Hope Rooney plays well tonight and does something class.

The bloke can't win. Even when he plays will he still gets slated.

I've been asking for Milner at right back for months, I'm a footballing pioneer!

I can see why Roy is protecting Sturridge but him and Rooney need as much game time together as possible. I'm a bit upset if Sterling doesn't get a start either!!

If Rooney and Sturridge need game time together, then the flip side of that is that Streling and Sturridge have had plenty.  Personally I would drop Rooney for Sterling.  Wayne might be effective off the bench and pissed off.

What's the point in Milner playing right back? I know Johnson is turd but we should have taken Flanagan in the first place.

We might as well have taken Trippier if we're playing Milner at RB.

Read the full interview and see what question Roy was answering before you post shite!

Your little vendetta against him is a tad boring! Zzzzz

Fair play, it was taken out of context which I'm not surprised about after all it's the media.

I have no 'vendetta' against him though. I'm an England fan and I don't think he's good enough or positive enough to be manager. Here's one of the reasons...

Sterling must have a knock or something.

Needs to be starting!!

But he won't start regardless. Milner is that safe defensive option which will be employed when we play better teams, one of the reasons which adds to my "vendetta".

Milner's been brilliant on the wing for Man City this season whenever I've seen them, and was far from the unfair negative and defensive stereotype you and others always trot out about him.

I know he has; I know he's a decent footballer. He's still the safe option though. Who would you prefer to play against as a left full back, Milner or a player with a bit of flair with the ability to beat players ala Sterling?

I'd have taken De Laet over Trippier

Much prefer seeing Milner play right back than Johnson, but I fully expect to see Johnson playing right back against Honduras and against Italy. I am not a Glen Johnson fan at the minute, waste of space.

I'm getting sick of this Rooney slating as well, suppose the country does need to find someone to hate and blame before going into a major tournament, the media haven't done their part yet. If Henry Winter is right and that is the eleven then I wouldn't expect to see Rooney stay out on the left, expect the Ox to play from there over Rooney.

I'm not a fan of this 4-2-3-1 system, it was brilliant a few years ago but its becoming the new 4-4-2, everyone knows how to set up against this system and knows how to exploit you and I fear we are too predictable when we play this system.

Worrying that Sterling hasn't got a start, maybe Roy is saving him for Saturday and play him with the big boys ahead of Italy, otherwise Hodgson may as well jump off a Florida cliff ahead of the World Cup.

I wholeheartedly agree The Hat, Sterling is the first name on my team sheet right now for England. The lad is class.

Milner has all the credentials to be a very good full back. Defensively he's one of the best i've seen from a midfielder and his crossing ability puts Johnson's to shame as well. For all this hype about Johnson being good going forward but poor defensively, it's not true at all. He is poor at both, he contributed a paltry 2 assists all of last season for Liverpool in a very attack minded team. His decision making in the final third is horrid as is his crossing and passing.

I'm not suggesting we took Trippier, ideally Flanagan would be in the squad but what's the point in taking a midfielder to play at Right back in a position that he hasn't played in very often - granted he's probably got the ability to play at fullback but the World Cup isn't the right time to start playing somebody in an unfamiliar position.

I'd have taken De Laet over Trippier

Am I missing something here?

Milner must've trained with England in that spot at some point before and Hodgson must've noted something; I can't see Roy being naïve enough to begin trying to acclimatise him to that position before such a huge tourny.

For what it's worth I think it could work, half the time he's played out on the right for England he's been covering the arse of either Johnson or Walker and getting sod all credit for it from most morons, if his positional sense is even half as good as his engine I can't see him being a complete disaster; would allow whoever's in front of him to go berserk, too.

Can't see us conceding, we'll have a lot of the ball without creating too much but we'll be comfortable, 2nd gear stuff. 2-0 for me.

Agree with this, I reckon we'll score another set piece as well.
