Finn Claw II Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Dyer vs. Schlupp - I'd take schlupp every time. Dyer was offered a contract and turned it down.
st albans fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 My thoughts too. Susan Whelan states in public that we are FFP compliant. Months pass by and then suddenly a week ago we get media reports that we have intact failed FFP http://www.90min.com/posts/1630904-leeds-leicester-qpr-face-financial-fair-play-sanctions-for-over-spending If true, then Robinson has embarrassed and misled the club Chief Executive and his dismissal is inevitable. The financial director would be gone before TR if that were true. we are heading for the drop. The board ask the manager why we aren't competitive enough. He replies that he doesn't have the personnel and the list he gave the director of football was not close to being delivered. Remember we were promoted weeks before the end of the season. We should have had a competitive edge in this dept. all the pratting about over ulloa. And we paid the fee in the end. deal should have been done in May, not July. if TR was responsible for our summer transfer dealings then he should have gone ages ago. Our performance in this league (good or bad) was nothing to do with how he handled what he was responsible for. I can only assume his role in making sure we met FFP kept him in his post up until now. good riddance to someone who does not fit with the image of a go ahead modern football club.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 When did pearson say that? Also as posted above schluup has time to improve his game dyer is coming to the end of his career. If they can get schluup to stop panicking every time he's given the time and space to think about what he's doing and do what comes naturally he would look alot better. A lot of if's and but's . He doesn't have time to improve his game though does he ? we are in the Premiership it's no place for learners , you get punished every time if if you " panic " and you don't have time to think to long about what you are doing . Real gifted footballer who are good enough for the prem are comfortable at 21 and do not need learning curves . We just cannot afford that kind on liability in a side already struggling.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Do you seriously think the DoF is capable of misleading the Chief Exec, the CFO, and the Chairman? And that the accountants have such a poor grip on the numbers that we've only just realised we're non-compliant?
Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Mark I'm enjoying the debate with you but please don't accredit things I haven't said . No where did I say last season was " luck " I explained why I think we went up as champions it was all in my post and had nothing to do with luck. Maybe we should have spent some money like Q.P.R then we may have been looking down on them . As for Burnley being higher than us , we are nearly half way through the season so they have had just the same as us to play , difference being they drew or beat sides around their level where as we did not , they stuck with a settled side where as Pearson as usual tinkered and mess about with the team according to who we were playing . That my friend is the difference. You said he was a 'one season wonder' one would assume you think that's down to luck rather than something Nigel Pearson's talent was responsible for? I agree, maybe we should have spent more money, but you can't blame Nigel Pearson for that. We have no idea how much he was given to spend. As I say, we haven't played exactly the same sides, I imagine we'll still be behind them but our next three games are easier than there's. You can't grasp an awful lot from being five points behind them after 16 games, we were a point behind them this time last year and finished and finished nine ahead, I know there are fewer games to catch up, but we're very capable of doing the same again. It'd be foolish to write Nigel Pearson, who has achieved everything we as fans have asked of him in previous seasons, off when we're not even half way through the season. Especially as we're still playing well and the players are still clearly playing for him.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Oh get real, this is the most cynical business on the planet. If you think they'd **** around with derisory offers as opposed to just letting him go you're either rather stupid or very naive. Only some one as " stupid" and " naive " as you would turn to abuse to try and win your point . Grow up and argue your point without abuse eh ?
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 And that the accountants have such a poor grip on the numbers that we've only just realised we're non-compliant? Precisely.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Would have loved to see how Dyer would have faired being played in three different positions, probably would have turned down the chance though. Schlupp played in three positions and not competent in one of them.
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Schlupp played in three positions and not competent in one of them. Why are you not working for either the club or Ghana, who rate him enough to select him for their respective teams?
Babylon Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Nice that the Pearson lovers have got their scapegoat for his failings . So Robinson gets the boot and we can all blame him for the lack of quality players in the summer. Pearson was the manager then , if he was not happy with the so called restrictions put on his buying why the hell did he not speak to the owners and tell them that he had no chance of stopping up with what we had ? All a Red Herring to take the heat off the man who is to blame for us being at the bottom ---------------Pearson. How do you know he didn't have that conversation previously?
Babylon Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Only some one as " stupid" and " naive " as you would turn to abuse to try and win your point . Grow up and argue your point without abuse eh ? Says the man who continually refers to anyone with a different viewpoint to his as a Pearson Lover.
Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Only some one as " stupid" and " naive " as you would turn to abuse to try and win your point . Grow up and argue your point without abuse eh ? That's the least abusive abuse I've ever seen.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Schlupp (there's a c), was on trial with Manchester United, his trial was extended at least once I believe before it concluded. Now as you're apparently basing your opinions on a lackluster DVD with minimal footage, and obviously don't know a great deal about it, I don't see why anyone should care what you think. Hm the resident pedant eh ? Well now I thought this was a forum for debate and opinions , Why should your opinion be any better than mine ? Should I now stop posting my opinions because YOU don't care for what I say ? Think not son.
Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Why should your opinion be any better than mine ? Because I'm not trying to use a shoddy DVD as evidence.
Babylon Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Very interesting stuff. I would hazard a guess that Pearson has told the owners January is key to survival and that we can't afford to have a repeat of the summer. I'd imagine we'll never know for sure though.
Corky Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Says the man who continually refers to anyone with a different viewpoint to his as a Pearson Lover. Are they the same as Pearsonites? Just in case we bump into the other group at the ground.
Babylon Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Are they the same as Pearsonites? Just in case we bump into the other group at the ground. No, they are a different lot. They wear badges with Pearson's face on it, Pearson lovers have his name tattooed on their necks.
Callabinho Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Here's a thought.....have we failed FFP? Could be a reason to why he has been sacked?
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Why are you not working for either the club or Ghana, who rate him enough to select him for their respective teams? Erm so who exactly do we have to replace him with ? oh yes that's right a premiership player we bought in the close season for just that position . Allbrighton.
The Doctor Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Why should your opinion be any better than mine ? Not all opinions are born equal, some are just stupid. Judging Schlupp off one DVD rather than performances as a whole suggests you're selecting evidence that supports your point and ignores the rest. He's erratic, he's inconsistent, but he's got potential - he'll be better than Dyer in a few years. Should I now stop posting my opinions because YOU don't care for what I say ? Please.
Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 No, they are a different lot. They wear badges with Pearson's face on it, Pearson lovers have his name tattooed on their necks. Are the two groups mutually exclusive or can I be in both? I have both the badge and tattoo.
ARTY_FOX Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 A lot of if's and but's . What I'm saying is its when he's given time that he's poor. When he's running toward a player and slows up why he decides what to do, that's when he messes up. When someone flies in at him and he only has a split second to react he skins them has quick feet looks good and can actually shoot in these situations. What they need to do is make him relax and just do what comes naturally to him when a defender backs away. It will take time for that to happen though because the second he doesn't do something Ronaldo esc he gets moaned and groaned at by 30,000 people. Yes some players are more comfortable at a younger age than others. Plenty of players have got better with age, it's his first year at the top level and the experience he'll be getting will do him a world of good. Much more for the individual and club than having dyer would have done imo.
Bunyip Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Because I'm not trying to use a shoddy DVD as evidence. Right and that is all you have is it ?
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Erm so who exactly do we have to replace him with ? oh yes that's right a premiership player we bought in the close season for just that position . Allbrighton. Do you still get confused with your lefts and rights?
Mark_w Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Right and that is all you have is it ? What do you have other than your DVD?
