Bye Bye Ni.......... Terry Robinson?

Strange one this.

If he really did fail to get FFP the club would have surely known before now. If it is all about him no getting players in in the summer, they knew in September he didn't get the players in. (though i guess the others still could've come good).

I wonder if the Pullis link might have more to it, as he didn't get on with Robinson at Stoke.

Has there ever been a successful Manager/DOF combination?,I'm struggling to think of one.

WBA had a system where their MD called the shots and the manager was a coach worked for three seasons until Ashworth was approached by the FA

Perhaps the same problems were popping up again with bids for January targets going in.

Perhaps it's the first time the owners have asked for Pearson's opinion on the transfer dealings.

Who knows, could be one of a dozen reasons.

The sacking of Terry is a bit of a concern I think.

Did a decent job in ending contracts, so getting the likes of Wellens, Gallagher gone etc.

So it appears the owners had a meeting with Pearson after the match and it appears he has said the squad is not good enough and that he never got enough players off his wanted list.

So Terry gets the boot, yet there is a wage cap, which restricted what we would get anyway.

Then they put Jon Rudkin in charge. Good lad Jon, but wouldn't have been a long term planned move.

It looks like a knee jerk, get rid of Terry, and use what we already have. This must have been down to Pearson saying no need to recruit and he doesn't want another Terry around the place.

Odd manoeuvre over the weekend, looks like the owners have become irritated and a change has needed to be made.

Cracks started to form now, and for the first time in a while the owners have made a quick uncalculated move.

I can understand if Terry was replaced by a big name, but it shows Pearson doesn't want anyone around him that he doesn't have control over.

On a positive note, spoke to a football person last night who said it might not be a bad move. Jon is closer to Pearson, will bring the group in total closer at a time it needs to be.

Gallagher is still here, he's just on loan. Wellens was paid off. We also have no idea what involvement he had in any of it.

Presumption.

Again, nothing confirmed on the wage cap. Also, ever considered it was his idea. Who knows, all guess work.

You don't know how long people have been thinking about it, they could have been keeping their eye on it from the summer.

Is this just a thinly veiled attack on Pearson with the old stuff about wanting his own way, can't deal with certain types of people etc.

Hopefully having Cambiasso at the club he can get on the blower to some of his pals and his agent and we can get a few quality signings that will help us stay up.

Failing that, I'd want to be in the Championship with Pearson in charge. I think if the owners stick with him, he will show is loyalty and help us get back up.

yes that's exactly how football clubs operate of course

I don't think this is in relation to Tony Pulis at all - it's just a great vote of confidence for the manager, players, and fans ahead of some important fixtures and what we expect to be a very important January transfer window.

Jon Rudkin has done well for the academy, and for now it's great to have a colleague on Pearson's side.

Could be the turning point as Nige was really fooked off at missing out on some of his summer targets and put the fault at robinsons direction, but let's hope big Nige etc can bring in a few players with the quality and passion to save us from the "I TOLD YOU SO BRIGADE"

I for one really think we will get out of this mess and just about survive in about15-17th place come May Christmas hopefully to come early for city with 3 points at West Ham !!

Come on Leicester !!

Is this a joke I'm missing or are you saying that we've promoted our youth team boss to be in charge of player contracts?

Clearly not ;)

You would think Rudkin is a pearson choice[b/], someone he trusts but probably let Pearson do what he wishes.

A yes man maybe?

Couldn't be more wrong lol

Judging by your sarcastic response I'm guessing you don't believe Pearson or the club would be happy for Cambiasso to help assist them in recruiting new players?

Pearson was desperate to sign David McGoldrick, I'm pretty glad Robinson fcuked that one up. It'll be interesting to see if we have any luck in January, but it's such a difficult transfer window to get players in.

you read all that into my comment? I have absolutely no idea whether he would or not (just a suspicion what the answer is) . I think you and  Carlos may be confusing the complexities of recruitment at a Premier league football club with getting a few handy lads to turn out for the local pub side

Would you rather have him with us now or be where we are though?  Who is to say a couple of these players we didn't really like the look of in the summer would not have seen us above Burnley at least!

He was supposedly quite a divisive bloke, perhaps him leaving will lift the feeling around the club somewhat and possibly turn our fortunes around?

I wouldn't pin your hopes on that one.

Not matter what the ins and outs of it were, we can't be any worse a position than before. We managed to bring in a few fringe players, Ulloa at a vastly inflated price and Cambiasso, which was more down to our sheer determination in pursuit than anything that can be credited directly to Robinson. The fact is we followed a lot of players in the summer and managed to come out with very few of our targets, that's either down to poor negotiating skills or our targets were simply out of our league/price to start with, either way trying a new approach under Rudkin can't be much less effective

It does happen occasionally. I'm sure Cambiasso has quite the pedigree to his name and a few golden contacts - or you could always ask his agent to arrange something.

Stranger things have occurred in football.

Obviously I'd rather be in 17th place, but I don't think the likes of McGoldrick would make much of a difference. It's in defence where we've been so bad. Yes we need to score more goals too but that'll either come from a collective team effort or a player who drags the team through on his own, which I don't think is McGoldrick.

Outsider perspective looking in. Terry Robinson has incurred two many slaps on the wrist, therefore was "let go".

With the racist allegations, questionable transfers, poor internal relations etc

If you were on the board at Leicester City, relegation isn't an option you want to consider, even with the parachute payments etc. The Championship isn't an easy league to gain promotion from. On paper, the heavy investment to stay in the league works in your favor, as long as you don't get relegated. I'd imagine we'll see some recruitment in January.

Jon Rudkin will only be in the role on a temporary basis, until someone with "connections" is employed, that can pull the strings, gets things moving and employ some better quality additions.

The money is undoubtedly their to spend if we so require it. We have to be realistic and acknowledge that we aren't exactly a fashionable club, with a whole host of people clambering to join us.

If we are to go down the Director of Football route, it needs to be someone with their fingers in a lot of pies, throughout the global game.

This is a concern! Why now? Are the club/owners "clearing the decks" for an imminent change in Management not necessarily Pulis? Any incoming manager would not welcome a resident DOF. I am worried as I strongly feel we should stick with Nigel not least if the worst happens and we need someone to get us promoted again.

Posted

This is a concern! Why now?

Because he's done something to warrant it.

Because we've failed FFP.

Because the January transfer window looked like it was heading the same way as the summer one.

Because Pearson has told the owners we need to sign players and with the same strategy as before it wouldn't happen.

There could be any number of reasons that have nothing to do with it being about replacing Pearson.

we never stood a chance with Pelle. as soon as Koeman and Southampton shown interest etc he was going to go there given the fact they worked together at Feyenoord.

Can't remember the timing here. Is it possible that, had we moved a bit more quickly, we might have snapped up Pelle before Koemann went to Southampton?

It will be very interesting to see who Nigel can attract, of course Nigel as pulled off quite a few decent signings but there is a few he's failed to sign. I seem to remember a few seasons ago he tried to get Billy Sharp from Doncaster, of course Billy claimed he was happy at Donny then seven days later he signed for Southampton. This is one of my main concerns at the moment is Pearson capable of attracting the players here.
