Manwell Pablo Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 We played Scotland though, we weren't playing Celtic.. Pointless chant in my opinion but there we go, save it for Ireland away. It was sung on the probably correct assumption there were a lot of Celtic fans in the ground, the same reason we sang a lot of songs about the referendum.
Grandad. Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 It was sung on the probably correct assumption there were a lot of Celtic fans in the ground, the same reason we sang a lot of songs about the referendum. Assumptions.. Daft. It's like Man United chanting that they hate Scousers yet sing about Wayne Rooney being the 'white Pele'. Songs about the referendum make sense, chanting about the IRA because of the stadium you are in doesn't make sense to me. Still if it pissed the Jocks/IRA off then its good enough for me.

I think consistency is not something you will ever get with football fans. They voted to stay as part of the UK it was their decision so it makes even less sense taken on face value, but it is also on the assumption that there was a lot of no voters present (who, more than likely, probably also supported Celtic and were more likely to have sympathies towards the IRA)
Stadt Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 If I was called Gavin I'd try and wind people up on the internet just to get some attention too.
babylad92 Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 I enjoyed my shit a lot. The thought of celebrating a goal in an International Friendly makes me sick. It's quite sad that you don't see the significance in an England-Scotland match. Unfortunately, it's people like you who have decimated the support we have for England. Am I also correct in assuming you think you're fancy for not singing the anthem? Me myself, I would take it as a privilege to see England play at Wembley even if it is 'just' a friendly, particularly against Scotland. It's a chance to see the youth to show why they deserve a place. Maybe you should search for a documentary of the England-Scotland rivalry to learn a thing or two. Have a good evening, mate.

babylad92 Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 Quoting all that really says it all. I'm quite unsure of all this 'says it all'. I type shorthand text and mods ban me. I type properly and people say 'says it all'. On with it, I suppose.

BlueSi13 Posted 19 November 2014 Posted 19 November 2014 It was at Celtic Park, the virtual spiritual home of the support for the IRA, of course it was going to happen, you wouldn't have heard it at Hampden Park. I'm personally quite offended we've apologised for it, why on earth should we apologise to anyone offended by us singing a song about an organisation that has murdered thousands of British men, women and children in cold blood. Why has no coverage whatsoever been given either to the fact our anthem has been booed again, the usual double standards, England fans boo - 'come on guys, it's 2014, get over it' Scotland fans boo - 'incredible noise and passion from the Scots' Did anyone also notice it was the only song we sang at length that the home crowd didn't boo? Think that says a lot. I bet there a few Celts in the crowd that wanted to but simply didn't have the balls to out themselves as IRA sympathisers in front of the rest of Scotland unlike they could with their own kind on a normal Saturday at the piggery. Sums it up nicely. I'd have loved to have asked the FA and indeed the god-awful England band (whose spokesman's apology read almost as if he was blubbing with shame) who exactly are we apologising to? I also still like how the media are trying to congratulate the Scots for creating a 'fierce' atmosphere
