An Away Move Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Personally I hate the term. I think any fan who jumps with joy when his/her team wins and feels the hurt after a loss is a true fan. All the other talk about 'plastics' is inverse snobbery of the worst kind. Why do some feel the need to differentiate themselves as being more authentic fans than others? It's not as if we are Man Utd have millions more fans living outside the city compared to those who live within the city boundaries. Might it be the case that the term originates from the fans of those 'big' clubs anyway? We are not even at that stage. Yet. So why have we adopted it? And are there really any good reasons why one Leicester fan should sneer at another Leicester fan? What would the club think about that?
Mark_w Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 And are there really any good reasons why one Leicester fan should sneer at another Leicester fan? Yes, there are tons of good reasons.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Not bothered how many games people go to, it's the attitude of some of them that's the problem. Lots of STHs just as bad, but it's far more irritating to hear someone say they haven't been to a game all season and then whinge at last night. Good riddance.
jonthefox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Am i plastic because i left when the scored their fourth?
Anonafox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I disagree entirely. Whilst I can understand there may be underlying reasons for not attending regularly eg finances, I find it highly amusing how they manage to come to the big games which cost even more. I can not comprehend people who came last night (and yes, I heard them) saying 'well I definitely won't be buying a season ticket' Good. I hope you don't. Good riddance. It's not snobbery or arrogance, it is an opinion.
Stadt Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Am i plastic because i left when the scored their fourth?I did the same, we probably are plastic though.
Anonafox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Am i plastic because i left when the scored their fourth? No, and nobody here said you were.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I don't care who comes. How they come or how many games they've been too before. You have to start somewhere. What annoys me is I know off a few people who went yesterday who support Man U and Liverpool. They couldn't name a player of ours and couldn't care less how we got promoted. In fact, they refer to us as there second team. **** off with that mate.

It's not snobbery or arrogance, it is an opinion. With regards going to the big games that cost more - when you are in a position that you have to very carefully pick the games you go to as it's an absolute luxury you're more inclined to go to the "bigger" games which are significantly less often (I've written "bigger" in inverted commas as I think all games are just as important as the next). So I've not been to a game all season but after a discussion with the other half a few weeks ago it was agreed I would try and get to as many of the remaining games as possible - so off I went to Burnley. But this month I had to put oil in our tank for heating and my sister came to stay for a few days so I paid for her food and travel. As a consequence I had planned to go last night and I couldn't - but at least we could put the heating on again. Had I have gone last night though I wouldn't have said the ridiculous things I was hearing the radio - from supposed STH as well! I think if a comment is ridiculous - it's ridiculous, no matter whether a 50 year SHT or first timer (but life long supporter) said it! We need to be embracing all the "new" fans! Can't we be a friendly, welcoming club for goodness sakes!!
blueonyou Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Too much fuss about nothing. It was always going to happen. Day trippers have every right to be there and expected a win and were probably disappointed. Who cares, personally I despise people leaving early, but they have a right, some dick behind me was shouting at full time saying load of sh1t. Makes me angry but it's always going to happen. Doesnt matter, we're promoted, if we loose every game till the end of the season I couldnt give a monkeys. The squad has been in top gear all season, I'd rather they tire and give up now than 3 months ago like last year.
FrankieADZ Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 in my view....its the glory hunter fans, one who are more than able to go(money, health etc wise) but chose not too unless we are doing well....there the ones that get on my wick. kinda like with the whole leaving at 80mins lark...a very snobbish reaction from a fair few on that one too.
MrBojangly Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 What's with all this inherited guilt that football fans take on? Just pay to watch if you want to and don't be bullied into thinking you have to be part of a chest-thumping tribe. I'm sure I will be Leicester until I die because it's where I'm from and I enjoy supporting my local team. But I don't proclaim it as some perceived badge of honour or reward for my years of service.

jamfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The people whom left early siting next to me were all regulars ,Id bet my house that some who come every week are the most negative moaning ones out there. this thread is not that far away from my granddad is harder than your granddad! I get to about 7 games every season and have done every year for ten years. I live in South Yorkshire and I have to work away and at weekends some times. Iv watched us get out played by Brighton twice this season but I stayed and sang at the end because of the season achievement. So am I "plastic"? I'm confused! well actually if it makes you feel like you have a massive cock and your can look down from behind your giant bell end at me then I really could not give a fu*k.
Master Fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I left after 30 mins. Had to attend a coke filled gang bang. Sorry guys. Keep singing.
KentyLCFC Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 My mate is a liverpool fan and calls leicester his "second team". But from what i remember he did come down every home game in the league 1 season and last season he also came to a few home games as well as 1 away game. This season he has also been to a few games aswell. So he is probably not a "true fan" but imo I still class him as a fan.
Tommy G Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The fans around me in SK1 last night were a disgrace. More focused on turning on our own support than supporting the team. Embaressing
An Away Move Posted 9 April 2014 Author Posted 9 April 2014 We need to be embracing all the "new" fans! Can't we be a friendly, welcoming club for goodness sakes!! This. And the owners of the club and our players probably agree. And isn't there some irony in that the 'real fans' might not?!
WhispyWizard Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The fans around me in SK1 last night were a disgrace. More focused on turning on our own support than supporting the team. Embaressing Must have been in a different SK1 to me, only heard them turning on those that were walking out at 4-0, which the whole ground was doing.

lcfc1994 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Ah for fvck sake, the word 'plastic' when used in that way just makes me cringe and shudder.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Plenty of people around me in non STH seats who stayed till the end and did not moan constantly throughout the game, this whole thing of only the day-trippers spoiled the party isn't accurate from what I saw around me This "plastic" thing is generally bollocks for a club like Leicester. I don't think there are too many folk if any, with no link to the city and no intention of ever attending a game yet still buy a shirt and not have a fvcking clue who is in the squad e.g. "that Swedish fella in goal, Conrad Schmugel whose dad played for Liverpool all them years." The people with the flag in the picture at the top of this article left when Brighton's fourth went in and they are long term STHs , and they weren't the only regulars to do so: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-owners-pay-tribute-manager-Nigel/story-20931891-detail/story.html
hackneyfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The fans around me in SK1 last night were a disgrace. More focused on turning on our own support than supporting the team. Embaressing I've sat in SK1 since the ground opened. If anyone gives me grief about 'not singing' they'll get a mouthfull. I know glory hunters piss people off but pages of complaints about them is ott, there are some real sanctimonious pricks amongst our support.

Spot on, the same applies to going down the pub or cinema, you go when it best suits you and for the best entertainment.
