Euro 2016 Qualifying

The Ireland, Scotland, Poland, Germany group is ****ing brilliant atm.

It is but it's so predictable that the Germans will do enough to qualify automatically along with the Poles and Scotland and Ireland will be left slugging it out for a playoff place which is shit. Given we're practically on the plane, your in a great position, even Northern Ireland have got a great chance to take advantage of Greece being beyond terrible. It'd be great if Scotland and Ireland managed to get through as well.

We're the only team on 12 points...

Yet apparently we're one of the worst international teams that have ever existed according to some lol

England usually do well when it comes to the qualification stages - unfortunately, the tournament phases in recent years have been an entirely different chapter.

Where as Switzerland always set the place alight.

Still wouldn't be surprised if it is only England from the home nations that qualifies.

Saying that, i expect Wales to qualify and with their squad on paper, not doing so would be under achieving.

I'd be surprised if only one of us gets through, especially if you consider ROI a "home" nation.

Think one of us, NI or the jocks will qualify.

I think we're there if we take four points off Israel.

Wales have got the players, I think this probably Wales best chance to qualify for anything however I fear for them they'll probably f**k it up somehow same for the other british nations apart from England of course. Out of the other home nations i hope Northern Ireland and Wales qualify been a very long time for them both.

Having looked at the fixture list for our (Norn Iron) group, it would not surprise me to see a late surge from Greece to seal 2nd.

We usually scrape our way through, then lose out to Argentina after ET.

So like England in the 90's and 00's :P

If the qualifying ended now, the Euro 2016 tournament would look like this:

Czech Republic

Iceland

Israel

Wales

Slovakia

Spain

Poland

Germany

England

Slovenia

Romania

Northern Ireland

Austria

Sweden

Croatia

Italy

Denmark

Portugal

Scotland

and then four of Hungary, Norway, Ukraine, Russia, Albania, Netherlands, Switzerland & Cyprus.

Long way to go obviously, but that would be a fascinating tournament!

WTF's happening in Italy, load of flare and smoke bombs? Being lobbed on the pitch?

It's all kicking off.

There were a couple of hundred Croatian fans who didn't buy tickets for the away sector, mingling with the Italians instead at first, then heading over to join the rest of their flock.

That small part was also highly likely to be involved in fascist chants (referring to the notorious Ustasa in some cases, for instance).

If you want to believe the Croatian version, the vast majority of their fans were there to protest against the influence of Dinamo Zagreb's president Zdravko Mamic on the local football scene.

Apparently, he holds key influence with the Croatian Football Federation, he's said to be destroying the club bit by bit, criminalizing the biggest part of their fan scene (he's banned the BBB from all matches and now they're playing in front of a few hundred spectators), harrassing football fans in general (home and away) and favouring his entourage, giving away tickets to his loyal supporters, friends and family instead.

No..

You usually don't progress out of the group stage of a major tournament, you have twice in 6 major tournaments progressed out of the group stage of a major tournament.

Don't try and kid yourself, kid.

There were more then a couple of hundred in the Italy end. They were everywhere and quite unashamedly so. Flags and shirts on display as they walked in. You can see a few of them milling about here.. c0731f8b89a6e211a319bcada6136911.jpg

Then there was the more er... 'opinionated' type in with us.. 91de9c5052b3cc25f7ef21286f6af61f.jpg

The security was none existent. But it wasn't those that caused it, it was the large concentrations of Croats up in the gods on either side.

To say the Serbian authorities controlled their fans admirably must an awful wind-up. And there's no way the stadium was safe enough afterward for either the players, the fans, or the police, or that the players were focused enough to continue.

I'll say it again: what was going on on the pitch was hardly any royal rumble until the Serbian fans got out on the pitch. And by the end of it, the two sides had stopped fighting and the Serbian players were even protecting their opponents from the fans.

The Serbian fans were behaving so poorly up until that point--bad enough that they could have gotten their FA slapped with penalties even without the post-drone nonsense. But now we have to excuse everything because they were "offended" by a flag.

Serbian fans invaded the pitch and assaulted Albanian players, which is more than enough justification for Serbia to forfeit that game, so I think this ruling is a disgrace. And if known hooligan provocateurs with criminal records can brazenly cause trouble in Serbia during a Euro qualifier, then UEFA can have no confidence that Serbia will "control" their fans in the near future.

I would feel bad for the Serbian players (who by and large kept cool heads and were disgusted by their fans' behavior) if any penalties hurt them, but I would shed no tears for Serbian fans and the Serbian FA.

Reading the absolute anti-Serbism SHIT that you have written in this thread has completely made my blood boil.

It's no secret that Americans have a hidden agenda against Serb, bombing the **** out of our people, committing war crimes under Clinton and Bush. It was never a two-sided show was it.

Anyway, beyond your hidden George Bush fuelled agenda, let's actually look at what went on against Albania. Firstly, your unjustifiable excuse of Serb fans behaviour prior to the 'pitch invasion' is wholly laughable. Racial chanting in a match of this context was to be expected and could never be avoided, I think the Serbian FA had it's arse bent over and ready with cash in hand ready to give to UEFA before a ball was even kicked. But for you to use this as an excuse for our points deduction is crazy.

The simple point being, NO drone, NO trouble. If Albania players don't react when the drone is pulled down, NO pitch invasion. These are stone cold FACTS, whether you like that or not. Albania refused to continue when the referee insisted the game could be continued. How we can be deducted points is farcical when the root cause was not our fault.

Believe me, the crowd control was adequate enough, you really don't understand the severity of the drone and it's message. With poorer crowd control, there would have been a full pitch invasion and a massacre of anybody wearing Albanian shirts.

UEFA also have a clear bias against us. Our match abandonment vs Italy was not too dissimilar to Croatia at Italy last week. Look at the difference in punishment. Says it all.

Your point being? Any match between Serbia/Croatia/Bosnia/Albania/Turkey there will always be incidences of chanting between both sets of fans. Come back when you know how to use capital letters and full stops.
