Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The sanctimony and arrogance of some people is amazing tbh. It's embarrassing to see people patting themselves on the back because they believe they are a better quality fan than somebody else, or have spent more money, or shout more loudly and more frequently. Get over yourself. Most annoying is how presumptuous it is to start making statements about the attendance history or degree of partisanship of someone just because they haven't behaved in a way you believe they should behave at a football match. I have sat in the same seat for almost 10 years and some of the "die hard" fans around me, who have hardly missed a game in 30 years, are the biggest moaners I have seen at a football match and often leave early regardless of the result. But who cares? People can do what they want; it's their choice, they aren't worse fans because they don't behave precisely as "real fans" expect them to.
kingfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 They are a disgrace, they come once a season when the team is playing well, and if they ain't performing well, they instantly think the team is shit. The two guys next to me last night, brought a half season ticket, the first time they have been this season, as they gave their tickets to somebody else in the past. They left about 70 minutes, and said we aren't coming again, they said we can't pass a ball to save our lives, and where the fook was Vardy. Those types of people are a disgrace, they know fook all about Leicester City, but when we are playing well, they turn up and claim they are fans. Not On!

Anger and frustration at people choosing to disrespect one of the most promising Leicester teams ever assembled by leaving early during the first match where promotion has been confirmed is not sanctimonious or arrogant. And judging by the reaction of the majority of fans at the KP last night my anger was justified and well placed. Don't give a shit how many games people go to blah, blah, blah but at least give the lads a round of applause for some amazing stuff this season.

ST holders that have been sitting near me for a decade say things like this. Some of them genuinely haven't missed a game, home or away, for decades. Are they also a "disgrace"? Your profile of a typical "disgraceful" fans doesn't really exist. Like it or not, lots of die hard Leicester fans slate us every week, while the different plastic fan who sits in the spare seat next to me stays 'till the end and shouts nothing but encouragement. It helps you to invent this archetypal plastic fan who slates the team, gets all the player names wrong, drinks from a thermos flask and leaves with 20 minutes to go etc, but those characteristics are seen in lots of different types of fans, not just the one-off attendees.

Do fully agree with this post though
Bevan Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Some fans are so desperate to prove they are loyal that they try to alienate others. It's pathetic abusing fans for leaving early, so what it's their ticket they can do what that like.
Fox92 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The only thing that annoys me is when they turn up late (or get lost), then sit near me and talk about shite that hasn't got to do with football.
TJB-fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Plastic is a bit of a shit term yes. But ill tell you what annoys me about these people. I missed 15minutes of the game yesterday queuing outside the caravan (live down south can't get a ST) and the bloke behind the stall was giving directions to those who had never been to KP before. I assume that when we were shit, these people 'couldn't afford it' or were 'working' but now we're a bigtime side they can 'suddenly' go down the football. I had to queue longer for the toilet and food than usual too, which generally annoyed me. Then to cap it off seeing about a fith of the ground leave around the 70th minute, jesus christ. Yes it's their seat/ticket so they can do what they want with it. But, one bad game doesn't make a bad season so you stay and support your team. I know the ground will be full against Donny. Some of those people who are 'superficial' fans that are probably the same people who have been booing recently. Whether we're 4-1 down or 10-0 down, or 7-0 up, you stay and support your team-the players/NP deserve that at least. Hopefully when we lose a few in the prem some of these start dropping off
AKCJ Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Anybody that calls themselves a Leicester fan, is a Leicester fan in my eyes. But anyone that left after 4-0 yesterday purely because "they'd had enough" needs to have a word with themselves.
tommyh Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 just wondering if i am classed as a 'plastic fan'?? I live 60 miles away from leicester(stoke), only been 7 home games and 3 away games this season due to work and cash, get every home and away top each season, whenever i am not at a match i have the commentary on whilst watching soccer saturday, i am constantly on forums like this one as you dont get many news/ rumours about Leicester in Stoke. I absolutely love the club......... PLEASE HELP!?!?
Bayfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I have a plan. Can they (you) all turn up every week but then **** off after 5mins if thats the effect it has on the atmosphere

tommyh Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 can't tell if this is sarcasm but obviously not. no.... just dont know it this kind of chant is aimed at me tbh by 'the superfan'.
MrSpaM Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Don't really have a problem with people moaning, everybody is entitled to an opinion. It's the fans who left at half time yesterday I have an issue with, I mean wtf?!?
paulsherwood1 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 For me I think it's pretty sad that some people think they are better fans than others just because they can make more games. A leicester fan is a leicester fan. I have been to two games this season. Barnsley away and last night. Am I plastic? Was I plastic when I stood and watched us lose 7-1 at Newcastle? Or lose a 4-2 lead in ten minutes at the same ground? Or was I plastic when i travelled all the way to the goldstone ground ( that's brightons ground for all those young lads chanting about plastic fans ) only for the game to be called off as we pulled up in Brighton. Or how about when I was at Portman road to see us lose 4-0 on a freezing Boxing Day..... Or even when we lost at a freezing boundary park on a plastic pitch? I have chalked up hundreds of games and thousands of miles. My circumstances dictate I can't get as much these days. Does that make me plastic? The plastic bit is not right. However, I did feel the fans leaving on the 4th goal was a tad embarrassing. I certainly didn't. But again, some of these people have work that very night. A chap on my row left on the 4th goal because he was at work at 11pm. I think he's justified in that, For me, I think people need to shut up about the plastic debate and get on with following a team we all love.
Fox Ulike Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 People are allowed to choose their own levels of commitment and dedication to the Foxes. Being a fan shouldn't be a competition against your fellow supporters to prove that you are somehow a better fan than they are. Live and let live.
Gubbins Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Anybody that calls themselves a Leicester fan, is a Leicester fan in my eyes. But anyone that left after 4-0 yesterday purely because "they'd had enough" needs to have a word with themselves. Why though? It was an absolute abortion of a performance and I fully understand why anyone would want to leave at that point.
Cotts Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Even if you had the most 'plastic' fan sat in front of you talking lots of 'plastic' talk, it shouldn't be that annoying. I mean, I don't like them as much as other fans, but I don't see why it's so hard to tolerate them, and if you can't tolerate then ignore. There hardly detrimental to the atmosphere, they just don't contribute much to it. If the majority of the kop had a great atmosphere, would you notice a couple of fans sat down watching iplayer? I've been to quite a few Liverpool games as I have family over that way, there's often quite a lot of day-trippers there like myself. But when your in their kop you feel obliged to join in with certain chants as that mentality swamps you. If we focus on creating an atmosphere that people will want to join in with, surely that's better than any hostility towards them.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The plastics are the kind who leave with 10 mins to go when your 3-0 down, but you should be staying behind to clap the players for their performance during the rest of the season.
AKCJ Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Why though? It was an absolute abortion of a performance and I fully understand why anyone would want to leave at that point. Because we'd just been promoted and the side deserved our support. I'm glad that once the 2/3k fans left it became a great atmosphere.
john ridley Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Why though? It was an absolute abortion of a performance and I fully understand why anyone would want to leave at that point. Getting abit tired of all this I'm a "better" fan than you bollocks,we should be more bothered about the display last night .I left early last night because the performance was shit, pure and simple .But in the past I don't slag off people who leave early, its there choice, and I don't just watch em when there winning ,wonder where all these so called fans were when we used to get 6/7000 odd under pleat etc then little came along and we got full houses,we were just glad then to get a good crowd in .Cant wait for next season........its going to be "fun" on here .
Gubbins Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Because we'd just been promoted and the side deserved our support. I'm glad that once the 2/3k fans left it became a great atmosphere. The plastics are the kind who leave with 10 mins to go when your 3-0 down, but you should be staying behind to clap the players for their performance during the rest of the season. I think the upturn in atmosphere was largely down to gallows humour which often happens when your team is getting stuffed. The players will be clapped and lauded for promotion come the end of the season against Doncaster. They didn't deserve any applause at all for last night's performance.
hackneyfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The only thing that annoys me is when they turn up late (or get lost), then sit near me and talk about shite that hasn't got to do with football. Sorry, sometimes I turn up a couple of minutes late and then have the temerity to chat to my friends (who I may not have seen in a month or more) about things other than what is happening on the pitch. ffs

Why should people stay and watch another 10 minutes of what was a shocking performance? If the crowd had been the more normal 23k there would still have been plenty leaving with 10 minutes to go. People can applaud at the QPR or Donny games when we've hopefully become Champions.
