But surely if we've already bid up to £10m for him we wouldn't need to be 'scouting' him any more?

double checking ahead of a larger bid?

Nah, we were there looking to strengthen our wide options. Turns out they've got a pacy left winger with a goalscoring knack.Think his name is Lloyd someone.

I actually wish this would be put to bed now. We don't need Deeney. I don't think he's worth anywhere near what Twatford are wanting. And we need players in other positions IMO.

Just got him on FIFA 14 for 1.8 million so it just proves it can happen for the price you ent!

Would you consider joining our transfer negotiating team, please?

Sorry but thracian is on the same stuff as when he used to opine about the abilities of porter. Schlupp can run fast.that is his only for footballing ability. Every single time he makes contact with a football it could end up anywhere. His defensive positioning is absolutely awful too.

So Balotelli is going for £16 million and Watford want £12 million for Deeney.  Hhhhmmmm, think we should hijack Liverpool's attempts myself.

Cool... so long as you make up the 70k a week shortfall in wages!!!! lol

It's fine Babs..Mario has said that he is willing to play for us for 30k per week.  The thought of playing up front with Nuge instead of Sturridge swayed it.

Being serious though..Is it not staggering how much Watford can demand for Deeney, when a younger International striker who has scored goals at the very top level with his best years ahead of him is only going for £4 million more.

Like that time he set Knockaert up at Watford? No skill at all there.

It's not as black and white as that.

There's how long is left on the contract to consider.

Whether the club want to sell or not. AC Milan do, Watford don't so in this case Watford will only sell if a club meet their value, if no one bids that they are happy to keep him.

But still i think the valuation of Deeney is a little high, but it all stems from the McCormack signing. Championship clubs are using that as a bench mark for their valuations,

Personally i like ther idea that more of the prem's TV money  trickles down to the champ... Also, don't forget Deeney is English so that's a bump in price right there...

spot on this! Also, with all the money that prem teams get from TV now, the only way championship teams can keep up (especially with the strict ffp regulations) is by putting massive price tags on their star players. Can totally understand why they do it. If we were still in the championship we would want decent fees for our top players!

I get what you're saying but Balotelli is arguably worth alot more than £16m but Milan are obviously willing to take a loss on him just to get rid of him. He transfered to Milan for £19m only 18 months ago and has probably got better as a player which would probably make him worth in today's market about £25m. Liverpool are getting a good deal, if they can sort him out (if that's even possible). Back to Deeney, and as its been said before, he is Watford's best player and they don't want to lose him so they put £12m on him to put teams off and if someone does stump up £12m then they're laughing and can pretty much rebuild their team with that money!
