Bamba's Babes Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 We have just played our first Premier League game in a decade; we have debated all summer what players we'd like to sign, which players can make the step up and which won't be good enough. Now we have foundation for our beliefs, our theories have been proven and disproven. So, I ask you, now that we have witnessed this team in the EPL, who and why should we buy? ---- My opinion: LB - If we're not going to play Schlupp at left back and instead use him as our fourth wide player then I think we desperately need a new left back. This is the first time I have clamoured for a signing in this position as previously I had been hoping that Schlupp would fill that role and Konchesky would be decent back-up but with Konchesky starting I despair. I don't have a replacement in mind, I'll leave that to the scouts. CM - I think we need a defensive midfielder, someone to stand in the whole where the number ten likes to sit. Cambiasso is the obvious choice here (not sure if you've heard but we're interested...) Leroy Fer is another one I wouldn't mind. I think King can play at the point of midfield if selected. Drinkwater and James are both capable. Hammond did well vs Everton but he is not a long term option. ST - This is a tough one. We've got numbers up front but do we have quality? Ulloa is the main man, especially if he continues to score. Vardy will be hustle and bustle and will create opportunities for others but will he actually score enough himself? Wood has been hit and miss and Nugent needs to be more clinical, currently he needs 3 chances to score and that won't be allowed at this level. Deeney would have been nice but for 10-12M Watford can swing. Slimani looked good at the World Cup but his record doesn't jump off the sheet. Wickham we could possibly get for 6-7M which would be good business. Winger - With Lloyd leaving we lack another pacey option. I think over the course of the season and definitely with the prospect of us losing Mahrez and Schlupp for the AFON in January we could do with some cover. My choice would be Nathan Redmond.

Went to the game and just watched the whole game again on Sky - thought Konchesky's defending and distribution was excellent.
Rushden fox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Went to the game and just watched the whole game again on Sky - thought Konchesky's defending and distribution was excellent. Agreed..I like to see schlupp further forward..we need an attacking midfielder
Stadt Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 A left back that can play comfortably at right back. Konchesky, despite playing well today, can't play every week and I wouldn't him to even if he could. Schlupp's mental game isn't good enough, unfortunately. Cambiasso. A quick right footed winger. Loan centre half.
kingfox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 CB(Loan) RB/LB CM(Cambiasso) ST(Slimani) Maybe a winger on loan as well.
Mark_w Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Not much at all. We just got a point against the side that finished 5th last year and we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves. On the evidence of today we'll pick up enough points in games with sides outside the top 7 to survive. Especially when we get the five injured players back. We might need some cover in the short term if any of the injuries are at all serious, but otherwise I think we're fine.
LCFC FOX Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Cambiasso, Slimami/Wickham/Deeney, Powell and Kyle Naughton would do
Stadt Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 It's cover that we need, a better left back wouldn't go amiss though
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Cambiasso, Slimami/Wickham/Deeney, Powell and Kyle Naughton would do 3 more strikers
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 We need cover for right and left back 2 x central midfielders to cope with Injury's 1 x pacey winger and 1 x striker at most I'd dabble in the loan market for a central defender but what a game wes and Moore had
RizLCFC Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 LB Winger Cambiasso Wickham/Deeney/Slimani (in that order)
dedlock Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 How about the right side of defence and midfielld ?.Although we improved after half time we were vulnerable in that area
TheUltimateWinner Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Need competition in these places: RB (No one challenging De Laet atm) LB (Konchesky will need a replacement soon, did well today, but needs competition, and at 33 won't be a long term option) CM (Who do we put on the bench if James & Drinky are injured?) RW/LW (PACE HOPEFULLY)
lgfualol Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 A new RB for definite, we only have one proper one, and De Laet usually pulls a hamstring or something if he plays a lot. We simply cannot play Wasyl or Moore there for Premiership games. New CM - if James and Drinky are out then who else have we got for the bench? Cain and McCourt? Schlupp looked good at LW today and is awesome going forward (albeit that shot). I think we should get another LB and winger anyway to prevent any possible cluster****s of injuries/suspensions leaving us out of players. I think we do not need to get a striker as urgently. Slimani would be good, or someone like Delort for cheap.
TrentFox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 More players !! Seriously! We are really short on numbers. A couple of injuries away from it being desperate !!
Danno Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 In order of priority A holding midfielder (Cambiasso, Fer, Cork) A left back (No idea) A centre back (someone on loan) And a striker (Deeney, Slimani, Wickham)
JJS84 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Went to the game and just watched the whole game again on Sky - thought Konchesky's defending and distribution was excellent. Yeah completely dis agree with the OP, thought konch was very good today, seemed to have plenty of time, always knew what he wanted to do with the ball, all round solid game. RDL had a bit of a mare today and he did in the game against Bremen, not sure if it's nerves or of he's just not good enough, but a back up / competition maybe required. I'd say also a CB, just because we're a bit thin if someone gets injured. And a utility mid / winger, if possible someone who can play across the middle. NP claimed he wanted 1-2 more, fingers crossed that might be 3.
casablancas Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 A full back predominantly right but adequate to cover left. One of the young Chelsea lads would do me Ake/Zouma Another utility winger ... I think knocky may struggle at times. Like the look of Oar at the World Cup Thinking Lestafan will shore up our midfield. And that's do me I think.
kingfox Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 With us being short at CB, just three in the Premier League is not enough. We were linked with Lyon's Milan Bisevac a while back, wouldn't surprise me if we go for him...
STUHILL Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Surprised so many aren't mentioning desperate need for a RB?? More priority than LB in my opinion as we have Konch and Schlupp there although I do agree, perhaps Schlupp will be used more as a winger Only De Laet is recognised RB and can be hit or miss too so a strong RB is needed CM required although I thought King and Hammond were great today but Cambiasso would be very nice! Letting Dyer go doesn't seem the best decision, considering we haven't done that much business and so i think a winger with pace is also required. One of the main problems for newly promoted sides is scoring enough goals and although Wood did well today and we have Vardy to come back, I still think we need another good striker. To summarise..... RB, LB, CM, ST and also a CB to cover for injuries to our main guys. I think will be a case of a few loan deals when the top Prem teams decide to trim their squads
Leicester_Loyal Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 I think we'll get two perm signings and two loanees. One perm will be cambiasso and a striker. Two loanees will be a CM and a versatile player who can fill in across the back line.
