Brazil vs Chile

Thats so cruel on Jara and Chile, theyve been magnificent this tournament and it was a shame for either team to go out like that.

Brazil are into the quarters and they have lots of room to improve, they can win it.

David Luiz is a sound lad, don't understand why there's a few on here that seem to hate him.

Not liked him since that ridiculous forearm smash he gave the Brentford player in the 90th minute of their FA Cup replay.

Cowardly and totally unnecessary.

I take it you're not a big fan of Was then?

That's the most tension I've felt during a football match for a long time. Great stuff. Sounded like a great atmosphere, too.

From a selfish viewpoint, I'm pleased that Brazil sneaked through as it keeps me in with a decent chance of winning £170 on an accumulator and it probably benefits the tournament to have the hosts in a while longer, at least.

All the same, that's hard on Chile, who could easily have gone to at least the semis with a different draw. "Queso duro!"

Really, really hope that Colombia can put the Uruguayans out now. Loved the people when I was over there as a wild youth(Ish) and love the panache with which they play football....I have a nasty feeling, though, that Uruguay will sucker them on the break and then contribute nothing in the quarters. Viva Colombia!

Epic match that, great way to start the Round of 16.

That & Williams going out of Wimbledon in the space of about 20 minutes, amazing

I've yet to see Wasilewski make a challenge like the Luiz one.

4-0 up, end of the game and he needlessly charged into the guy, knocked him out and gave him concussion. What a guy!

If Nigel has got any plans to play with a back 3 again this season we couldn't get much better than Medel for that ball playing sweeper role. He's got a release clause in his contract to go for the same fee he was bought for £10 million.

10mill for a player doesnt sound very pearson esque

Neither was offering £6 million for a striker that divides the opinion of many. I imagine most would think Medel a quality signing and not just because of his World Cup performances but how he played last season for Cardiff.

but if Gary Cahill did that to Suarez it would show PASSION!!!!?

As above it seems Luis is an easy target

Not sure where I've mentioned passion or it being ok if it was an Englishman, but whatever makes you happy.

I was apathetic towards Luiz until that point.

lol Fred.. such and such an amount of goals in such and such an amount of games... blah di blah

The man's well past his best.

That game last night would have been over way before if Brazil had a second quality striker. IMO thats why they wont win the world cup.

Jo is no better.

It fascinates me how England can be in 'a transition' (again) yet I'd play Sturridge over Fred or Jo any day. And Brazil are bookies faves for the tournament.

I'd like to see Sturridge play any better than Fred at age 30. lol

Brazil have the better team overall, England pale in comparison.
