smudger63 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Hamer should get ironic cheers when he stops a free-kick. WEEEEUULLLLL Well having watched the game again on sky, he wasn`t to blame. He set the wall up perfectly, but the two drongos who were supposed to act as the wall decided to split, and the ball went right where they should have been if they hadn`t jumped out of the way. Pillocks!
johnny the fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 He played well today, that undeniable. Im denying it..
kingfox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Konchesky hasn't been horrendous this season, he's done okay in parts; however I don't think he is good enough to play week in week out, relying on Konchesky at left-back when in a relegation battle doesn't fill me with confidence.
smudger63 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Our fans are embarassing actually. Many seem to take pleasure in us doing badly, and honestly, I think there's a lot of miserable people out there trying to pin their own problems on City - oh my marriage is going down the tubes because Pearson can't pick up 3 points on a Saturday. 'Supporters', the clue is in the name, no coincidence we do better when people are singing and making positive noise Do you honestly think that we are the only club who have fans like that, and do you honestly think it`s a new thing to happen at football games? Well i`ve been going down the city for 40 years and it has always been like that, and all clubs fans are the same, don`t go thinking that our fans are any worse than any other clubs, because they are not. So no, it`s not embarrassing, it`s just the way it is, don`t let it worry you, it`s no big deal!
Bamba's Babes Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Not his worst performance but he is a liability. He will and already has cost us points.
BigMicky Posted 26 December 2014 Author Posted 26 December 2014 Not his worst performance but he is a liability. He will and already has cost us points. When where? Apart from West Ham.
Sunbury Fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Notwithstanding the West Ham incident, Konch is generally solid at the back to be fair. He rarely gets skinned. The problem is that his distribution is not good enough for the Prem. In the modern game full backs need to be able to play an attacking role and Konch struggles with that.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Simpson was much worse than Konch today, Chadli ghosted by him a lot and gave the ball away more often. But because his name isn't Konchesky or De Laet he won't be criticised.
Loyalist Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 He's played well most of the season. He's certainly not the first person I'd replace in our defence. What a clown.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 He's a championship standard player, a good one at that, with premiership experience. He's the only proper LB we have - Schlupp is no LB imo. We desperately needed a prem quality LB in the summer, but hey ho, there was nothing doing there. Just got to go with what we have.

How many have we conceded down our left side?
Dickov22 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 What on earth was Pearson thinking not signing a left back in the summer!
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 How many have we conceded down our left side? You tell me. Individually the players are not good enough to work collectively as a solid unit at the back at this level. The footballing know-how isn't there and we're found out far too easily.
Guest ttfn Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Konchesky was shushing the crowd after the shanked clearance today.
weller54 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 What we'd give to have Dennis Rofe or Willie Bell in their heyday back right now!!?
ousefox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Konchesky was shushing the crowd after the shanked clearance today. Good, it's hardly going to help a players confidence if he's getting ironic cheers for everything he does. Pathetic supporters. We do need a new left back in January but we also need two new centre backs and arguably a right back too.
iancognito Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 We've got bigger fish to fry than the LB position. Drinkwater and especially James have been abysmal. DD had a decent game yesterday but lacks the clinical pass going forward. James is just taking up a space in the side. Him, King and Hammond are all on the same mediocre championship level. And we don't have a single decent corner taker in the team. Why we don't try a short one to Mahrez or vary it, I don't know. Konchesky is under the microscope after West Ham but he's made one mistake. Liam Moore's made four (Man U, Arse, Swansea, Villa) but he's 'one of our own' so that's alright.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 The only players I see as Premiership quality, are Cambiasso, Ulloa, and maybe Mahrez. The rest are just not anywhere near good enough, although I can't yet judge Upton.
the_fosse Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He's played well most of the season. He's certainly not the first person I'd replace in our defence. Obviously on drugs.......this bloke has been the worst player in our side since arriving. Useless doesn't cut it.

If we go down (now looking likely), the players Prem clubs will come looking at will be Mahrez, Schlupp and Ulloa. Cambiasso will go nowhere..or maybe return to Argentina. Konch, Upson would leave and we'd build the team around Drinkwater. IMO.
