teblin Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I would say se need some one in each area. A defender that can play full back or CB. (maybe even a CB and a fullback) A centre Midfielder A forward that can play through the middle or wide.
Nick Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I disagree with people saying we don't need another striker. It's about the formation options we want to play home and away. GTF, Hopper, Schlupp et al are simply not going to cut it at this level in the striker role, if Ulloa and Vardy/Nugent get injured. They are squad back up in this position to either get experience or close out a game we are winning. We need a 'shoe in' for the big centre forward 'one up front man' - hence the search for a 'Deeney, Slimani, Almeida' character. In other positions there is little point buying players as 'cover' we have 'cover' - we need quality additions to compete for places that are hard to source, hence the struggle to sign RB, LB, CB, DM.
Hack Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 More fluffers!! Enough with the Fluffers joke. It lost it's humour 20 Fluffers ago.

Completely disagree over Schlupp. For me, we look more fragile on the right than the left. I have a feeling Konch will be ok this season too. Against Everton I thought he looked very composed. It appears that Pearson isn't focussing much on the left back situation. Suggests to me he's quite happy with our options there. RDL, supported by Knockaert concerns me more.

Tom's Pasta Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 A quality midfielder, a quality defender and a quality striker in that order of priority
MGLCFC Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 A quality midfielder, a quality defender and a quality striker in that order of priority Almost agree - would rather have a quality winger than another striker, someone like Redmond.
sphericalfox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 4 months ago! That's ruined my cheerleading cheer!
lgfualol Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I dont think we need any additions. We have powerhouses that can beat players with skill and pace like Gary Taylor Fletcher and Bakayogo.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I would say that what we need is less agents.
Giggsy77 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 NP as surprised me with his persistence with the Cambiasso deal, however, other teams are signing players left, right and centre but we cant seem to get any deals over the line. Cant help but feel we are left behind a little but have faith in who we have currently, why are any deals we do complicated?. Tom Carroll as gone Swansea, Leroy Fer QPR etc. Surely we should be looking at these kind of players.
Happy Fox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Manchester United will let Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Wilfried Zaha go ON LOAN in a shock move by Louis van Gaal. The Dutchman has assessed the young English trio and decided he wants them to go out for regular Premier League football before deciding whether he wants to use them long-term. News of the decision flashed round the Premier League grapevine yesterday as interested clubs formed a queue for striker Welbeck, midfielder Cleverley and winger Zaha. Van Gaal does not want to write off the players and thinks they would benefit from spell at rival teams in a typically decisive move by the straight-talking manager. Welbeck has been a target for Hull - as Mirror Sport revealed - but they have now looked elsewhere. Sunderland would also like him for a second loan spell. Cleverley was on Everton's hit list but that moment may have passed. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is immediately on red alert for him. Zaha is fancied by old club Crystal Palace, Newcastle and QPR. He has been told by van Gaal that he has a future at Old Trafford and will only be sold if he wants to be. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-rumours-live-mario-4087999#ixzz3B7ql1fpA Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
David Guiza Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Even if that is true, the only player we'd stand any chance on would be Zaha in my opinion. Wellbeck would get into a team like Spurs, Everton and Cleverly also.
conLAD logan Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Welbeck and cleverly would be a dream duo at the club. Always felt they aren't truly treated right or appreciated at man utd especially Welbeck, if hull can afford similar signings I don't see how we can't. A loan is surely possible
Nick Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 All three would solve some problems but I'm sure that's not allowed and pretty certain we couldn't match their wages.
conLAD logan Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Apparently they don't want any of them going on loan to rivals for top four, so could that mean we have a chance or is it more of the teams like Southampton, Swansea and hull etc?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Versatile Defender, Holding Midfielder, Winger, Striker. Chances of them all happening are incredibly slim though so priorities are the first two.
EGBFitness Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 STRENGTH IN FUCCKKKKKIINGGG DEPTTHHHHH Definitely!! Sticking GTF in the middle of the park is not going to help us! Really it bothered about Cambiasso as I've previously said, we have a good team spirit here and think he could be a disruption and not promising signs from a player when there's little progress. Get a few decent young lads in that can provide good back-up, want to make and name for themselves and want to play for the team
dpjfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 we urgently need cover for Drinky/James, although Hammond/King have done well, an injury to either of them and were really stretched, possibly less urgent is another striker and defender although rumours suggest we are actively looking
