FFP Fine

We all know about Football Fair Play and the fines imposed on teams for over spending.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on how much we may get fined at the end of the season?

Not sure of the actual figures involved, but surely we are going to be slightly over the threshold even though we have cut down wages considerably?

I believe we've met it for this season with the cost cutting measures (certainly that's the noises being made by the club - the press still think we're spending Sven money and splashing out big time on players and wages, they've well behind the times) so nadda, but there's a general fine set up for past £8m: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/law/elj/eslj/issues/volume10/geey/geey.pdf

Percentage of the Excess                                      Excess                                 Calculation (rounded up)
1% of the Excess between                               £1 and £100,000                                   £1,000
20% of the Excess between                          £100,001 and £500,000             A maximum of £80,000
40% of the Excess between                        £500,001 and £1,000,000            A maximum of £200,000
60% of the Excess between                        £1,000,001 and £5,000,000          A maximum of £2.4m
80% of the Excess between                       £5,000,001 and £10,000,000           A maximum of £4m
100% of the Excess over                                      £10,000,000.                                No Maximum

I don't think we will have much to worry about - maybe a couple of mill (he said, smugly) but Florist and (probably) QPR are going to be in deep doo-doo.

We could have a little payday if we do comply with it

"As explained all fine proceeds will be distributed equally amongst FFP compliant clubs"

If I remember correctly this got changed and the money now goes to charity.

That would be kind - I think it goes to charity.

Only the three teams that get promotion will be fined/taxed if they fail FFP, this will go to charity, any other team failing FFP will have a transfer embargo placed on them starting 1/1/2015  this will continue until they can show they are on track with acceptable losses. (or obviously a profit)

How much will QPR pay if they win the play-offs? It's a lot, isn't it?

If they made the same loss as last year (£65.4 million) it would be a fine of about £63 million lol

If they fight it a decent lawyer will get them off - FFP contravenes just about law / spirit of the EU, including restaint of trade / human right to spend money to succeed in business / life.

If somebody, not legally convened said you can't spend more than £10 per night on drink, because you can't hold your liquor would you accept it!

In my opinion a poorly thought out set of rules forced on clubs. Penalising everyone for a couple of idiot clubs.

I can't see how clubs can get away with it by going to courts because surely all the 24 clubs in the championship signed the ffp rules and regulations at the start of the season saying that they will adhere to the rules or face penalties. This document should throw out all appeals against it as the club opposing it will have their signature on the original document.

I think you will also find a little rule that states no member club can take the league to court over rules.

And as every club has to reapply for membership every season they can refuse the application.

Yep, 62 million & 81 thousand if they make that loss. Pretty much wipes any money from going up.
