GingerrrFox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 We struggled massively to bring the players identified by Steve Walsh and the technical scouting department. Our problem was not having found players with quality to make us better the problem was selling the club to them and making a good impression to both the players and their representatives. A lot of that was down to Terry who is an absolute dinosaur of the football world. His day has been and gone I'm afraid.
cc_star Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Perhaps we're missing a more obvious reason. Robinson was brought in to ensure that we complied with FFP, Robinson claimed we had, perhaps the accounts will show that we hadn't and that the reported huge fine is on its way. Good point. Disastrous if that turns out to be the case.
ARTY_FOX Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Who did we miss out on then? Take a look at the transfers section and you'll see....aswell as names that have been bought up already in this thread
cc_star Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Who did we miss out on then? Difficult to say as Pearson doesn't do his business in the press, but it's obvious we missed out on several forwards and who knows how many other positions
Spicer Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So Nigel will be in charge of finances. Hopefully this is a statement of intent for the January window.
cc_star Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So Nigel will be in charge of finances. Hopefully this is a statement of intent for the January window. No, those sources say they're looking to get someone in Doubt a first team coach will be doing financial negotiations any more than the receptionist will be flying Top's helicopter
theessexfox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sending a bit of a message to the players we bought in the summer that they weren't who we wanted and we're not happy with them, can that be a good thing?
PAULCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I've never really got the DOF role anyway. The manager should know who he want's to bring in and how much he is willing to pay(afterall it's usually his job on the line). And saving a few quid on players who the DOF doesn't think are worth it are probably worth paying a bit more on instead of his salary.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 You and I both know that that isn't my point. As usual, I'm not entirely sure what your point is because every time somebody makes a good point against what you've said you change the emphasis of what you're talking about until it becomes a completely vanilla opinion on the bleeding obvious (I am actually on the same page as you now with regards Cambiasso playing in a 3 for example (and will confess that you saw that earlier than I did), which is absolutely nothing like where your view on him started). What is my point is that people have been saying it was great that we didn't spend a lot on players. They argued we either didn't need to, nor was it wise to do so. Remember all the posts on how QPR were mad because they were 'spending again'? Nope. Nobody was saying that QPR were mad for "spending again". They needed to improve their team drastically, being one of the worst sides to be promoted from the Championship in recent memory. What people thought was ridiculous was the signing of Ferdinand (hilarious typical QPR signing, has been predictably dreadful) and signing two relegated players in Caulker and Mutch. Meanwhile in the East Midlands, Leicester got 102 points in the Championship. History tells you that teams getting promoted with that many points adapt to the step up in the division above with ease and without too many new faces. The Leicester City players had earned the right to be trusted to keep us in the Premier League; the QPR players had not. It was that simple. After 8 points from the opening 5 games it appeared that history was repeating itself, with a side easily promoted comfortably punching their weight in the Championship. In the 11 games since there have been a plethora of reasons suggested for our struggles, one of which is poor summer recruitment. I would actually prefer to point the finger at poor tactics in the Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Burnley and West Brom games which resulted in poor performances and worse still, a blow to the team's confidence that may well be terminal. Fixing that confidence in this group of players so that they are returned to their former self-assuredness is not easy at all, and it appears that a kickstart is needed. Certain areas are evidently required to be improved, but these were not particularly glaring in the summer in a side which was full of confidence. We have top flight experience in every area of the pitch, for example. We've got "quality" in most positions, and those honest triers who really delivered last season deserved a chance to show that they could make the step up. Now it is clear that some improvements are required not only to improve on those who have proven that they can't make the step up, but to bring a freshness to the squad and supplement whatever tactical approach Pearson is planning to take having seen us play most of the sides we will play this season. Now, it seems, a uturn has happened. It's great that Robinson has gone because now we can spend, spend spend. That is certainly not what I, nor most others are saying. You also know that to get in the quality we now clearly need, will not come cheap. It didn't in the summer. It certainly won't now! This I can agree with. It is unfortunate that it has become apparent that our Championship-winning side has not adapted to the Premier League. But they had earned the right to be given a try. You only need to look at Burnley to see that a side that retains their self-belief and gets their fair share of the breaks in even matches has a chance of surviving with limited improvements.
ealingfox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Will they be advertising the vacancy on the Club website? I fancy applying.
ScouseFox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 am i the only one who has no idea who terry robinson is and has no idea what he was doing at the club in the first place? so isn't really arsed?
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 The tax year end accounts aren't finalised till now http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/financial-fair-play-explained.php They are submitted now, but that doesn't mean that people don't know what the numbers are before hand. It's not like accounts get produced and the directors are like "Jesus Christ we spent THAT much?" They'll have been forecasting and re-forecasting all season, especially for something as important as this. I can tell you for a fact that unless the finance team is totally incompetent they will have known where they were going to land at least 3 months before the year-end, and probably as soon as the January transfer window shut.

No, it appears that nobody has the foggiest. Apart from Fleckney who has made some good points.

Clever Fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 As I said in NP defence we didn't really know what was going on behind the scenes. I hope NP or Steve Walsh are selecting the players we needs. If They can find another Drogba up front that will do for me. Exciting times coming back, that's why i love this club never dull for long.
skmanuk Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Please don't pretend to be the big thinker here. That's a tenuous link at best. Not many of those on here!
yorkie1999 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 So NOW, we should pay whatever? Where are all the posters who argued financial prudency was the way to go? Don't do a QPR etc? I don't know, but they seem to think its their money the club are spending and I don't think people can actually grasp the concept of paying 20-60million for a player and paying 100000 a week for their services, but that's what it costs to be successful as a football club . All I know is that Leicester folk are the most tight arsed skin flints going. My mrs is a hairdresser and one of the things she'll say is don't cut Leicester folks hair coz all they do is moan about how much it costs.
Dr The Singh Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I don't get this? Explain it to me. Are people saying that it's 'great Robinson has gone' because it was HE that wanted to sign the likes of Upson, Albrighton and the like? I thought the management team identified targets and it was Robinson's job to then try to sign them and to sort out contracts? The same as Sven identified targets but then didn't get involved in the actual transfer dealings? If so, why are people so hung up about Robinson and why is it so great that he's gone? I don't want opinion, but actual info...cos people's reactions to this are puzzling me? If Pearson did want the likes of Cresswell, but money was the issue, then this wouldn't have been Robinson's fault would it? Explain it to me like I'm a three year old.. Me and Mrs Col were thinking the same thing
nettle Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Take a look at the transfers section and you'll see....aswell as names that have been bought up already in this threadA lot of the links to the players we were interested in was pure speculation.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Sacking highlights abysmal transfer signings really. Glad Np isnt get blame for transfer stuff anyway

fleckneymike Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Fleckney's point makes absolutely no sense whatsoever unless we have the worst accounting team in the entire world. I think that honour goes to Tesco. Remember we clearly stated that we'd met FFP back in March http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26422288 yet recently (just after the deadline for passing figures to the league) stories have leaked claiming we'd failed to do so. If Robinson was being sacked for his transfer dealings only then why wait till now? Why not sack him immediately after the summer window?
fuchsntf Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Why oh why and once again why , do fans surmize and presume, all athis twaddle of their own opinionated ideas, that players Were and still out there, that can keep Leicester city up in the PL. City has always been a club that invites, media, pundits, name picking groups of players, that city are chasing, or close to buying.Since Bloomfield, then lastly MON, have we bought really big.Sven's buys were known, but overrated and too costly. Where are and who are those Saviours, who would want to play in the Foxes shirt, and would fit in and turn around city's fortunes and season. NP fortune wise, has been let down by the situation, that his stalwarts from last season havent turned up, and played or performed at even Championship quality.Lack of onball discipline or individual positional sense in a moment of madness, has lost us game or single points. IMO , col and babylon have often come up with good consistent opinions, some change with the weather, others just want to moan, and blame everybody. On this thread so many believe we can stay up by just opening up the coffers, and better quality players will be easy to find. Fans are too presumptious, on city's transfer woes.
