Tom's Pasta Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Surprised this hasn't been locked. Sounds like the deal is dead?
jayfox26 Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Regardless of wage structure, player morale etc, the main fact here is he isn't worth £40k a week. If we signed a player that is considerably better than what we already have ie Cardozo, then the players probably wouldn't mind him earning a bit more, but to have a player who would arguably only be a squad player as the highest earner just doesn't make sense. It is another example of how money in football has gone silly! An average premier league player now expects to earn £40k a week. Total joke in my opinion!
TrentFox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 How are we relegation favourites? Surely you would get a good return on your cash if we DO go down... All the teams who finished on 100 points have stayed up! Think the clue is at the beginning and end of the words relegation favourites. #context Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TrentFox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Why does it submit my post but not actually show anything I typed ?? Weird.
Filbert_Ross Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Happy ?? There is not a player anywhere worth £40k a week. There is.

All the teams who finished on 100 points have stayed up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk we are third favourites for relegation (behind burnley and qpr) and pretty well alongside Dull and palace.
ronnup Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 we are third favourites for relegation (behind burnley and qpr) and pretty well alongside Dull and palace. Given Hull's squad I'm amazed they're similar odds to us.
st albans fox Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Given Hull's squad I'm amazed they're similar odds to us. its a market - if the squads look the same come august, then i expect punters will notice and Dull's odds will become longer than ours to be relegated. given that most have no idea how decent we can be, i wonder if i might have a nibble on us staying up, assuming our odds lengthen.
Rushden fox Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Off to palace to see if he can get more cash....according to the BBC gossip column
jmono84 Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Off to palace to see if he can get more cash....according to the BBC gossip column Does anyone know if he's actually with a club at this moment or training with anyone?? If I was a player id like to have been snapped up and trainin with my teammates gettin fit!! Can only assume he wants more than what clubs thinks he's worth
st albans fox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 he's still a cardiff player and if no one signs him he will remain a cardiff player. i expect he's on more than twenty quid a week so if he has to stay in south wales, he will.
jmono84 Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Oh right sorry, it was a clause in his contract not he's not a freebie... My bad
BlueTillIDie Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 He obviously wants too much money, would be a great addition to the squad but Nige wont be held to ransom so move on.
Maybes Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 I'm sure NP will tell him to bollocks before too long. No chance NP will be taken for a ride by this mug.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Is 40k a week that much to pay? I imagine that is the going rate for a bang average striker in the prem due to the money that is flying around it. Not bothered whether we sign Campbell or not as I do not think he is that good but a good team spirit can only take you so far...
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 I wouldn't want him here now if he changed his mind and said he would take 30K. Money orientated only, thus a liability.Very much this..Although which top footballers these days aren't money orientated? Surprises me that he can 'get more cash' at Palace?

Exactly what I've been thinking. £40k with a wage drop upon relegation with perhaps a cheap sale price if relegated in his favour I can't see the problem.

I don't think the absolute size of the wage is the important bit. It's the fact he'd probably end up being one of our highest paid players on £40k and I'd doubt that he'd be first choice striker. He'd probably be behind at least Nugent and Vardy (and maybe Ulloa if we got him). I see that as the reason for not wanting to pay £40k for a back-up player. It's all about relative wages in my view
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Very much this.. Although which top footballers these days aren't money orientated? Surprises me that he can 'get more cash' at Palace? I'm surprised too, but they seem to have the cash to splash, or are hoping to unload a player or two.
jayfox26 Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 I'm surprised Palace will offer him £40k a week if that's what it is, he isn't worth that much. He would probably be on more than Wes, Kasper and Danny if we signed him on them wages, hence why I'm glad we've ****ed him off.
johnny the fox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 well, we know he's not gone their because he loves the club...we are better off without people who's number 1 priority is getting as much dosh as possible whether its a good career move or not.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 How the f**k did Palace get Sigurdsson. Because they were prepared to give him a salary. Get used to this because unless we loosen the purse strings by some margin we will be no where near even this quality of player let alone someone who can come in and create a real difference. If you shop at Lidl there are one or two real bargains to be had. Unfortunately the rest of the stuff is pretty shit. Oh well you get what you pay for...
