shade Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Gratitude v Money.. Only ONE winner mate!! matt le tissier?
Spiritwalker Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Sounds like an agent at work trying to get his man a move. Fair point about players using the press to be all PR savvy but I am sure by now Deeney would have put a request in if he really did want to go (not even any rumours of unhappiness) Of course he might feel some gratitude to the fact we kept him despite the criminal conviction which is why there hasn't been any fuss created. I always find it amusing when fans think agents are doing 'this that and the other' without a players instruction.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 If he wants to leave. We will get him. QPR seem happy with remy and I think he will be happy to stay so they don't need someone else. No other club will offer 10-12m for him as it is about double his real worth. After losing 3-0 at the weekend I expect a transfer request sooner rather than later.
Callabinho Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 I think one would need to look at Deeney's Intsagram/Twitter to see how he really feels about the club. He's quite vocal, and having just been made club captain he should be pretty aware of his future. As for what the Sky Sports report says about him agreeing to stay on after the play-off final, he actually extended his contract until 2016 some months before then... Don't be so naive, he's hardly going to express the fact he (if he) wants to leave is he?

You are probably right but we shall wait with baited breath
Izzet is God Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 If we sign Deeney, I for one will be disappointed. IMO we don't need him, he isn't worth the asking price and I think we can get better elsewhere. I just want the saga to end and Watford either accept a bid or tell us he's not for sale. Deeney is not worth £10 - £12 million.
suffolk fox Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Agree with others we dont want or need bloody deeney i for one will be extremely peed off if we pay ten mill for that donkey. I am certain there are better players out there. Would rather we spend ten million and get Slimani. At least he has played in the world cup.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 I don't think we need a proper centre forward. If we get a striker, like Nige suggested, I would go with someone who can play CF or can play wide in a forward three.

Good god, if he's a donkey I dread to think what the 3 strikers we currently have up front are, as none of them were close the getting the amount of goals deeney did last season.
jammie82uk Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Could be Harry redknapp just being Harry redknapp but the thing that struck me when he was asked about deeney is that he would like him but Watford wanted too much for him For someone like him to say it but we are still seemingly chasing him quite hard puts a bit of doubt on it but then again that is what he probably wants

Ross Mcormack scored more goals but I wouldn't want him either. Let's not forget this was the Championship. For all Deeneys goals, it really helped Watford didn't it? They were ace last season I think not? For the money we could certainly get better. For what it is worth I rate Nugent, Ulloah and Wood over him. First time I saw him I said who is that pub player playing for them? Added to that, I wouldn't want to give arrogant, up themselves Watford anything their fans, club ethos and everything about them stinks.

What has £10 mil brought into the prem this summer in the way of strikers? A Nigerian international to WBA that is unproven in English football and at premiership level. And your telling me you'd take some one like that over a player that's scored almost 50 goals in English football in the last two seasons? Or Shane long for £12 mil and scored 5/6 goals in the prem last season. Give me deeney any day.
weller54 Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 You never know, Deeney might fancy a bit of Fanni???

Right so because Deeney's 24 goals last season didn't get Watford promoted it reflects on how good a player he is. And you're saying Watford are a crap side, so Deeney must be crap.... I see it the other way, Deeney outscored all our strikers last season, in a mediocre team, so if he can get 24 goals for them, with the amount of chances we created last season he probably would've got more for us. In the Prem you need to take your chances, so we need goal scorers, and if we can bring someone in that has scored over 45 goals in their last two season it will strengthen our strike force. As for saying you hate Watford, us buying Deeney will piss them off massively as they don't want to sell him, and it will mean they'll struggle without him. I don't know why i'm even responding to your comment if you describe him as a pub player.
ealingfox Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Did nobody see this then? http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/9426222? Sky Sports understands reports that Leicester City have had a third bid for Watford striker Troy Deeney rejected are wide of the mark. Reports emanating from the Midlands claim Leicester have offered £10 million, rising to £12 million, for Deeney However, contrary to reports, Sky Sports has learnt that Leicester have only tabled one bid of £6.5m which was rejected by Watford. Think this sounds about right for a few reasons, any further links were more likely to be a smokescreen or some clown stirring shit.

Bamba's Babes Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Only the one bid has gone in and that was about 3/4 weeks ago? I think our interest has cooled.
Guest Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Only the one bid has gone in and that was about 3/4 weeks ago? I think our interest has cooled. And Watford/agents are trying desperately to ramp up the price for him to move somewhere
Jace Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I'd like Deeney here but in all honesty who do you drop? Ulloas doing well Nugent had a great pre season, Vardy brilliant last season, Wood always delivers, GTF takes his chances and we've signed Barmby aswell we must have more depth up front than most Premiership teams already
Finnegan Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Having seen Ulloa, if Wood is sticking around, I'd much rather we sign someone with Vardy levels of pace and energy than another big lad. If Slimani is both then great but otherwise not fussed. I think with a tad more pace, essentially Vardy, up front on Saturday we'd have genuinely worried them.

He could be out of his depth at a higher level, but I guess we would have to take that risk, should we sign him. The problem is, that proven Premiership strikers are not readily available, and if they were, we would probably have to pay more than double the price for one. We have the money to splash, but we really don't want to waste it, and Pearson is well aware of that. Could be an interesting week!
mozartfox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 For the sake of pure comparison, Man U 'apparently' paid Palace 10M for Wilfried Zaha? He is 21 and scored 12 goals in 110 appearances for Palace. Some food for thought when trying to establish what Deeney 'may' be worth in todays crazy market place. Watford may need to cash in as personally, I cannot see them being in the mix this season. They could well end up with a 'Maynard' on their hands.
sylofox Posted 19 August 2014 Posted 19 August 2014 Ross Mcormack scored more goals but I wouldn't want him either. Let's not forget this was the Championship. On the flip side without Deeneys goals they may have gone down. (No Fanni jokes please)
