If it's students on the piss then maybe not Sarajevo. You won't regret Belgrade, in the summer there are 'beach' parties on the danube. I found Riga a bit stag-doey and menacing personally.

 

tbf students on the piss is a bit rude, we're not bad uni gimps who just want to drink carling and throw most of it all over each other and slap girls arses. we preferred zagreb/budapest/brussels type of break compared to amsterdam/poland. 

 

belgrade looks pretty good, just a matter of working out how and when to get there if we choose it. is it cheap for food/drink like the rest of the places around it?

How about Lithuania in summer? Or another city in Belgium, such as Bruges? I'd also recommend Vienna. Probably too high-profile for your liking, but a very lovable city.

Yes, and the food and drink are excellent. Belgrade and the whole of Serbia will become extremely popular over the next few years and the prices will rocket accordingly. Like you said though the only flights are Luton and Heathrow.

other alternative is to go on a weekend to somewhere different in belgium or holland and save up work holidays and money and then do 10 days/a fortnight around the balkans or nearby.

Get yourself over to maga, get fvcked up on cheap sh*t fishbowls and get yourself knee deep in some young Welsh sort whose to paralytic to speak.

nah for real tho we've done all that before, and as fun as it is it's almost impossible these days. the ones who can afford it have jobs that they can't get enough time off from for a big holiday, and the ones without jobs can't afford it. friday/saturday/sunday for £80 all in for flights and appartments (that's basically what brussels was this week) then if the beer's cheap enough you've got £120 spends and you've had a 3 day holiday for what some people spend on a night out. and you've gone to budapest instennad of sheffield or something. 

 

also don't think i could hack another "lads" holiday without killing 90% of the "lads" there. just full of melts and freaks in the main. if i wanted to be surrounded by baboons all circling a 4/10 girl cos she's showing a bit of nipple whilst listening to david guetta i wouldn't pay £500 for it these days. could get that in a shit club in liverpool

Went for a month, best experience ever. Every night has a beach party, but it's so relaxed compared to Magalouf etc. Very cheap too!

Greece (Rhodes) and Italy (Florence,Rome and Pisa) this summer.  It will bit weird for me as I usually go travelling on my holidays and have done so since 2011 but it is my girlfriend's mum 50th so she wanted a big family beach holiday this summer so it will be a first beach holiday for me in a while. I am really bad at sitting on the beach doing nothing all day so we will see

Off to Mauritius and Dubai, in the airport now! Paid an extra £20 each for me and the misses to go in the private lounge before take off. Well worth it, food and booze - help yourself and free wifi, tv and papers too. Would recommended! Lovely and chilled too, compared to the hustle and bustle of the departure lounge.

Back from Split and Hvar, one of the nicest places I've been to in Europe. Checked out Krka National Park too, waterfalls werent too shabby.

Bit more expensive than I thought it would be but I'd highly recommend it.

Istria and the surrounding islands is a nice part of Croatia that isn't quite as busy as Hvar, Split et al. You can get a few boats from Rijeka to islands like Rab, Cres, Losinj and it's easy to island hop. Cheaper and slightly calmer too.

I would say base yourself in Vienna and day trip to Bratislava for the day, we did it the other way round and we got a bit bored in Bratislava, it was pretty cheap though, but not much to do.

Would love to have done that, or even Brac and Vis but just didnt have time. We got lucky as it wasnt too busy in Hvar and Split given the time it was early June.

One potential problem I envisage with Croatia, especially Hvar, is that in a few years it will either lean toward the rich Chav end of the market like Goa or lean towards the exclusive Monaco style end of the market. Hope to get back within the next 3 years before that happens.

Oh maaaan I want to go back to Croatia so much reading this. Take it it's a bit busier the further up the coast you go? Only did Dubrovnik and the surrounding area when we were there.
