Filbert_Ross Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Italy potentially needing a draw in the final game to go through and top the group with Uruguay going through also. Wonder what will happen there.
WhispyWizard Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Italy potentially needing a draw in the final game to go through and top the group with Uruguay going through also. Wonder what will happen there. If Italy win tonight, Uruguay will need the win to be guaranteed of qualifying above Costa Rica, also will prob need to score a few goals. Always nice to know we can still ruin Uruguays chances of promotion. "How did you lose 6-0 to Costa Rica Roy?" "Because Suarez is a dick!"

My brain ain't kicked into gear yet this morning. My head is banging.
beemeroo Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry but a team, at any level, doesn't deserve to win anything when they are relying on other teams. Unless you win all your games, in any league situation you are always relying on other teams.
Bayfox Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 But he did get games.. He left because he couldn't get a regular game due to xavi, busquets and Inestia being picked most weeks due to the way barca played in that era.
Fox92 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Unless you win all your games, in any league situation you are always relying on other teams. No you're not, not if you're good enough. Were we relying on other teams last season? No. We were good enough to win most of our games, hence why we won the division. I don't get what people are failing to understand. England aren't good enough and don't deserve to go through. It shouldn't come to "oh I'm an Italy fan" because our Country should have been good enough to get out of the group. It's embarrassing.

Its embarrassing when you think if we do get out the group it would be because Uruguay underestimated Costa Rica. That freak result is the only reason were still in with a slim chance of getting through the group.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 country first for me. your country is something you dont choose. the pain of supporting england is addictive. to see england achieve at a major tournament is something everyone dreams about. Your football team should be something you don't choose as well..you support your local team in my eyes...wherever you're born and raised! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry but a team, at any level, doesn't deserve to win anything when they are relying on other teams. I think that's complete fvcking shit personally. If those results happen it'll mean we'll have been better than Uruguay and Costa Rica. Are you trying to say that one of them deserves it more somehow? Because if we don't deserve it (having been the better team) then one of them deserves it ahead of us. I take it you also thought Leicester had wronged the footballing world when we took 6th spot a year ago? Yes and if we win the first 30 games 1-0 we will be champions. C'mon leicester its on What a woeful comparison that is. I know some people love to attack the team they claim to support but come on, lets put a lid on the pessimism for a few days.

I'm not saying any team is better than us, or any team deserves it ahead of us, but all I mean is you cannot rely on other teams to expect to go through. You need to ensure that you win, not rely on another team. No I didn't think we wronged the footballing World, but part of it was in our hands. We had to win at Forest then hope Bolton messed up. In England's case it isn't in our hands and we're relying on Italy to win (twice?).

It's easy for someone to turn around and say, well I support Chelsea, or united, because they win every week and they've got all the best players. I feel sorry for them. They'll never be able to replicate the emotional trauma supporting your hometown club puts you through. Been tough being a city fan lately but it was worth every second of administration and piss poor players for that goal from Lloydy at Bolton to put that © besides our name in the league table!! Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry but a team, at any level, doesn't deserve to win anything when they are relying on other teams. In this instance yes In general that's a stupid comment.
Fox92 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 In this instance yes In general that's a stupid comment. Why is it? If you're good enough then you don't rely on other teams... We were superb last season as we won most of our games. Not once were we relying on other teams, a point Nige made.

promised land Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Nit picking i know. But promoted when? After we won our game on the Friday night of that weekends fixtures, we did our bid and the rest failed.
Fox92 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Nit picking i know. But promoted when? I don't understand what you're trying to say...
hackneyfox Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Why is it? If you're good enough then you don't rely on other teams... We were superb last season as we won most of our games. Not once were we relying on other teams, a point Nige made. We didn't win all our games last season hence we relied on other teams to lose more games than we did. We had to win at Forest but had to rely on Bolton losing while England had to win next Tuesday and had to rely on Italy winning twice. Not that much difference between the 2 scenarios except one came off.
Mark_w Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry but a team, at any level, doesn't deserve to win anything when they are relying on other teams. Bollocks, the system is fair, four teams everyone plays each other once. If we'd finished second we would have deserved it even if we'd only picked up three points.
Fox92 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Bollocks, the system is fair, four teams everyone plays each other once. If we'd finished second we would have deserved it even if we'd only picked up three points. Jesus, calm down. First of all, I never said the system wasn't fair. I know it's fair, it's been used for years and years. I'm not debating that. Lolewise, I'm not debating if we would be "good enough" or not, all I said, and believe, is that you shouldn't be relying on other teams to get through. England have been rubbish (not a surprise, I predicted this would happen) and people were saying "we can still get through we just need Italy to win twice and Costa Rica to lose" - And when it comes down to that, you just have to face you're not good enough to go through. I would have accepted it if ourselves, Italy and Uruguay were all on the same number of points with a game to go, but we are far from that and don't deserve to go through anyway. You create your own luck in football, and if you're good enough you have control of your own destiny not he relying on your rivals to win their remaining games. In some instances you might rely on a result here and there. Look at when Manchester United won at Sunderlabd and we're relying on QPR to beat Man City so they'd win the league. But then again, if they were good enough that season then they would have already had the league wrapped up, or at least have it in their own hands. Some of these replies are truly astonishing to me. You don't rely on other teams, and if you are then you've probably not been good enough to deserve to qualify/win something.
MattGamble92 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 I think if you love your country, you cannot feel anything but love for the national side. I will always love England and always believe despite the constant moaners, who seem to almost enjoy us failing. I'm very shocked to see so amny of you say your club doesnt disssapoint year after year and leave you feeling frustrated. I must have dreamt the last 10 years of my life.England and Leicester have put me through so much. In fact i have no doubt whatsoever one or both will make me ill one day. But i wouldnt have it any other way because feeling these bitter lows only makes it so much better when we win, like this great season. England WILL have their time to shine. And when they do it will be great.
Bayfox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 I don't understand what you're trying to say... Off the pitch. Due to other teams. But not reliant on others 😮
