Board Games (Not Scrabble or Snakes and Ladders)

The relationship game they are making is the worst thing I've ever seen but somehow Mark the Aussie is keeping them in it! Can't see them winning it though.

I've been playing a few recently, more 1 on 1 tactical games like Avalon and Pont del Diablo.

Never really played any Risk type games, but I love the classics like scrabble and othello.

Most random game I've played though is Ubi, the board was a map split up into hexagons with triangles. The question was just clues to a location and to answer you put a marker over a hexagon highlighting one triangle in the hexagon. If you get the right location you get points.

Good night at La Vida. Played a new game. forget what it was called atm. You took different coloured counters to bur cards and in turn bought other cards with points on. first to 15 won.

Also played Fluxx to finish up. The rules are a bit all over the place. It is possible to win by accident. Played a icture card game where you describe it and others guess which card it was from others put in the middle.(Dixit)

Come down one week if anyone is interested and in Leicester. The people there do not leave you hanging about and will always find an extra seat for newcomers.

For the  Scrabble lover(s) they also have a Rebus version according to the inventory/

I used play Epic, but then they fvcked around with rules and made it shit, started playing Necromunda, and thought the Dark Eldar were pretty cool models, so bought a load of them and painted them, then I went to college and found other social activities to waste my money on.

It's a bit like social networking these days, people are losing the art of communication and conversation and send all their time on facebook etc.

It's funny, I find those are the kinds of people who have the nerve to look down on or take the piss out of nerdy activities.

Oh, you find me spending an evening playing board games with my mates weird? How was your day at home sharing buzzfeed articles and looking after posting photos of your stupid child on facebook?

I also still get judgey looks from my mum when I'm back home (there's rarely anyone around in my village) if I spend a few hours on the computer playing a game and chatting with my mates while she's sat on her arse watching more shitty tv. "Is that all you do? Sit on the computer playing games?" No, **** off, I'm socialising and you're watching some bullshit like I'm a Celebrity.

Like I said, I've stopped caring but it's still irritating.

The child thing gets me, it almost seems as if people she kids to "announce" in Facebook like a new player is announced.

I can tell you for certain that when the little FAB's are hatched and running around there will be zero pics in Facebook/twitter/anything else for the nonces to get off on.

Bought Lost Legacy - The Starship yesterday, a little (actually, A LOT) like Love Letter, but a little more involved. For starters, you don't win by being the player left holding the winning hand. There is also a discard pile in this game known as the ruins, and when the deck runs out - 16 cards, same as Love Letter - starting with the player who has the lowest value card, they have one chance to guess where the Lost Legacy (a starship, which is one of the cards) is; either in another player's hand or one of the cards in the ruins, or maybe even in their own hand. If you are the first to correctly name where it is, you win.

The main difference is that it isn't important to hold onto the Starship/Princess if you get it, just that you know where it is and can be in a position to go first when the deck is gone - assuming you survive that long. I like it, it adds a little more bluffing and tactics to the game. Like Love Letter, games are over quick and you can be eliminated early, but since the games don't last long, it really doesn't matter.

We've played this after a skinfull.

Ludicrous. lol

At our game this weekend, an honourable mention for combo of the night went to Barack Obama preferring the KKK.

But that truly pales in comparison with some of the combos you can Google.

We play that at the games club. It's a;ways good to get Cameron in with something nasty or anyone well known. The way to win at our place is to make it as disgusting and non PC as possible. Sexual references are a bonus.

Oddly enough, might be playing it this evening. Having a session of gaming later, Dominion, Jamaica and Race For The Galaxy all to feature.
