Rory to Garcia when discussing that approach "yeah er just get it up there" as if it was the easiest task in the world lol

well we'll bloody well take that. threw a few halves away this morning but robbed one back there. great golf under pressure eventually from the best two players in the cup

nice! 3.5 - 0.5 in the afternoon, including a great finish to comeback in the one we didn't win, so good it almost felt like a win anyway.

roll on tomorrow

Poulter finally shits the bed at the Ryder Cup, USA puts together a decent morning round, and we're still down after Friday. You bastards. :(

I can't wait to go back to not caring about golf.

I must admit, I have never enjoyed playing or watching golf, just found it boring. No critic on skills of the game.

The Ryder-cup though has always been another kettle of fish.A real top class sporting event.Atmosphere brilliant, the twists and turns through the competition, the Sunday games often leaves the best to last. The skill, but more than anything watching players handle the mental stress, and sometimes 1stly submitting to it, then during the round getting on top of it, then holding the nerve.Team tactics really doesnt come into it even in the foursomes, its how the individual finds the right form and finds that peak of his own potential under pressure.

Interesting Ryder Cup day for sure, Europe on top 5-3 which didnt look likely at one point.

Its been a tale of two captains IMO, one is doing a great job, the other I have no idea whats going on.

McGinley has come up with some inspired pairings. Rose and Stenson are going to play all 5 you would think and look formiddable. The way Westwood and McDowell gelled with rookies Donaldson and Dubuisson was inspired too, on a tough afternoon for foursomes. Rory and Sergio dug as deep as they could for a half thats as big as a point in momentum terms.

Some of Watson's captaincy has been bizarre. First of all, USA were riding the crest of a wave for a while in the morning, but leaving out Speith and Reid from the foursomes didnt make much sense. For one, they were playing brilliantly which surely would have transferred to the alternate shot format. But they had also gelled brilliantly as a pair. They had control of the ball, perfect for foursome and had only played 13 holes.

Mickelson & Bradley as a foursome? Worked ok at Medinah where there was no rough, but neither Phil or Bradley can keep it on the short grass, and they cant score from the rough. Couple that with the fact that theyd just come off a draining fourball match, surely at least Phil needed a rest? if not both of them?

Watson now has his "foursome" specialists like Furyk, Mahan and Kuchar now playing fourballs on saturday, with Mickelson sitting out. So im not sure whats going on there. He needed to give Simpson a rest, he was well off colour, but its all a bit strange.

The USA need a big saturday morning, or they are in deep, deep trouble.

10-6 at the end of day two, that's a familiar score. Hopefully we won't do what they did two years ago!

No sings whatsoever from the US that will happen. Many, many out of form players.

This is spot on. Absolutely spot on.

Watson dropping Spieth and Reed was the start of their decline. Even doing something as simple putting them two out instead of Mickelson and Bradley could have changed the entire way this has gone.

Mahan has looked in good form and Bubba and Kuchar ran into the Rose & Stenson steam train yesterday so they might cause a few problems. Particularly Kuchar against Bjorn who has looked off form.

I think the US will come out firing and this will be a lot closer than some imagine.

anyone else slightly upset it's all been so routine? i think the best part about last time was that those daft old americans thought they had it won and then lost it. it was obvious we'd won this one before a ball was even hit.

still nice to beat them assholes tho.

Another great watch, not as good as two years ago but it would take a serious amount of effort by both teams to top the Miracle of Medinah.

Great shot by Donaldson to nail the win, to kick Bradley's arse as well was even more joyful.

Rose the best player for me over the three days, that shot earlier in the day when he was in a bush & somehow dug it out to get it about three feet from the hole, was exceptional.

Reed's attitude was annoying, but he was probably the best American player, had no fear & was pumped throughout.

I agree with most of that, I think we quite simply outclassed the yanks over all 3 days.

If you're a golf fan you should watch the US's press conference. Mickelson completely threw Watson under the bus in front of everyone. Whilst Watson did make some bad decisions it was completely embarrassing and unnecessary.

Seems to have backfired on him as US commentators are saying his attitude is exactly why they are always losing. Some are even saying he's been so out of order that he might have cost himself the the chance to captain the the US team in the future.

A great win for Europe, and captian McGinley. The USA will most certainly regroup when you look at the sheer depth of US talent on tour and those that werent present who will come back. But Europe were exemplary over the 3 days with Rose leading the line, Donaldson and Dubuisson looked instantly comfortable and took to the Ryder Cup so well.

I feel sorry for Patrick Reed, and the idiot who heckled him on the first tee. That was most uncalled for, and something we do not want to see in the Ryder Cup. He played fantastically well over the 3 days and with Jordan Speith, can come out of this Ryder Cup with his head held high.

And i feel sorry for Tom Watson too. Of course he made mistakes with some of his pairings, but the way he has been hung out to dry hasnt been fair on him. He can only do so much, and for senior players like Bubba Watson, Keegan Bradley, Zach Johnson to contribute so little isnt his fault. Hes bound to have some regrets, but Mickelson could have kept his opinions in house. Its odd for someone like that to have such a strong opinion, its not usually in his character.

The next Ryder Cup is in Hazeltine, Minnesota.

I cant help but feel the USA "miss a trick" when selecting courses to host Ryder Cups. The USA choose major venues, rather than regular tour venues. Celtic Manor has been used regularly for the Wales Open, Gleneagles has been used regularly for the Johnnie Walker Championship, and Paris National of course for the French Open.

But the USA seem to favour "major venues", the likes of Hazeltine, Medinah, Valhalla amongst others to host the matches. Cant help but feel this nullifies their home advantage somewhat.

All in all, a very good 3 days for European golf

just seen some of the post match stuff from the americans. mickelson wtf lol. has he lost it?

Looked like it . I was quite embarrassed for Watson as a true gentleman of sport but I think he may emerge with his dignity intact as Mickelson was completely out of order and Tom kept his cool. Might be a different reaction back in the states though - they lack patience and compassion for losers and someone will have to carry the can
