Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Oh and all the goals he scored and assisted in were " useless" as well eh ? Did I say that? I like Lloyd. As I've said earlier I think he would have been useful for a year, but I don't think he is a long term option in the Premier League. I think we were right to offer him a one year contract, he turned it down so we have to move on. We probably needed a stronger replacement, but giving him a three year deal certainly wasn't and isn't the cause of or answer to our problems.
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 He knew he wasn't wanted hence the one year contract. If he had stayed I have no doubt he would have got in ahead of Schlupp , who in my opinion is not even fit to grace a championship side. Oh and all the goals he scored and assisted in were " useless" as well eh ? I imagine if he'd set the world on fire in the premier league he would have been offered another, longer contract. However even he knew he wasn't that good so decided against it.
ADK Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 We failed to keep Dyer precisely because we weren't willing to hand out Sven-esque long contracts to players who are over 30 (Wes aside). Come on that's clearly rubbish, do you really think Watford are paying him a premier league wage to sit on their bench? Clearly his contract was badly handled. A two year deal would have been perfectly affordable.
ARTY_FOX Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Do you think Schlupp is ? I dont think either are premier league quality wingers. Dyer had great pace and that causes big problems at championship level but in the premier league being fast isn't enough. Defenders are alot better at this level and you need a high degree of quality that unfortunately dyer didn't possess and the same goes for schluup when he's given too much time to think. However schluup can be good when he doesn't have time to think. But no neither are good enough for this division
nettle Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 At least we've got someone to blame now when we go down.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 If you could answer my question that would be great. Ok I will answer your question , presuming it was about how did we get so many points last season ? It was a very poor league and we played to our strengths which at that level worked. He stuck to what we did best and did not tinker around with the set up unlike the previous season. Now here is a question for you how come Burnley and Q.P.R are looking down on us if we were so superior last season ? It was i'm afraid a one season wonder and nothing more . He and the team have been found out big time and he hasn't a clue what to do about it , Where we are in the league tells it's own story. We are at the bottom and two teams who allegedly were so inferior to us sit above. does that answer your question ?
walkerleeds Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 He knew he wasn't wanted hence the one year contract. If he had stayed I have no doubt he would have got in ahead of Schlupp , who in my opinion is not even fit to grace a championship side. Just think about what you're saying for a moment. Dyer was offered a contract which would have made him a footballer for Leicester City for one more season at least. I don't blame him for leaving, he wanted a longer contract and wanted to look after himself I guess. But let's get this straight, if he wasn't wanted, he wouldn't have been offered the contract. Get it?
Corky Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Strange turn of events at Leic, a complete turnaround really given that Robinson was brought in by the owners who were having second thoughts about NP. Seems that Robinson has been made the sacrificial lamb in our current situation. NP appears for now to of got off the hook, but he really has to be made accountable for our poor run of games and his weak tactical knowledge. I really wish some of the truths would come out about NP, common knowledge in football circles but amazingly the fans aren't aware of any of it. Perhaps then we could all say " So thats the true reasons for all this" For me NP should be sacked, pure and simple! Need I say more? As if a sad little WUM like yourself is privy to common knowledge in football circles. You're a poor man's IndyKaila.

Itsthejoeker Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So Perason though Dyer wasn't good enough but thought Schlupp was ? say it all really. Schlupp is 21 and is on par with a 32 yeard old Dyer. I know which one has more room for improvement. Don't you?

Right so luck got us 102 points in the league that countless Leicester managers have failed in. Nigel Pearson is a one hit wonder with a track record of finishing in the top six in the English second tier when he has a full season at a club. QPR who likely spent over £30,000,000 on improving their side are comparable to QPR's side last season, and we having spent £10,000,000 should still be comfortably ahead of them. Burnley have done incredibly well and must be praised for that, I'd suggest it's probably not an entirely fair comparison to make until we're half way through the season after they've played Tottenham, Man City and Liverpool and we've played West Ham, Tottenham and Hull though. Regardless, it's December, we were behind Burnley and QPR at this stage last year and finished quite a way above both of them.
nettle Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 No need to worry now Terry Robinson had gone the only way is up.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Schlupp is 21 and is on par with a 32 yeard old Dyer. I know which one has more room for improvement. Don't you? Shlupp has been heralded as one for the future for as long as he has been with us. First of all he was going to be a great striker with even Man united taking him on loan ( soon sent back ) But no he could not hack it as a striker , then he was put in to the left back position again not good enough for that either. Now he is being used as some sort of winger on the left , again not good enough. He is not going to "improve " to anything like premiership standard and is one of the reasons why we are rock bottom of the league.
ARTY_FOX Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So Perason though Dyer wasn't good enough but thought Schlupp was ? say it all really. When did pearson say that? Also as posted above schluup has time to improve his game dyer is coming to the end of his career. If they can get schluup to stop panicking every time he's given the time and space to think about what he's doing and do what comes naturally he would look alot better.
BlueJoe Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Surely this is response to the league form? A huge statement of support for Pearson! And a huge indication they are gearing to spend in Jan!!! "Messi and Ronaldo spotted in Morrisons" and other rumours are going to circling for next 6 weeks

Schlupp (there's a c), was on trial with Manchester United, his trial was extended at least once I believe before it concluded. Now as you're apparently basing your opinions on a lackluster DVD with minimal footage, and obviously don't know a great deal about it, I don't see why anyone should care what you think.
Vicki Vixen Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Perhaps we're missing a more obvious reason. Robinson was brought in to ensure that we complied with FFP, Robinson claimed we had, perhaps the accounts will show that we hadn't and that the reported huge fine is on its way. My thoughts too. Susan Whelan states in public that we are FFP compliant. Months pass by and then suddenly a week ago we get media reports that we have intact failed FFP http://www.90min.com/posts/1630904-leeds-leicester-qpr-face-financial-fair-play-sanctions-for-over-spending If true, then Robinson has embarrassed and misled the club Chief Executive and his dismissal is inevitable.

We must be run by a bunch of clowns!

Mark I'm enjoying the debate with you but please don't accredit things I haven't said . No where did I say last season was " luck " I explained why I think we went up as champions it was all in my post and had nothing to do with luck. Maybe we should have spent some money like Q.P.R then we may have been looking down on them . As for Burnley being higher than us , we are nearly half way through the season so they have had just the same as us to play , difference being they drew or beat sides around their level where as we did not , they stuck with a settled side where as Pearson as usual tinkered and mess about with the team according to who we were playing . That my friend is the difference.
walkerleeds Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 You don't want a player who's contract has come up . So you offer a derisory one year contract knowing full well the player and his agent won't accept it , get it ? Oh get real, this is the most cynical business on the planet. If you think they'd **** around with derisory offers as opposed to just letting him go you're either rather stupid or very naive.

Do you seriously think the DoF is capable of misleading the Chief Exec, the CFO, and the Chairman?
VLC86 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sorry he lost his job, Once took my lad to Belvoir Drive one Friday night for a game and who should be watching, but Terry Robinson. Surprised he took interest at that level, but he did. Met him another time and he said he would pop along to watch my lad again, as he had another game that night. Seemed a really decent guy, I liked him, and he managed to get rid of the problem players we had at the club. Thought he was all round decent and he did not take any messing from anyone. Good luck Terry. Good to hear that.
