JJS84 Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 I have heard he is happy with what he has got. Expect no more than two more signings? Unless, we sell some more we are not bringing in a load more. Hence, why, contracts are being renewed and sorted with what we already have. Some, on here will be disappointed with this news. However, it is what will happen. if this is case, and based on the other teams that we will be realistically fighting for league position and their recent transfer activity, gomis to swansea, livermore to hull, stokes early business etc, then i fear this may be a harder season than many anticipate. i think we still need 4 good quality players still to really give this our best shot of staying in the prem next season. i also realise its early as many have said, and players and staff are on summer breaks, and the club keep transfers as quiet as possible, plus nigel's signings are well thought out and generally not big names. I'm just concerned we're going to start next season with a squad lacking in the quality required to stay up.
Livid Posted 26 June 2014 Posted 26 June 2014 Nugent eventually signs up and i'm not so concerned about up front, unless Vardy gets crocked for the season! The Midfield is fine as it is. At the back we need to spend. Much as I love them and how well they read the game, this is a different level, Was and Wes they will get exposed for pace. Liam Moore is getting there, but I think we need a couple of quality signings at centre and left back. That and a couple of more squad players on free transfers and i'm happy.
jamiegoode Posted 26 June 2014 Posted 26 June 2014 To be honest id be happy if we only spend a few million, campell is around the 800k-1m mark, then 1/2 unknown talents around europe / asia maybe [Like Knocky / Mahrez] Yeah a part of me would love us to spend 20m+ on players ive heard of in fifa / fm but look at Norwich / Cardiff / QPR big names dont always mean success. My picks would be guys like Celso Borges, Tom Hateley, Charlie Mulgrew, cheap, low wages, and decent players, theres always plenty of decent talent in the free market Sam Hutchinson, Chris Eagles, David Ngog, Patrik Mccourt, Natrhan Defouneso, Emmanuel Frimpong....

sylofox Posted 26 June 2014 Posted 26 June 2014 Give it time. It's still very early. Very little business has taken place yet. I reiterate, its not about how much WILL we spend, but how much SHOULD we spend. IMO the two figures may well be way apart. How much WILL. SHOULD. DO We Need to spend? Enough to keep us up but if NP spent 30m and we went down enough on here will say he should have spent 50m. What we should praps debate is how many games before the shite start calling for his head.

He's probably got a lot more he could and should spend than he actually will. If that's the case and we start poorly then it won't take long before people start questioning his lack of signings. Not saying it would be right but there's a lot of people who think we need 4 more first eleven players to have a chance of competing.

Hackney in one way your right but with our start we could spend 50m and still not start to well. NP has a squad spirit and wants to build on it not destroy it. It may be the case we have one season up go down and come back stronger (worst case) Long as we don't go down with a whimper I'd want NP to stay on. But if he spends it all now he has nothing for jan. We have an untested squad that he may spend to replace someone that could step up. We could also have players we think will do it and struggle. Just think we all need to give it time and not just the first five or six games. English football is littered with clubs that splashed the cash and failed as we did.

sphericalfox Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Are you seriously you criticising someone for offering ridiculous transfer targets?
kingfox Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Are you seriously you criticising someone for offering ridiculous transfer targets? At least mine are fookin realistic.
sphericalfox Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 At least mine are fookin realistic. No. No they're not. FIFA '14 is not the basis of reality to start listing credible transfer possibilities.
jamiegoode Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Ok, I was only pulling a few names out of the free transfer market hat, I'm sure there's plenty other decent European ones too, do we really need to strength loads? Just get a bit of good cover in case of injuries, those handful of freebies I listed would be decent if we needed to rest a few players.
