Dan Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 http://www.itv.com/news/2014-09-09/qpr-threatened-with-relegation-to-conference/ I can't see it happening but it's worth a thread.
Fox92 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I still don't understand FFP. Like, how can Manchester City and PSG still go out and spend millions? Can they "clear/buy" the debt themselves?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 After all we've been through, it's my middle name - 'Fight It' Fernandes. wot
Stadt Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I still don't understand FFP. Like, how can Manchester City and PSG still go out and spend millions? Can they "clear/buy" the debt themselves? They would have just payed the fine
Guest kristianity77 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Why do FFP fines go to charity? Surely money like that should be put back into the game, spread around league 1 and league 2 clubs or something.
Fox92 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 They would have just payed the fine Oh yeah, course. Still think it's a load of rubbish. For clubs like Manchester City, they aren't effected because they'll always be able to pay the find. It's club like QPR who do the same thing but won't be able to pay the fine. Not condemning it of course.
Harry - LCFC Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Far too great a punishment. A large points deduction would suffice. As much as I dislike what they've done it simply wouldn't be fair to drop them down that far.
Dan Posted 9 September 2014 Author Posted 9 September 2014 Fines aren't the way forward to be honest. As Fox92 says, Man City/PSG have enough money to take the piss and then pay the fine to go with it. Hit them where it hurts - ban them from European competition etc... But they won't do that because as wrong as it is, punishing clubs like them would be biting the hand that feeds them, to a degree. Far too great a punishment. A large points deduction would suffice. As much as I dislike what they've done it simply wouldn't be fair to drop them down that far. To be honest if QPR are the club they make an example of that they mean business then I'll have no complaints. They've been the biggest joke club in the country in this regard for years.
davieG Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Perhaps it should be pro rata £60m = Championship £40m = League 1 £20m = League 2 £10m = Conference Tantamount to a points v £££££s deduction
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 It's not even worth a discussion with Tony "Fight It" Fernandes at the helm at Loftus Road
Super_horns Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 http://www.itv.com/news/2014-09-09/qpr-threatened-with-relegation-to-conference/ I can't see it happening but it's worth a thread. Feel its a veiled threat - to get them to pay up. Now they have said such a thing though the pressure will be on the authorities to act fi QPR fail to pay their fine.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Why does Redknapp have a face like a Yorkshire pudding that failed to rise ?
Leicesterpool Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Wish it was true but nah it would never happen to one of their beloved London clubs
One Legged Beaver Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Thought this was going to be a thread about Redknapp being about to sign an extension to his contract.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Wish it was true but nah it would never happen to one their beloved London club Demand everyone to read this aloud in their best Chinese accent and try not to howl.
AKCJ Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Why do FFP fines go to charity? Surely money like that should be put back into the game, spread around league 1 and league 2 clubs or something. Would only further increase the problem. It'd be like using petrol to put out a fire.
GingerrrFox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 If someone fights it, FFP will never stand up in court. It's a restriction of trade. Simple.
Sir Fynwy Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 If someone fights it, FFP will never stand up in court. It's a restriction of trade. Simple. When £40m is at stake any team will fight it, even if you spend similar amounts on lawyers
Guesty Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 It's unlikely, but I guess it depends how serious they are about FFP. If they want to make an example out of QPR and 'Fight it' I'm all for it. Will make sure everyone else pays up in the future.
Leicesterpool Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I think a points deduction is more likely
Guest Bilo Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 As much as I would laugh my bollocks off, it's not going to happen.
Super_horns Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I think a points deduction is more likely They would have got that had they not won at Wembley..
Guest Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Really wish they hadn't been promoted and then they could face it now. The only reason they managed promotion was because they paid players so much. Relegated teams should have a clause which forces sale of players if they're over the limit. All players should have a clause in their contract of a choice of sale or forced percentage wage reduction on relegation.
