when were playing and full time whistle goes and we win the league. Its supposed to be spontaneous Bang on. Pitch invasions should be spontanious. They happen if a dramatic late goal seals promotion, for example, and the fans just can't contain their emotion. Like against Newcastle in 92. Our season has been too easy and too comfortable... We haven't had the stress and so we haven't had the emotional highs either. A planned pitch invasion sounds about as passionate as walking over a golf course. What's the point?
Babylon Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Ruptured on the advertising hoardings Last time I tried to get on any pitch was a 20/20 at grace road... watch the replay closely of the celebrations on tv and you will see a flip flop shoot up in the air and someone crash to the ground in the background. That was me.
Langley Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 How about an open letter to the club from us about last night?
Bert Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 All this talk reminded me of that steward at the front of L1 with his rolled up sleeves and pre ding-dong warmup routine, had me in stitches Little moments like that are what I cherish on shite times watching City such as 80 minutes of last night Seen him as well. Bouncing round on his feet like he was a boxer.
Fox92 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 As a club have we REALLY got this pathetic? "IM GOING ON THE PITCH" .... Then cry when they cant.. That's seriously the highlught of your season to spend a few minutes on the pitch after a 4-1 loss? Absolutely no doubt it will happen at doncaster, but I've not seen the end of it, Fcuk sake... The best season in 10 years and we are still crying over something, it's an absolute embarrassment.... I can understand that it's frustrating, and yes its a nice touch to a good season, but after a 4-1 loss on a tuesday night are you serious? Grow up for **** sake. seriously embarrassing for the people tweeting, Facebooking and calling in. ****ing fans think they own the club I agree, in a way... I can't see the obsession with a pitch invasion, I mean you can enjoy it otherways. I'm not saying don't do it, but people phoning in saying "well Southampton had one, Reading had one" etc I just don't get. Just because a club does it doesn't mean we have to. I don't get why people kept/keep posting on here either. Arn't things like pitch invasions supposed to be spontaneous, not pre-planned. No wonder the club got more security in if they read this board.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 What are people so bothered about re going on the pitch? Genuinely... can't you celebrate with the club without having to congregate on the pitch? Personally if I were on the Board I wouldn't want people on that exceptionally kept lawn. There's just no need to.
