Tom17LCFC Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Haha I can't take anyone who thinks we should have appointed Redknapp seriously.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Totally irrelevant whether they stay in or go out. They've both beaten us and put us out, something you said wouldn't happen. We're much better than Uruguay remember? I didn't say that.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Author Posted 20 June 2014 I didn't say that. Oh ok, I must of misinterpretated the last six months you spent telling us all we were better than them incorrectly then.

I didn't say we were better than them. I just disagreed with the notion that Uruguay would definitely top the group.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 The heat, the second popular myth you've come out with today. It's not actually that hot in Brazil. Sao Paulo where we played Uruguay in particular. No I forgot it's like a autumn night in London.... The third 'myth' I'm gonna come up with is that you have a clue what you're on about..
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Author Posted 20 June 2014 I didn't say we were better than them. I just disagreed with the notion that Uruguay would definitely top the group. Yeah you did, don't make me dig the quotes out. No I forgot it's like a autumn night in London.... The third 'myth' I'm gonna come up with is that you have a clue what you're on about.. Dickhead It's no different to playing in August or May here, so wind your neck in.
The Doctor Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 I kinda get this and am not just dismissing it. The 'English way' ( as I've always seen it) is a pressing, quick tempo'd, get-at-em sort of game. It's about getting the ball forward quickly, not pissing about with it in the middle of the park, and it's about attack being the best form of defence. The problem with this is two-fold: 1. The heat in Brazil... Our lads are just not used to it.. Yes, some of the South American sides adopt this style of play but THEY are used to the climate. 2. It's not worked for us in the past. The 'English game' was criticised years ago for not being controlling enough. We lost the ball too much and couldn't retain it. Therefore, or so I thought? We needed to adopt a more 'continental' style of play. The problem with this is that our players just aren't good enough at keeping the ball. Where we've gone wrong in this World Cup IMO is not when we had the ball... We've attacked pretty well, but WITHOUT the ball, we've been clueless. What a load of toss. Manaus I could give you, but Sao Paolo? That's a european climate, particularly in mid-winter.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Yeah you did, don't make me dig the quotes out. Dickhead It's no different to playing in August or May here, so wind your neck in. C'mon.. Admit it that was funny...
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 What a load of toss. Manaus I could give you, but Sao Paolo? That's a european climate, particularly in mid-winter. Sorry, I forgot we are a developing young team who, just wait, will mount a real challenge in four years.. Etc...
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Author Posted 20 June 2014 C'mon.. Admit it that was funny... You got a didn't you
The Doctor Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry, I forgot we are a developing young team who, just wait, will mount a real challenge in four years.. Etc... The average age of the midfield and attack was 26, which is still fairly young. Take out Gerrard, since he'll likely be out at the end of this one, and definitely won't be at Russia 2018 and it goes down to 23. The attack is very promising, and in Stones, Flanagan and Shaw, there's some good young players coming through in defence. Don't be a tool, just accept that you're wrong about Redknapp.
One Legged Beaver Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp I doubt you lot would have even qualified for the tournament under him with Ferdinand, Dawson, Parker etc!
The Doctor Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp I doubt you lot would have even qualified for the tournament under him with Ferdinand, Dawson, Parker etc! But they're an honest bunch of lads, and 'arrys a t'riffic manager.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp got into the top 4 twice and got to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hodgson has never even managed in the Champions League.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2014 Author Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp got into the top 4 twice and got to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hodgson has never even managed in the Champions League. Yeah but their both totally irrelevant points Much like your points on Italy and Uruguays qualifying campaign or the FIFA World Cup game rankings or pretty much anything else you say.
The Doctor Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp got into the top 4 twice and got to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hodgson has never even managed in the Champions League. He spent a shit-ton to do it, he constantly masks his own inadequacies by spending big. You can't spend to assemble at international level. On a technicality, he managed in the top european competition while at Malmo. Given he then had two spells in international football management, and outside of Europe, that's not that bad. Bear in mind he also rebuilt Inter Milan in the 90's, they were a bit of a mess when he arrived and he left them as a top 4 side who'd been to a european final - their fans and president acknowledge all that he did for them.
orangecity23 Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 I'm actually well up for the idea of Redknapp managing England. If England are going to fail miserably at every tournment anyway, then at least I can enjoy the look on old Bagpuss's face when it happens, and the amusing sight of all his media buddies desperately trying to defend / disassociate themselves from his tattered reputation afterwards.
BoneDog Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 If I was the big boss I'd ask Ron Atkinson to come out of retirement before I offered the England job to Hazza. I'd get on the blower to Sean Dyche, Gazza and Rod Stewart before I called Hazza.
MC Prussian Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Redknapp got into the top 4 twice and got to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hodgson has never even managed in the Champions League. Redknapp's achievements say fück all about his capabilities, because there's one thing missing here - titles. All his wins and Top Four finishes amount to nothing when you can't instill a winning belief that pushes players to reach for the stars (the title in figurative speech, that is). Hodgson has left a lasting imprint on football in Sweden, managed smaller teams and led them to new heights or previously unheard of series of titles, managed successfully both on a national, European and an international level. All that Redknapp has to offer is a mostly red face and cockney slang. I look at Hodgson's credentials and then look at Redknapp's - the latter's achievements pale in comparison.
MC Prussian Posted 20 June 2014 Posted 20 June 2014 Sorry, I forgot we are a developing young team who, just wait, will mount a real challenge in four years.. Etc... Euro 2016 is two years away. Counting isn't your strong point, Colin.
Grandad. Posted 21 June 2014 Posted 21 June 2014 I don't know why you're so obsessed with playing 'the Liverpool way' when we don't have Suarez and all 5 Liverpool starters were absolute pony. Brilliant, out of everything I posted that is the only thing you can come at me with? Well done. The Liverpool way that was the best to watch in the Premier League this season, scoring goals for fun and free flowing football isn't what you would want to see? Finished second in the Premier League with 6 English players but you think we shouldn't of played like they did? Ok. Well done, now go back to playing Chess with your resident friends.

Don't be a tool, just accept that you're wrong about Redknapp.Accept that your churning out the same nonsense that was churned out immediately after the last failure at a World Cup. Trust in the youth, it's time for a change etc.How old are you? Have you not heard this same argument for the past 30/40 years? Try to post something interesting. An alternative reason for why England have failed at major tournaments over and over and over again. We've had umpteen managers, both domestic and foreign. We've had the so-called 'golden generation' of young players (meant to be much better than the current crop), yet we've just crashed and burned... Again Why? Don't simply post the same old turd, enlighten us... Finally.. Wrong about Redknapp? Same as I was wrong about him taking QPR straight back up? Show some humility and accept when somebody calls something correctly.
Merging Cultures Posted 21 June 2014 Posted 21 June 2014 I don't get this whole 'transition' thing. Play the best player that fits in to the team. A player shouldn't be picked just fire the sake of it, which is what had been happening and why we've ended up in a 'transition'.
CosbehFox Posted 21 June 2014 Posted 21 June 2014 Redknapp got into the top 4 twice and got to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hodgson has never even managed in the Champions League. Redknapp has never managed at a World Cup or at an European giant.
