Finnaldo Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 They'll be a new face in midfield in by the end of the week I can feel it. *DISCLAIMER* I am indeed a IDK
m4DD0gg Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Purely my opinion but we need the following: Zaha on loan - if anyone can sort him out Pearson can, add some pace down the wing for the last 20 minutes of games. Cambiasso - if he shit fair enough but i think other players and teams will think hmm they aint bad after all and certainly raise our profile, if he decent then great plus we get the first bit too. Rhodes - cloud cukoo land signing but i rate him. RB/LB - not sure who but someone who can challenge RDL and konch. If we can survive i believe the calibre of players we will be able to attract next year will be of better potential.....on the flip side of that staying up or even mid table almost certainly means goodbye to some of the players that got us there (Liam Moore in particular - can see him replacing that feeble excuse of a CB Jagielka in the england back 2 at some point) and perhaps even Pearson.
Merging Cultures Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Middle of the pitch is sorted now. We don't need McArthur. Do we have any wingers lined up? Ideally fast ones. We have the skilful ones, now we need someone who can scare defenders with pace. A striker (Dame?) to replace GTF and a RB to challenge RDL. Still a lot of business to do in just a couple of days.
MGLCFC Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Still think McArthur may arrive - If so I think Hammond will leave, probably to Reading If we do sign two strikers (N'Daye and Waris on loan) then I can see GTF been allowed to leave and maybe Chris Wood loaned out There could well be a new full back too, probably a loanee from Europe. 5 new faces with 3 leaving - I think we'd still be under 25 registered players!

I think Warris would be used as a winger imo.
Tielemans63 Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 If we were to add N'Doye and McArthur that would be class but I'd be a bit alarmed if we didn't bring in any FB cover. Another winger would be ideal too but FB is critical imho.

Lloyd Dyer??
theessexfox Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I reckon the two new signings look to be a RB and a striker, in which case I feel we're a little light on the wings... 3 genuine wingers and one versatile player who can player there, half of whom won't be with us in January.

And of the remaining two who will be with us, one seems to have injury problems and the other is wildly inconsistent. Think we should bid for Puncheon, apparently Burnley have done.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Am I alone in suggesting Puncheon isn't really very good. Sure, he has the odd game or two where he looks great, but he's another player that doesn't seem to stick around for any length of time at any one club. That usually tells me that successive managers don't really fancy them very much. I don't think he's any better than what we have already. I still think it's a shame that we haven't pushed the boat out to get a really good player at the club. Cambi could be that player but I mean someone who would come in and clearly push things on. I suppose it's all the aforementioned factors.. Wages, our current standing (perceived size of club) etc. Though he has mixed reviews, I'd love to see someone like Wellbeck join us. I think he'd be great for City. And I think we missed the boat somewhat over Michael Dawson. With this type of player, it's not usually until you see them playing that you realise just how good they actually are.

I think as it stands we have 3 genuine wingers being Mahrez, Knoky and Albrighton. But it seems we have Schlupp as a left wing option so that could be our 4 wingers. Leaves Jell backing up both LB and LW. So unless one of the RB's can also cover LB it is LB with the least cover.
